Does Wicca have a general, like, traditional view on whether abortion is right or wrong?

I think it varies from person to person. I personally dont see anything wrong with it if its for a purpose. IE: Rape, or a pregnancy where the woman and or child is in danger of dying if the woman gives birth.

Not being Wiccan I cannot say. But I do believe in a womans right to choose what is best for her mind, body and spirit. :colorful:

The Wiccan community is so diverse, I don't think you will get a blanket answer. The Wiccans I know revere life in all it's forms, and that includes the life of the mother.

To me, it boils down to this... personally, in the interest of the sanctity of life, if there were nothing wrong witht he fetus and it would live if carried full term... then I would never ever choose it. And yes I can say that confidently.
However, it isn't my choice, seeing as I can't carry any (being male and all). Wicca expects you to learn and make a choice, not to blindly follow some established dogma for or against it.

There is no one veiw...
My personal one happens to be that abortion is only a last resort but it is impossible to legislate because what might be an "impossible situation" for me might be different for you.
Seems like it is more important to be very sure that any heterosexual contact is either covered by effective contaception or intended specifically to create life. Further, knowingly having unprotected sex is asking for an accidental pregnancy the same way driving drunk is asking to have an automobile accident...In both cases you could be harming or changing drastically the lives of innocent people!!

Thanks Erincelt, you just reminded me of something else. There is a part in the Rede that says, "Where the rippling waters flow, cast a stone and truth you'll know." All of our choices and actions ripple outward into the world, no matter how seemingly insignificant. The soft beating of a butterfly's wing becomes the tempest on the ocean. The fetus that is aborted could be the doctor who discovers the cure for cancer, or... the mugger or drunk driver who kills the doctor who would have discovered the cure for cancer. Life is shades of grey, not black and white.
We make our choices, and we accept the consequences of those choices. And we live with them.

I'm not Wiccan, but I am Pagan, so I'll answer based on my own experiences of people on assorted Pagan paths...as everyone has already said, there isn't one set answer; there are people on both sides of the debate, just like in general society, really. I'm pro-choice myself, but I'm sure there are pro-lifers on here, too. :)

I doubt that for anyone, it is just a 'snap" decision...we never know what another person is going through..till we walk in their shoes..I think we all have to be open-minded and non-judgemental.. I read a wonderful book..and it was about how sometimes a baby comes to us for only a short time..others for a life-time...but they all cary life lessons....

I think everyone would agree that harming isn't generally fun. However, the situation behind abortion should be taken into consideration, make it an intensely personal choice.
BUT, I doubt that any Wiccan would choose to tell someone else what they could do with their own body.
