(i guess this belongs here... it is about my home after all ;))
i live in co-op housing. i'm damn lucky to be here. the waiting list for just an interview to get into co-op housing here was two years long at the time i applied... somebody somewhere was looking out for me because i got a unit here in just a few weeks! so i'm not *really* complaining. i understand the paperwork needs to be done, but ugh, i can't help but feel i'm being absolutely picked dry for information ;)
see, in order to live here we have to fill out an annual review. IF you pay full-rent the review is simpy what pets you have in your home, cars you own (for parking lot purposes), people in your unit. tada!
if you are lucky enough to be on rent-geared-to-income (which i am) the review is pages of where your income comes from, who's in your unit, please send us your taxes, are you a Canadian citizen, do you owe money to any other social housing, have you been convicted of receiving rent-geard-to-income when you weren't entitled to it, do you own any other properties and if so where are they, please provide proof you have of any child support (in the form of court documents, which i don't have b/c i just can't afford to go to court).
again, i understand why they need all this information, i spent time as a board member and learned quite a bit from that experience about how the system works. i'm not begrudging that they have to work within the system. but oy vey! i get so anxious filling out these forms. i hate having to get my ex to send in letters that he does indeed pay child support, etc (because we don't have court documentation i have to provide SOME proof, and letters from him seem to be fine for now).
k, that's the end of my little semi-rant... i'm going back to finding my tax returns so i can bring all this stuff to the office today.
