Brolga is saying that you need to spend more time looking within and expressing your creativity. Brolgas are very beautiful birds who like to "dance" - so Brolga might be indicating that you need to learn to "let go" through the dance and embrace the divine. Trance dancing might be something you could look into as brolgas are also quite hypnotic.

On a personal note, my cousin does trance dancing, and it's very successful thing for her. She just turns on the music loud, lets herself flow to the music, and she had several 'beings' (not sure if they are guides or gods) show themselves to her in the dance. So I would encourage you to check out that avenue.

It's kind of a hard question to answer as it's so subjective to your personal development, but I'd get into dancing and open yourself up to the Goddess's divine intervention :) You'll get there!

Wow, that's so accurate-- Sometimes when I'm not so concerned with being self-conscious, and am just dancing in my room, I do reach almost a trance-like state, and it's a wonderful feeling. :) The only problem is, my room is like 9 feet wide, and I always bang into my dresser or TV or stereo. 8O

Glad to have helped! The trance-like states are wonderful, but I know the problem with limitations of room! I used to trip over my living room table! haha! You might also like to try drumming, chanting or something like that to bring on a trance-like state. But I think the cards were saying dancing is the way for you :)

OK. Here goes!

Current Situation - Bast

hehehe (couldn't have pulled a better scarab to describe you at the moment) - Bast is all about artistic careers - dance, theater, graphic arts etc. - She indicates that people who are artistically oriented will soon grow bored in ordinary jobs if not kept stimulated in the arts.

Course of Action - Khepera

Khepera is the lord of becomings. Khepera, can indicate form, manifestation, shape, image, change and transformation. He can often indicate that divine intervention is at hand and that you should follow your instincts. New assignments/beginnings.

Final Outcome - Ankh

The ankh is a powerful creation sign. The Egyptian gods carry ankhs as evidence of their power to transmit and create life. This is a positive sign that whatever course you follow will work out well. Money-wise it indicates the sufficient resources for whatever is needed, and can indicate new assignments/beginnings.

The final outcome wasn't exactly clear, so I pulled a couple of clarifying scarabs with the following results:

Tahuti - With regard to education and such Tahuti is a positive sign. He was a gambler, and can often indicate that a risky investment may pay off.

Ushabti - Careerwise, Ushabti can indicate the hiring of new employees. Expect to be supervising new or inexperienced workers.

OK. So here's how I read them. I think it's a positive indication that if you have your heart set on going back to school, then the time is right to do so. You are obviously bored with your current situation, and with Khepera in the course of action place He is saying that it the time is right for new beginnings. The Ankh symbolises success in whatever course you choose to take, but with Tahuti as a clarifier, it's leaning toward a successful education endeavour. The Ushabti may indicate that you should look to hire someone on in your current business to keep that afloat while you are going back to school. All in all, you should follow your heart and your instincts - if you have the ability to do it, then I say go for it!

I thought Bast for my current situation was spot on ~ aswell as being a goddess of cats!! As I have just become a proud mummy of two kitty cats and I love them to bits.. they are a big part of my life too at the moment! Its great she came up as an artistic career too because that is what (im learning) I want! :)

Temple: - Relationships that have a sacred dimension, which may or may not be sexual/romantic. Divine union and sometimes marriage.

Tahuti - In romance, look to friends who can help bring together individuals or offer counsel on existing relationships. Can also indicate platonic friendships.

INTERPRETATION

The first scarab talks about where you are now, which is seeking a relationship that is committed and positive. The course of action seems to indicate that happiness is on the way, so I think that your intuition that change is on the way is a true one. Heqet indicates positive, sudden change. Be on the look out for signs that you might not be looking for. Divine is looking out for you, and you need to trust the the right person for you will come along when you are ready.

Khepera could be indicating an older man is who you are looking for (being led to?), or maybe an older man to who you should seek advice from. The final outcome is positive. However, Tahuti and the Temple combination is interesting. It could symbolise that you are to look to a friend who might lead you to this person, OR I am getting more of an inclination that this new relationship will begin as a platonic relationship and develop into something more.

INTERPRETATION:

It's important to remember that a reading at any time MAY glimpse into the future, but nothing is ever written in stone. The future is ever-changing and relies entirely on our actions and the choices we make at every moment. So while this is a glimpse into where things stand right now, it may not stay true.

Ankh represents your desire to have children with your current boyfriend, that much is clear. Ushabti indicates that things might not be ready for that sort of committment yet. Ushabti can represent being too dependent on someone, and may call for you to find a little independence of your own before moving into such a big decision. Ushabti may also mean that you need to discuss this with your boyfriend to gauge his thoughts on the matter too.

Feather of Maat is balance. With the clarifying scarabs (which didn't really help clarify much ;) ) I am getting the impression that perhaps you may be afraid there is a physical reason you can't have children? There are a lot of physical references here, family history, doctors, experts. If you are afraid of any of this, or if your family has had a history of fertility problems etc, you might want to check with an expert to make sure everything is in working order :) Maat calls for balance in all, body, mind and spirit to have ultimate health, keep this in mind too.

As to a final decision on children, the scarabs are being decidedly unclear on this, which is not surprising because we can't always look into the future and see a definite. I see that if things all go well healthwise and relationship wise, the future is set up to be positive in children, but like I said, the future is very misty, we can't always get a definite answer and it would be wrong of me to make one up. :(

hai, although I"m WAAAY to young to be thinking about stuffs like that, really. . . I have been lately -_-;; I've been really wanting to be a mother. . .and I know it's way too soon and I SO don't plan on having kids right now, I just am getting that overloading motherly instinct-type thing, you know?

lol yes, in the past I *have* been concerned about if I could have children in the future, because of how wild my periods were. . . I'm taking a drug to regulate it now, but it still makes me wonder sometimes "am I going to be able to have a child when I'm finally old enough?

Lately I've been trying to become more independant, because I've been relying on him (my boyfriend) way too much, and I finally realized that no matter what I do for him, only he can make himself truely happy, and that the same went for me, only *I* could make myself truely happy. So I decided to start doing some of the things I did before I met him. . . like do stuff *I* wanted to do and let him do stuff *HE* wanted to do, instead of us both being grumpy about some *US* activity. . . we NEED time apart 8O I've also been thinking of beginning a mission to eat better and stuffs. . . and I'm really looking forward to my classes starting tommorrow, because I"ll be doing lots of walking, and badmitton twice a week. -_-; just when I buy new clothes I"ll need MORE new ones. .. LOL

I'm very glad that the future seems positive about kids. . . about the only thing I've been sure of my whole life is that someday I want children, and by gods I"m going to accomplish that somehow! not now, but when I"m ready. . . and I really really hope that it's my boyfriend that I'mwith now. . . he's the only person I ever want to be with, really.

I think that at some stage everyone goes through that. Before going on the pill I had some irregular periods too. Good luck with the stuff to regulate that!

Here's what I'm getting from the scarabs.



Current Situation - Serqet the Scorpion

Favours exploring spirituality through the healing arts and by protecting others. Can speak for areas to be strengthened and controlled.

Course of Action - Shen

Suggests any sort of method relying on practice and repetition that will bring rewards and insight over the long term. Employ mantras, chanting, daily practices of yoga and tai chi, daily meditations, and similar practices.

Final Outcome - Set

Beware of being self-centred or of exerting domination of others in the name of religion. The outside, the rebel. Perpetual discontent.

Clarifiers Crook & Flail of Osiris, Bast

Crook and Flail - Initiation. Soul retrieval. Casting off the material in favour of the spiritual. A time of turning inward. Study of the afterlife, reincarnation, the otherworld etc.

Bast - Meditative pursuits but also upbeat, practical philosophies. Not a time to abandon material things in favour of spiritual pursuits. Explore dancing, drumming, body work, and sacred sexuality.

INTERPRETATION

The Scorpion indicates that you've been going through a period of study and focusing on areas that need strengthening. If you haven't already started, then you are considering doing so. Shen encourages you to begin or continue your studies in your favoured areas of study. It also indicates that you may not be able to absorb everything at once, so repetition will help you grasp and understand that which you are learning. Shen is particularly favourable if you are studying anything involving repetition like tai chi, yoga, daily meditation, daily ritual, chanting etc. I would also think that studying something like tarot or some other oracle would be favoured, as many people learn that through repetitious study, either studying the meanings over and over, or casting readings over and over until it comes naturally.

Set is an interesting one. I would think he indicates that you are either acting from a rebellious standpoint, or acting self-centred in your studies and to not let these emotions get the better of you. The Crook and Bast are conflicting in their messages of casting off either physical or spiritual stuff, so I think this means that you need to find a balance between the physical and spiritual world. Together the two clarifying scarabs can indicate a period of looking within, meditation, and perhaps getting into drumming, dancing etc.

All in all it's a positive message about your studies. You seem to be doing well, but balance seems to be the key here, and you have to make sure you have it in order to advance in the best possible way :)

I'm going to try a new reading called the Temple Reading with the scarabs. It's supposed to be good for questions regarding any two individuals. I've never done one of these before, so if it doesn't make any sense, I'll try something else :)

Taking action to improve situations. Shakeups at work. New colleagues, managers, opportunities.


Interpretation

I think this is a very positive reading! It seems to verify all you are going through right now. The first scarab is the lady of writing, which most likely symbolises all those resumes you are probably sending out, and associated correspondence with this - and that things are going ok. Serqet the scorpion is an interesting scarab, I think the reference may refer to a new job, or if not - possibly an interview that will be successful. Serqet can also stand for sudden change - so if it's a change in his job situation (ie. going from unemployed to employed) this is good!
The Sistrum talks about new colleagues, managers and opportunities so the final outcome is good too! I take this as a positive sign that everything is going to work out for you. :)

Hi S1ren,

It sounds like the same scarabs - I kind of compare them to runes because they are about the same size, but that's about the only similarity. Mine came in a kit put out by deTraci Regula and Kerigwen. My scarabs have hieroglyphs on the underbelly of them - and each hieroglyph has it's own individual symbolism. I have a pic of them somewhere on the boards here, but you can also look by clicking here (http://www.johndoe.org/undercurrents/graphics2/scarabs.jpg).

If you do have the same scarabs, there is a book that comes with them that explains all the symbolisms and also has a few spreads to try in them - it's written by deTraci Regula, I can't think of the name offhand, but if you want to know I can look it up (mind fog). I generally use a three scarab spread 1 - 2 - 3

I saw that kit online, but couldn't afford it, hehe. So I bought some scarab beads, and was going to paint them to use...but sinc I didn't have the kit I didn't know what to do with them.

This 3-scarab spread, is that similar to the rune spread? I saw the link you sent:)

From what the scarabs are telling me, you've been checking out a bunch of different paths, mostly Wiccan-like ones or folk ways. Perhaps a little of green witchcraft even, and it looks like you have an interest in oracles or have tried them out at some time too. However, that doesn't seem to be the path that you are looking for. I am guessing that something is missing from your studies, something that you can't pin down (der! you wouldn't ask if you did know right? ;) )

Well, I really didn't know if the scarabs - being Egyptian oriented- would provide me with much of an answer, but they really came through for me! Right there in black and white! A path of non-conflict such as Taoism. Buddhism too would possibly be something to look into. Wicca is like this to a certain extent because of it's "harm none" rede, but because of the "course of action" pointing to a more traditional or ancient path, I am leaning toward Buddhism or something similar.

Has it ever appealed to you in any way? Have you ever known someone who studied it? Perhaps it is time to seek out an established group/church/temple to practice with. If there happens to be a Buddhist or Taoist or similar group around, I'd look into that, it just might be what you're looking for, and if not, it seems like Wicca might be another option for you :)

Those were just the scarabs that I drew to answer your question. Heqet was where you are now (looking at Wicca and other similar paths), the Temple was your "course of action" which seemed to indicate joining a group or taking on a more spiritual lifestyle, and the Nile suggested Taoism or another similar religion that is non-aggressive.

I've recently been trying to get a new job. I've been sending out an average of 3 resumes a week for a month now, and I haven't heard a single thing from any of them.

Am I doing this wrong? Should I be trying, anyway? I really want to work somewhere more stable: my current job is like standing underneath the piano dangling from the window above in the cartoons, you know? Plus, they treat us horribly and we have CRAP benefits. It's also quite the dead-end job. I just want OUT, but I'm not getting anywhere.

Most of those symbols were the ones I was considering using on the scarabs I'm going to make, but there are a few that are strange to me. I can kind of figure out the meanings of some, based on the readings you've given people on this thread, but of course, each of those is personalized. Would you mind explaining the symbols and their meanings to me? I hate to hijack this thread...you can email me or PM me if you want. As for the meanings of the scarabs, I don't know if I can really help you out with that - I'd recommend trying to get the set myself, because the meanings of each scarab vary according to what is being asked. For instance, Horus's approach to a love question is considerably different to if the question were about family or career or a spiritual path etc. All this is in the book, and it would take me forever to explain it to you, I haven't fully learned it all myself yet! I wish I could help you out, but I really do recommend the set if you think this is an oracle you might like.

MOF, right after I posted that I found out that my entire job description is being changed: I start training monday to do EVERYTHING differnetly, at a different location, and I have to move offices next week, too! I've been in constant contact with my managers about all this, for a few days now...my answer (even to those unpopular opinions) is always "sorry, it's the new policy". Grr.

Unfortunately, as a contractor, there's nothing we can do over here, even if we did team up. We can either deal with it, or quit. I'm still looking...but given the "abundance after a murky beginning"...I'm wondering now if the changes will be as bad as they seem. I think I'll stick it out and see how the new job goes, for a while.
