I celebrate all 8 Sabbats.
I know alot of people who only celebrate the main ones and that's cool too. I just feel that for me the idea of celebrating all 8 is like second nature to me in a sense.
I also know many people who have seen that I'm learning about Wicca and they've taken it on board and within the first 2 weeks are calling themselves Wiccan and just want to cast spells, and are like this nearly a year on and still do not know the names of the main Sabbats.
I know alot of people are like that but I feel that with studying for nearly a year the friends of mine should be able to at least name the equinox's and Samhain and Yule - also because I make a point of mentioning a sabbat is coming up up to a few days before and yet they can't name them.
I guess that's another reason in why I celebrate them all, is so I don't forget them and I have a high appreciation of those times in the year.

What you mention here is a very good point. You make me think and thats good. I have been in my wiccan studies for 9 months now and sometimes I call myself wiccan and sometimes I think, "no I need to learn more first before I do." I have celebrated most sabbats in the past 9 months even if it was just lighting a candle and meditating and I got a witches calendar just to make sure I'm up on things. You are right that all should atleast be familiar will all sabbats wether they celebrate them or not.

I'm pretty big into the 4 solar festivals (they're one of the big reasons I'm on a pagan path to begin with). I'm learning to appreciate the otehrs as well.

:) Thanks.
I do the same, be it just sitting meditating with a candle lit, but still doing something for that sabbat, that's what I do too.
I've organised a meeting once a week to get my friends round too and so we can all learn together, because I've been interested in Wicca for a few years and studying for almost a full year, whereas although alot of people I know are interested and are calling themselves Wiccan, they don't actually know so much about it and have been saying this for months now. I remember walking into a conversation with Tom and Danny and asked what they were speaking about. The reply I was given was:
"Hey Chell, we're talking about the six sabbats."
So already trying not to giggle I asked them to name these six sabbats, and ofcourse, the only one they could name was Samhain. Then I told them there are actually 8 sabbats.
I figure getting people together once a week would be good, for learning together, to give moral support and guidance for one another, and I'll be teaching them things they don't know each week. Starting with the sabbats surprisingly. :D

It was Lammas yesterday, and I just wanted to ask what that one is about exacly and how is one to celebrate it simply?

Being an Irish Recon, I celebrate the four festivals: Samhain, Imbolc, Bealtaine, and Lughnassadh. Sometimes I do things on the equinoxes, but nothing really ritualized, just seasonal celebration.

I try to celebrate all 8 Sabbats with at least a simple ritual. Even if it is just to light some candles and offer a prayer appropriate to the Sabbat.

well, this is my first year as a practicing witch, and I'm trying to do something for every 8. I may not do it on the exact date, as life has been very hectic with lots of sickness (me & others around me), but I try to do at least a meditation on the sabbat, even if it's a few days late.

Well its only my first year celebrating the sabbats, and so far I skipped out on celebrating one, which was Yule (southern hemisphere it falls in June) and as it was my birthday yesterday, I might keep my ritual fairly simple, and just give thanks to the Goddess Brigit for helping me on Friday with a healing spell. I think I've celebrated enough, as it was my 21st ... so I'll keep this one simple.
I am basically trying to celebrate all the sabbats, or at less acknowledge them in some way, even if its just changing my altar decorations...

I try to celebrate all 8 Sabbats, and the Esbats, whenever I can. I work in retail, and more often than not I have to miss them, just like with my former Christian holidays. I try to acknowledge them with a prayer if I can't do a full observance. Sometimes it's just a wistful sigh of frustration as I drag myself to bed after a long weekend at work. :geez:

I heartily attempt to celebrate all 8 Sabbats, and I might make it this year! Yay! I've only done 3 Esbats tops, and those were over 3 years ago. I see the Sabbat as a celebration of both God and Goddess, and the Esbat as a working holiday, so to speak.

I've decided to not celebrate any of them after forgetting about Litha. :)
And that doesn't mean I don't celebrate nature...

I do the same as above in that I celebrate only the fire festivals. Though, I will acknowledge the solstices and equinoxes.

I chose "other." We celebrate what we can, and always enjoy it as a family. And by "celebrate," I mean that we make a big deal of them by doing a ritual and basically getting into a festive spirit. Sometimes life gets crazy and we let a sabbat slip by without doing anything special, but we do always REMEMBER them. We make a point of celebrating Samhain and Yule at the very least.

I've spent most of the last couple of years taking in information. Now I'm ready to put what I've learned into action. Starting this Samhain, I will celebrate all 8. In the past I only celebrated Feb 1, Winter Solstice, & Samhain.

In the summer, or when I am home from vacations, I do a full out ritual. At school, I take a moment to meditate and reflect on the Sabbat or Esabat, or go for a walk in nature. I also try to celebrate with special food and drink.
Blessings,

well, i dont really do any rituals on the Sabbats... I usually just light a candle on my altar and maybe decorate it a bit in the spirit of the specific Sabbat, and usually pray & reflect on the meaning of it... The only Sabbat I REALLY go all out for is Samhain. Its just my absolultey fave Sabbat, and I enjoy it & its spirit very much.

MM~
I celebrate the eight Sabbats of the Wheel of the Year and have done for the past 2 and a half years or so. What I find interesting is that the celebrations feel so familiar to me and though I have only celebrated them twice or three times each it feels like second nature; deep and resonating within my psyche.
I live in Australia and though the pastoral and agricultural cycles and calendars vary down here there is still something sacred about connecting with the natural flow of energy and standing amidst the spirals and zeniths of the Green and Star Kingdoms to feel the glory of the God and Goddess as they continue their age-old passage through time.
Namaste, Gede...
