The first one I've written! Granted, a lot of it is shamelessly borrowed from ADF liturgy, but The Morrigan part is mostly all mine! What do you think? Anything I should take out, or add, or change slightly?
Samhain 2004
((light candles))
I have news for you:
The stag bells,
The winter snows,
Summer is ended.
To whom shall I offer oblation? I shall give some of my means to
the forsaken illustrious ones, who cannot be forgotten and will
not die away, but shall live forever at the heart of the hedge.
((light black/red candle))
Morrigan! Often I have seen your raven's of late, flying through the treetops
of the forest and cawing out the return of winter.
Phantom Queen, lady of transformation and change, I pray that you be with me,
that you look kindly upon this holy rite, that you come into the circle and give
your blessings.
((cut hand/arm/ect. and let a bit of blood drip into offering dish)
Great Queen, I offer to you some of my own life's blood, that you might come to my
circle this night! Be welcome here Morrigan, and accept my sacrifice!
((hold raven feather))
Morrigan: chooser of the slain, you who set into motion the final transformation,
you who are the Lady of Change of all kinds, who flies the skies as a crow and
swims the rivers as an eel, help me to transform my painful experiences and memories
into strength and my dreams into realities.
((Pour bit of wine/beer/whiskey into offering dish))
Morrigan, accept my offering!
--------------------------------------------------------------
Mannanan, ruler of The Land of Apple Trees, gatekeeper, sire of storms
and son of the ocean, I offer this to you this night.
((pour whiskey into goblet/river/seperate offering dish))
Mannanan Mac Lir! Keeper of the mists that seperate this world and yours, I ask your
aid to bridge the gap made so much smaller by this season.
((make a slow and steady drumbeat))
It is said that the dead have a journey to make.
It is said the that dead cross a river on their journey.
It is said the the river becomes filled with their memories.
It is said that the river is filled with their wisdom.
It is said that the river comes to the surface as sacred springs.
It is said that those who drink from those springs
receive the wisdom amd the memories of the dead.
((hold up goblet of water))
From the ground it comes,
bubbling up with ancient knowledge.
When I drink it,
may I be filled with this knowledge.
When I drink it
may I commune with the ancestors.
When I drink it
May I meet with my beloved dead.
((Take a sip of water, and light a candle from the central votive))
I light the way for our ancestors' return.
May they come and feast with us.
((set out plate of soul cakes/biscuits/food/ect.))
((eat a little in silence, meditating on the dead))
((Do a tarot reading, asking for any messages from the dead to be revealed))
Silent company,
I invite you to stay with me
as long as is permissable for you.
You are going home to your home of winter,
To your home of autumn, of spring, and of summer;
You are going home to the Land of the Living.
To the restful haven of the waveless sea.
Peace of the Seven Lights be upon you, beloved,
Peace of the Seven Joys be upon you, beloved,
Peace of the Seven Loves be upon you, beloved,
Always.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As the year turns, let me welcome the quiet of the Dark. Let the stillness
of the land calm and satisfy my spirits, allowing me to receive the
Harvest's Bounty. Let the gain of the passing year be mine, to fill my
life with contentment. May me rest content as I pass the threshold of new
beginnings.
Now let the fire be flame
Let the well be water;
Let all be as it was before.
The circle is closed, in peace and blessings and this rite is ended!
