I'm so glad Mol created this category! In the future i am looking to build my own house, i have dead cert idea that i would like to build a mock tudor oak framed house, what i am looking for are some building plans and the traditional ways that these houses were built, does anyone know of any websites out there that can help me, i have scoured high and low but can't find anything.

Hmm, I went to Speake Hall years ago on a school trip. They mentioned how it was built as part if the tour. All I can remember is that they drilled through the beams and had wooden pegs to hold them together, they had to bake the pegs in the oven to get them to shrink and then when put into the holes they would expand and hold fast.

Not much use I know, but if I can think of anything else i'll let you know.

I know there are companies that specialize in historical blueprints and in reproduction blueprints. I don't have the addy off the top of my head, but I'm sure you'll be able to find one with some research. Maybe ask at a Society for Creative Anachronism type of board?
