I was just on Pol's thread about mahogany, and I didn't want to hijack it, but it made me think of this: what kind of metal do you prefer in your home decor? I like brass myself, preferably old, not "antiqued" and copper. Chrome just seems boring to me..

I love stainless steel and chrome, but too much chrome can be tacky. Brass seems too old fashioned for my tastes.

Personally, I don't like metallic decor, I prefer wood. With the exceptions of a sink, I don't plan on having a lot of metallic decor in my house.

most of the furniture in my house is wood
but the handles and accents etc tend to be brass

I absolutely ADORE brass when it comes to jewellery etc, but prefer copper in decor :)
I especially would like one of those old copper jugs you sometimes see hanging above fireplaces in old pubs here in england :)

I like brass, but you have to keep it up or it gets ugly real fast. I don't like pewter, and I don't use any cast iron. I do like wire/metal that's had, for example, a green patina worked onto it.

As far as wood, I love cherry, mahogany, walnut and pecan.
