I've written an essay which I'm thinking of revising and submitting to a pagan magazine - what are the best magazines to submit to? Do any of them pay for articles?
Many thanks xx

I know that newWitch pays a little bit (none of the Pagan magazines is going to pay you much though). Fate pays, that one is from Llewellyn. Most only send you a contributor's copy. What magazine you send to depends on the slant of your article. Take a look at The Beltane Papers, Sagewoman, newWitch, New Moon Rising, and Open Ways, for starters. Green Egg went belly up some time back, btw.

I know that the Lewellyn Magical Almanac and the Witches Almanac often take submissions,
also, there are quite a few E-zines,,
Lewellyn puts out a catalog / magazine every now and then you can submit articles to them as well.
and then there is the Burning times. My friend Kate, in Philladelphia has had a few articles Published in the times.

Here are some print publications. Some pay, some don't. There are also tons of ezines and newsletters you can write for. They don't usually pay, but they can help establish you, build a name for yourself as well as a portfolio.
The Beltane Papers (feminist) http://www.thebeltanepapers.net/
The Blessed Bee (family) http://www.blessedbee.com/
Crescent Moon (general) http://crescentmagazine.com/cm/
Elements (general) http://www.bluemoondesign.org/elements/
NewWitch (teen) http://www.newwitch.com/
Pan/Gaia (general) http://www.pangaia.com/
Sage Woman (goddess) http://www.sagewoman.com/index.htm
Starlight Voices (teen) http://members.tripod.com/~StarlightVoices/
Waxing & Waning (Pagan fiction journal) http://www.waxwanemag.com/
The Blessed Bee, NewWitch, Pan/Gaia, and Sage Woman are owned and published by the same company. I'd say that the latter three are the biggest pagan magazines out there.
Hope this helps.

You could also try Pagan Dawn (http://www.paganfed.demon.co.uk/pagandawn/c_index.htm) or Wicca and Witchcraft (http://www.witchcraft.org/). They're British based magazines.
The ecauldron (http://www.ecauldron.com/) sends a newsletter round every month and they're desperate for articles (I just submitted one and it's going to be published apparently :clapping: ).
