Do you have to credit a trademark item in the back of your books if you write a fictional piece? Example: Jane went to the icebox to grab a coke.

And when using quotes from other texts, you credit those as well as *any* information that you use in either fiction/non fiction writing in the bibliography?

Just had a bit of a brain storm and I wanted to check with you folks first.

Thank you for your responses and your time.

Trademarks don't normally have to be included in the context you offer.

For things like this, you can always check style books such as the Chicago Manual of Style.

Prose quotations under 200 words should be credited. Full poems, even if under 200 words, or longer quotes, require permission of the copyright holder.

No, but you need to write it as: Jane went to the icebox to grab a Coke. OR...use a generic. Jane went to the icebox to grab a cola.

The companies prefer you to use: Jane went to the icebox to grab a Coke cola drink. But that's rather unwieldy. Think: if it's trademark/brand name, capitalize it.
