Are any of you giving out halloween treats to children this year? We don't get any trick or treaters ourselves but I could go to my moms to give out candy? Would any of you say a pagan greeting or farewell to the children? Instead of Happy Halloween would you say Happy Samhain. Or instead of goodbye Blessed Be or Blessings to You or something to that effect? Or just something pagan? Or do you just keep it Happy Halloween? Just wondering what your thoughts and practices are.

Well, I'm usually out taking my daughter trick-or-treating, but if I were home, I'd probably just say 'Happy Halloween' and enjoy seeing the constumes. I don't know if I'd say anything pagan-y due to the fact that it's my belief, and not necessarily the belief of one coming to the door trick-or-treating.
I'm not entirely in the closet, but the door's open just in case ;)

we just do what everyone else does. one of us stays home to give out candy, one of us walks around with the kids getting candy, we say happy halloween. i don't see any reason to make a big deal out of it and try to be 'correct' it's just for fun. ... the trick or treating i mean. the samhain part i don't mess around, it's done absolutely correct, no room for errors. but trick or treat is just candy and costumes, i don't see any reason to make it any more than that.

I'll be going out trick-or-treating myself this year. If I were greeting the kiddies at the door, I wouldn't say anything Pagan to them unless I knew they were Pagan too.

Thanks guys that's just what I thought. It's just just like last year I was so excited to be learning about paganism that at yule I had shouted happy yule at people and they had no idea what I was talking about. So I know better now and will just wait till christmas and say merry christmas but in my heart I'll be celebrating yule (and at home I'll celebrate yule too). I'm not wiccan so the holidays aren't celebrated exactly with the same rituals but I do enjoy learning about them and celebrating them when I want to (combining calendar holidays) and how I want to. I don't want to force my beliefs on anyone (like I used to when I was christian), but I do want to be excited about the holiday just the same.
