Hello everyone.

I wanted to check out which sites are good for beginers and for people who are interested in learning about paganism. I'm looking for good trustworthy sites and looking through the threads here, I'm actually surpriesed there isn't a "main list" of websites for beginners... :(

I've tried looking, but I'm quite new myself you know. I've gone by using intuition and logic, but I think my problem is learning how to use the search engine properly. I have to know a little bit about a subject to know what to search for. (I think it's generally like that anyway)

There are some good sites in the Links section here at MysticWicks. Look in the "Path Specific Websites" for instance for sites about particular paths (Druid, Wicca, etc.)

I also think that Witchvox is excellent -- particularly their FAQ section. The URL is http://www.witchvox.com They also have a lot of excellent essays written by hundreds of different people on a wide variety of topics.

And when you want to start researching mythology or scriptures from a wide range of religions, there is http://www.sacred-texts.com

Well I'm going to be blunt. There is a lot of junk going around on the web. So I feel these sites are the best for beginers. Don't be turned away by the some what harsh nature of a few of these sites. They all have good information. Also they have all helped me more than I can give thanks for.

Wicca: For the Rest of Us (http://wicca.timerift.net)

Why Wiccans Suck (http://www.whywiccanssuck.com)

The Obsidian Mirror (http://obsidianmirror.cjb.net)

The Witches Way (http://www.witchesway.net)

Thanks.

It's always good to learn the hard truth because at least you won't wind up confused whether or not something is accurate.

I just had the opportunity to check out Wicca For the Rest of Us (http://wicca.timerift.net/index.html) and I've got to let you know, I love that site. It's so simple and straightforward, don't you think?

I, too, just checked out "Wicca for the Rest of Us" and am enjoying it very much (even though I'm not Wiccan nor any form of Pagan, per se). I was especially surprised at the author's attack upon Silver RavenWolf, and, yet, I was not surprised. I have her first book
To Ride a Silver Broomstick... and can admit that I did enjoy reading it. But after perusing the "Wicca for the Rest of Us" site, I can concede to the author's points about RavenWolf's approach to/ spin on things. I guess it *is* very easy to get sucked in to a book (without truly questioning it for yourself) when you think that an alternative religion (to what you currently practice, or say that you practice) is set in front of you and made to seem all mystical and feel-good.

Now I realize that I'm ready to study the "real" Wicca for my own learning purposes (that is, I should study Gardner and even Crowley).
