REQUESTING HELP

1. Anyone can request help from the MysticWicks peer counselors. There are three ways to do so:
A. Start a new thread in the Peer Counseling forum that you need someone to talk to. The Peer Counselors will respond as quickly as possible. Many of us are available by various methods, from Private Message to chat to email and some phone calls on a case by case basis.
B. Go to the Peer Counselor Availibity List and find a Peer Counselor you'd like to talk to. PM them and make your request.
C. PM {Tigress} if you'd like a Peer Counselor assigned to you but don't want make a public thread.

2. Peer counselors are here to listen and to share life experience. Peer counselors are not here to offer treatment for medical or psychological problems, however they may make recommendations for further counseling or treatment in your local area if they feel it's necessary. You are not required to take their advice, however if you aren't willing to help yourself, they can't help you.

3. If you want to vent, that's fine. But let your peer counselor(s) know so they can be prepared. If you want advice, let them know too.

4. MysticWicks is not a psychiatric center. The Peer Counseling program is being set up to give you a one-to-one to talk, vent, rant or ask for advice. Peer counselors can offer advice only based on whatever experience and/or training they have as well as on what you have shared with them.

5. Above all else you must be honest with your peer counselor. It will not help you any to lie. We will not be shocked by anything you tell us. Many of us have a wide variety of life experiences. If we find that your situation is something we don't have experience with we will try our best to help you find someone who does.

6. Peer counselors are not perfect, we have issues and problems we deal with daily. We don't think we are above anyone, we just have life experience and/or training that we feel can be used to help others.

7. If you would like to request help, just post a thread saying so, and we will contact you for more information and assign you to a peer counselor!

Maybe you got an answer already, but to be a peer counselor you need to have been here for at least 1 month, and you need to have 100 posts. :uhhuhuh:
