Have any of you guys heard of or been in the Prophetic Movement? From what I understand it's those in the Charasmatic/Penticostal/Word of Faith churches who are going deeper into the use of the Gifts and hearing the Voice of God. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what name people in the mystical end of Christianity are going by anymore, but there really are a lot of them.
TBN, which is the lagrest tv network in the world, is run by Christians who rely heavly on the voice of God to guide their next step. They favor mysticaly minded Christian programs, and as a result more and more of Christianity is headed this way.
Unfortunately though, the Bible is still the central focus of these Christians. Misinformation about Witchcraft and the Occult is still being passed around as fact. But, more and more Christians are finding a way to incorperate "a prophetic lifestyle" into their faith.
Has anyone else here encountered this?

hmm.... no. i've been seeing alot of what i just call 'hard-core christians' lately.. not sure what else to call them. but, i don't recall anything about hearing the voice of god. but, maybe i'm just not paying attention *shrug*. my mom is a baptist minister... and she says some of the christians she knows seem to be going absolutely insane... lol. it's the war. or so i think.

Baptists and other Fundimental denominations have made it their mission sometimes to persecute the Prophetic Movement. They have guys who write entire books "proving" the "Word-Faith" movement to be heresy. They quote obscure things that were said by leaders of the movement at one point or another, and claim it is common doctrine amoungst ALL the churches who teach Faith. They have managed to convince most of the Fundimentalists that the whole Prophetic/Faith Movement is from the pits of Hell...
But there are many similarities between the two. I doubt if someone calling themselves a "witch" could ever tell the difference though! Both would immediately tell you that you need to accept Jesus and start believing the Bible. However, if you probe deeper into the religion you can find that even the Fundimentalists use the Bible as a medium for Divination. It is at the core of their beliefs.
Many Fundies believe what they do because of their personal Mystical encounter "with Jesus" that changed their lives. On top of that they have "Daily Devotions" where they seek God's leading for their daily life. The part of the Lord's Prayer where it sais "Give us this day our daily bread" is taken to mean spiritual direction on a daily basis.
Charismatics and the Prophetic Movement are built on this same foundation, but go much much farther. They believe a person can follow the Voice of God, and believe in using the "Gifts of the Spirit". This is where I've come from.
Recently I've managed to drop the Christian predjudices of thinking we have the only way, and start comparing what we do with what you guys have. I've always been on the fringes of Christianity, learning as much as I could about spiritual things but being held back by isolation and the deification of the Bible. It's really great to be able to jump in here and learn from ALL religions worldwide!!
If anyone has questions about how far Bible believing Christians are going into Divination and Magick, I'll do my best to answer. I'm still trying to figure out for myself though what you all concider "Magick" to be. I thought for many years that the Spirit was leading me away from practicing magick, but come to find out He was just leading me away from trying to practice what my misconceptions of it was. Apparently I've been doing some "magickal" things all along.

the charismatic evangelists are primarily the ones that move this word from god thing . prophesying they call it. ' i prophesied ....' had my stint in charismatic churches as well as my stint of watching tbn. benny hinn i still respect as a healer though. they are still woefully misinformed about witchcraft and wicca and the occult. for that matter a lot of christian denominations think mormon is a cult. so within their own factions they have dissension. where do i fall into this? .. i believe in god but not in the way christians have them viewed. i do believe in goddess. where there is a great father there is a great mother. the other half of the duality. as far as the prophetic movement. crusades have started through those. it does cause me some concern because our sisters and brethren in more strict bible territory maybe in danger because of this. persecution is still very much a reality
