Do you have any counseling training? Just as a Camp Counsellor. But we were taught how to handle tough situations with Teens & Kids at Camp.
How many years have you been counseling others formally or informally? At Camp, I was a counsellor for one year. I was a counsellor for Teens ages 14-15. They werent tough kids to handle, but I learned a lot from them. We had a fe issues we had to take care of as their counsellors.

Almost all my life. I seem to be the person everyone turns to when they need to seek advice or just vent. I have been actively interested in psychology and human relationships and behavior for 12 years. I do LOTS of reading. ALso, I've suffered with long-term depression and some anxiety, myself. I've been a raging codependent, been in counseling, diagnosed my husband with Borderline Personality Disorder before his psychologist did.... I have some real life experience. :lol:

Other things you might want to know

Just a note: I'm polyamorous (with my relationships currently 4+ and almost 5 years), and while I'm straight, I'm pretty comfortable helping people with both gender and sexual orientation issues (and am aware of a wide range of resources in these areas). However, we're childfree by choice, so I wouldn't be a good resource for pregnancy or parenting support.

One of my relationships is long distance, the other was for a couple of years, so I have lots of experience with that. I have had experience with an emotionally abusive relationship, and with disordered eating.

I am in some ways considered a possible mandatory reporter (since I work in a high school), so there are some kinds of issues I'd rather not handle, at least with minors - these are the ones *not* listed above.

I also have a longstanding interest (and experience with) group dynamics, and particularly am interested in coven/Pagan group dynamics and helping out with problems of this kind.

I'm a 41 year old male. While most of my counseling skills come from life lessons I have been trained to handle many crisis situations ( paramedic/ assoc. faculty Texas college). Do you have any counseling training? Actually, the only real dealing with this I've directly done is advising folks about problems with the animals. Well, and tech support, which SHOULD require a psychology degree <grin>.

Informally, I've been an advisor to people IRL or online for around 7-8 years, and to family and close friends longer. For some reason, a lot of people have turned to me. Maybe because I've had rough times, and listen well? I dunno.

Any are okay, but I am not likely to have as much experience with the 61+ crowd. Because of the life I've led, I'm quite used to being around those up to 20 years older than me and dealing with many of those issues, but when you get further up there, I'm a little shakier. The Mate is 49, and he often advises me when I'm trying to think of ways to help, though he usually doesn't know detail, or anything personal about who I am discussing with him (and I will be happy not to discuss even with him if requested- I'm big on privacy).

A little about me: I'm nearing 30, married quite happily and child-free. We have one furbaby and live in the Carolinas in our own little (and I stress little!) townhouse. I lived for 22 years in the Northeast before meeting Jason online and 3 months later moving away from all I knew and loved to meet him in the flesh. Blessedly, it all worked out.

We have been handfasted for 8 years, and married for 3. We still have things to work on, and work out, but we seem to have gotten through the roughest parts okay. I'm here to tell you that no relationship is perfect .. but then nothing is. Love is work. And it's worth it.

Life isn't easy, and I know it well. I never lived on the streets or anything, and my parents didn't beat me. But I've been around the block a bit, and wasn't always an angel. I've seen both sides of the tracks .. enough to know the dangers. And how to nudge myself .. and hopefully others .. out of trouble.

I prefer to talk with folk closer to my own age, not because I dislike the younger generation, but because I feel disassociated from them. My closest sibling (of which I have two) is 8 years younger than I am, and only recently have we connected at all. It's hard for me to walk in the shoes of younger folk than I, and I don't want that to interfere with my trying to help someone.

If I'm online, I'm usually available to talk. I don't mind you PMing me if you want to talk, vent, rant, whatever. If it's daylight EST though, I might not respond because I'm probably sleeping. I work the night shift, and keep odd hours.

Hi , I am new to the site.I have been healing with reiki for sevearl months now and the process is moving graciously & speedily. Are you familiar wh Reiki or energy healing?I am grasping the idea\feeling that there is no separation from my higher self.The peeling away of my flesh or my human form known to the mudane world as matt has transformed my understanding of my true self.It has been revealed to me my true self\higher self\spirit name.I have disengaged from my human birth name on a spiritual level for some time now(4 wks).The other day while healing a client\case study I recieved a message from my guides\healing team that I am not Matt but Sheom and that sheom understands himself to have no separation from reiki\God.I understood this to be that if I am not matt but really I am Sheom and Sheom understands himself to be one wh reiki\God than this means I am reiki\God.Simply "I am..." During my distance attunement wh my master the other day this became very clear even more so leaving me feeling peaceful\restful & realized.I then had an awakening & knew that reiki is not only flowing thru me in sessions but I am reiki and there is no separation fro sheom\matt.I have found my selfhealing sessions as well as my client sessions to be a more powerful experience.I am grasping this oneness but find myself becoming so peaceful & calm that I find silence more comforting then conversation which is making me feel alienated from society(work place\social).I know this will pass & I will adapt but I have know one to talk to who can relate to my experience.So I thought I would try peer counseling & was drawn to your profile.I'll trust the spirit's are guiding me to the right source of support.Thank you for listening .If you are a healer or not & know the experience I am talking about please contact me....namiste' I have always known from metapyhiscal concepts that God is apart of us & always wh us & there is no separtion but this is on a whole other level then the intelect.This is an innate knowing throughout my seven chakras.I felt the energy flowing strong & healing throughout my entire body giving me the message that Reiki\god & me are one.It humbled me so I laid in a fetal position for 20 min to process my healing.It was beautiful but has left me feeling alone on this plane.I am finding it hard to participate in daily conversations( i fake it no one would even geuss) because they seem so trivial maybe because language\words on the other side is not nessacary majority of the time.I am spending allot of time in meditation both solo & healing sessions on client's .I know it is just part of the metamorphisis from my old self \the intelect living in the world to new found \the spiritual self\true self living in the world.I am creating harmony\balance within my soul \body where (majority )everyone else has none.I am truely seeing\feeling the complacency in others around me while everything is so still within my soul.This feels foreign to me & this is maybe why I feel oddly alone.Not a sad alone just out numbered.I truely see everyone around me as suffering children which egnites such compassion in my heart.I can now feel my heart chakra ping with what feels like a physical shooting pain .i know it to be exspansion because my spirit gudes\healers tell me so.Wow!!!!!!!!! what an experience to feel others energy.It sounds crazy to hear this but it is soooooooooo my truth.i embrace it for I know i am on the healing path.No one tells you though how it isolate's you from the norm simply because no one from the norm can relate because there not on the same level of awareness.I'll meditate on it for guideness.Thank you for listening . your friend Sheom\matt\Reiki

How many years have you been counseling others formally or informally?
--I have no formal training or education. I have been speaking with teens and young adults for about 5-6 years now. I seem to mix well with younger people and hear their problems easier than other people my age. Friends always seem to call when they need to talk and when their kids are acting up. I can place myself in the shoes of people, and I think that helps me to interact with them and help with problems.

Okay....I'm going to honestly say that I'm 15 and have had no professional training....lol but I have informally counseled people on many occasions.......I can be reached By PM or instant messenger and e-mail too.....umm.......I am comfortable with most subjects except those relating with....like.. relationships and family matters other then self-mutilation friends/family and also drugs alcohol too... so just to let everybody know I'm comfortable with all other subjects....I'm online after 3:45 p.m pacific time 4:45...central........5:45 p.m eastern others accross the globe I have nooo Idea!!! Until about 9:30p.m I check my e-mail continuously.....I'm not online that entire time just maybe 30.min. fragments.....well thanks a million! I'm also willing to counsel anybody whatever age you may be.
