My surroundings are directly linked to my mood. If my house is messy, I'm tense and grumpy.....so yes, I try to be tidy :)
However, my husband and children are slobs. It's exhausting :collapse:

I'm pretty clean... I sweep the floor, empty the dishwasher, pick up around the house... The only problem with that is my mom's an EXTREME neat freak... What looks clean to me (and to any "normal" human) is filthy to her. I'll sweep the floor- she'll SCRUB it. Between the two of us, everything normally looks nice. I get irritated if it gets so cluttered I can't move around or put anything on the counter or... Ick. My hands start to twitch just thinking about it!

I tend to be extremely organized and perfoctionist... but every so often my life gets a little haywire and things slip.
However, I clean my room ceiling to carpet once a month at least... it's my therapy. It relaxes me incredibly. I love everything being neat and orderly and having a place... when I have my own house, it'll be spotless, I tell you!
I have to share my room right now with my slob of a sister, though. >_<

I'm very moderate. I like having the house clean, and I'm good about doing the dishes, keeping the floor clear, clearing off the surfaces, and such. Less so about the more detail-y things, like sweeping the stairs, cleaning windows, scrubbing walls, et cetera. I like things to be tidy and functional, but it doesn't have to hum with sanitation.

i'm in the process of trying to train myself to be tidy. so far i get really zinging on these obsessive little organizing episodes, then i get tired, crash, and everything goes back to mess.
i need to figure out some kind of middle ground. as i'm a kitchen witch, i've decided to keep my kitchen spotless, as best as possible...we'll see how long that lasts, shall we? ;)

It depends on the day and my mood. Mostly, I'm messy though. I really don't care. Clothes are easier to find on the floor than tucked away, all folded in a droor or on a shelf. And what's with people who make their beds? You're just going to mess it up again anyway. lol

I used to an awful total neat freak! But by the time my second child was walking and getting into things I learned to not be so obsessive. There just weren't enough hours in the day! :awilly: Gotta sleep sometime, right? Now I can walk through the room, put things where they belong at night before bed and I only sweep and mop once a week, or when needed. Of course I do still have days where I clean my house top to bottom, side to side, end to end, then my parents' and then my brothers' if he hasn't done his yet. Kinda like that lady in the Swiffer commercial hehehe.

I'm weird...I'm tidy...I like to have everything put back in it's place at the end of the day. But I'm not much for cleaning. I hardly ever vacuum, and I have a nasty habit of sometimes not cleaning the bathrooms until something in there grabs me and makes me stay and kill it with cleaning chemicals. ;) (Okay, that's a slight exaggeration..why would it want me to kill it?)
Overall I'm okay I guess.

I'm midly obsessive compulsive, so I like things in a specific order and in such a way that is visually pleasing and has some kind of symmetry. (which is actually something my co-workers like because I'm the one who usually makes sure that things are neat, clean, and in order)
I do sometimes let my bedroom get a little messy, I'm a full time college student and I work full time so at the end of the day having things in order takes a back seat to homework and sleep (mostly sleep :bigblue: )

It's very discouraging when you've spent the morning picking up little green men and little metal airplanes that could sever your toe, just to see that there's a whirlwind behind you in the clever disguise of a four year old boy.
I get frustrated when I clean and I know it can't just stay clean on it's own but you can't just let your junk pile up around you so you have to shovel it out on a regular basis - even if you can't tell what good it's done ten minutes later.

Well, I was when I was home and had time. Since I no longer had days off, a clean house kinda went by the wayside. We are talking it got gross, and even though the laundry was clean, it was piled so high, it would take days to climb, waiting to be folded. I can't expect my kids to keep up the house and their homeowrk through the week. I mean, I do expect they will clean up after themselves, but um, homework, and their own rooms, and dinner, and such come first, before I want them doing the dishes and all through the week. My vaccum broke, and my carpet looks like hell. You would NOT know I am a virgo right now. I am finally disgusted, something has to be done. But please, no visitors yet.

Everyone in my home is a lazy bastard when it comes to general tidiness. My fiance and I do get off of our rear ends to clean the house, while the roomie just sits on his disgusting toosh all day and pastes himself to the computer, without lifting a finger to help. It's nasty. Sometimes he won't bathe for days, despite our pleas. We open windows and burn incense, but I often end up having to leave the living room. His sweat-soaked clothes are everywhere, he won't pick up after his trash or his clothing, he NEVER washes his hair, ick... (before he went to the hospital for a disease - caused by his own bad hygeine, yuck - his hair was so soaked with grease that he left freaking brown stains on the wall where his pillow met. His hair is actually a light brown color, but GODS, that is DISGUSTING! He won't wash his hair for MONTHS)

Okay, I can generally clean up anything and everything except my bedroom.
I made a huge effort for about 3 weeks recently, but its all but fallen apart.
Though on the upside, its organised and wouldn't take me too long to properly clean up.
Like all my dirty clothing goes out each week, and clean clothes find themselves put away if not weekly than by-weekly. It simply depends on my schedule and energy levels.

Well, you can see most of the floor in my room now. I have been pretty good about it this time. But my room descends into chaos, and I mean chaos, and will stay there for weeks until I have the energy, or the motivation, to pick up. I'm incredibly disorganized. I do, however, do not treat the spaces I share with my roommates the same. I try to make sure my messy tendencies stay in my room. ^_^ One of my other roommates makes up for that with her unprejudiced messiness, and it usually bothers my clean roommate first, so usually she deals with it. And when I get depressed, well, good luck finding the floor ever. Still I try to keep the consequences of my disorganization to myself. ^_^

Are you tidy? I am decidedly...not. :goodgrief
I have a strong O/C streak related to clutter--can't stand it, can't stand dirty counters, can't stand things out of place or I begin to feel panicked. Therefore, yes, I am tidy. I can take it a little bit, but I need order and neatness around me in order to function best. Every piece of silverware has the proper drawer it goes in, every novel goes in alphabetical order according to author, every NF book goes in the proper section, every CD goes in alphabetical order according to group/singer name, pots and pans have their proper place in the cupboard, and so on.
I watch that show Clean Sweep and my husband jokingly calls it the "Happy Ending" show because a) they're always happy with the results and b) I'M always happy at the end because they got their stuff in order.
I go through the house twice a year and purge anything outdated, torn, that we don't need or love. Broken gadgets go out immediately and don't just sit around. All my manuscripts (which I need to keep for legal purposes) are neatly tucked into plastic tubs to keep them dust and spider free.

I'm notoriously untidy, except for specific things. My desk and shelves aren't so bad, and my textbooks and backpack are all in one spot, but the rest of the house? I can't be bothered till I'm sick of it... and I go on a cleaning binge, get sick of cleaning, and let it go until I'm sick of the mess again. Heh.

I used to keep an immaculate house - until my first back surgery. I've steadily gone downhill ever since, and finally became so resentful of all of the ungrateful, sloppy men in my life that I just gave up. Now, I think I'm worse than they are!
Dishes and laundry get done, but I haven't been able to wash floors for many years. And I wish I had a solution for paper - it's all over the place and hopeless.....I can go through a foot high stack and only be able to throw 2 things away.

I try. I do. And I mostly succeed. But I have two little boys and a husband (and now my mom) who really have no concept. Spilled something on the counter while pouring something? No problem, Jenne/Mom will clean it up. Dropped a wrapper/the newspaper/the book or magazine you were reading on the floor, no problem, Jenne/Mom will get it. Need clean clothes? No problem, Jenne/Mom will provide.
Gets old. Can't wait til my kids are old enough to pull their own weight. I'm making them clean their own room, and that helps bunches. Too bad the two adults who live here are so lazy as well. :geez:

I just moved into my own place last month and I found it extremely hard at first to keep up with cleaning up after myself and my bf. But I am getting more used to it and becoming more tidy. Im actually starting to enjoy cleaning now....I just feel so great when everything is clean and shiny and dust free. If the house gets too dirty I get in a really bad mood. But I hate doing dishes....I usually clean the whole house and just leave them and make my bf feel guilty to get him to the dishes. I tell him how I cleaned the whole house and Im just so tired and all he has is dishes. It works most of the time lol

I have just been on a clutter clearing kick for about few months. What a trip. This is one of the best things I've done to clear the energy movement in my home EVER! I like it so much that my house stays rather clean all the time, regardless of my other levels of activity. Even my husband caught this. It all started as the beginning of the Ceremonial Magic course, and just blossomed through the whole house, garage, basement. Everywhere. I like it! NOw I know why neatniks are neatniks. It just plain feels good.

I'm not neat at all, even though I wish I were. I've really let my dorm room go to hell for no particular reason; mostly because I go between being zoned and being hyper and I can't clean in either condition. I don't know why; I just throw crap around everywhere. Like I'll take books out of my backpack and just leave them on the floor instead of putting them on the bookshelf. I also don't make my bed most of the time and like to throw clothes on the bed. Maybe it's because the rest of the campus is sooo neat that I need a messy room for stimulation. Or I'm just going through a bum phase right now. lol

I could be tidier. It seems since I've lived in this house (7 years) , even though I give lots of stuff away regularly, I have clutter and the place constantly needs dusting. Since I've had my dog, I notice a blackish grimey stuff accumulates under things and on basebords. What's with that?

I've been trying desparately to get neater! I even went through all the flylady.net stuff to try to get more on schedule with cleaning things up and organizing. Part of my problem is I'm a packrat in a small house with not nearly enough storage. The other part is that I feel overwhelmed and defeated before I even start.
Recently I've started painting and really making some rooms in my house more "mine" so to speak and have found that helps dramatically with being able to keep those rooms up. Now I just have to get to the rest of the house! :geez:

I am horrible. My house is clean but messy. If there is a horizontal surface it has 'schtuff' on it. Papers, books etc... Between my husband, my six year old, our great dane and two oversized cats I am always vacuuming, mopping, cleaning the bathrooms, doing the dishes... the clutter can wait.
I hate when people show up unexpectedly at my house, I am horrified. I would never think of going to anyone's house 1) without an invitation or 2) without calling first. I don't know if it's just me, but surprise visits from acquaintances annoy me. Being an officer's wife I have to tolerate it though. Blergh!

I tend to have things piled all over the place, but if you ask me to find something specific, chances are I'll be able to. I got this from my dad; he's the same way. He has his section of the computer room filled with various seemingly-random piles, and every so often it drives Mom crazy enough that she makes him clean it all up... but he knows where (pretty much) everything is. Mom likes everything very neat; she'll say, "We need to clean, we're having company," and I'll look around and will not, for the life of me, be able to tell what needs cleaning.

I try to keep my bedroom clean, but its such a small space and I have accumilated quite a lot of stuff (mostly books) that sometimes, after I've picked up the dirty clothes, put the clean clothes away, and taken the rubbish out of my room. I look at the rest and the immesity of it all to get it the way I'd like it to be, just tires me out.

And since neither my cat nor my brother have learned to clean up the house, it is left to me on the weekend. Honestly, the kitchen is the only room that actually ever gets cleaned on a regular basis. If I know someone is coming I will usually wait until that day (ever the procrastinator!) and do something akin to the Flight of the BumbleBee to get things cleaned up!
Bright Blessings!

I am pretty clean, but I also have 5 kids, so my home is not spotless.
I call my house, straightened, but lived in.

Am I tidy? :hmmmmm:
Well, I am orderly: I do not like clutter and therefore do not let things pile up. Dishes are done after each meal, clothes are put away every night, magazines are promptly disposed of.
However, I hate cleaning with a passion!!! :apirate:
Good thing that my little tabby sheds a lot, it forces me to sweep and dust with a semblance of regularity. Mostly, I have to "trick" myself into cleaning by telling myself "Come on girl, you deserve better than living in filth!"
The one chore I hate above all others is ironing
I only iron on a "need to wear this right now" basis.

I can be tidy if I want to be. But most of the time I couldn't care less about how messy everything is. I'm happy to leave things messy for a while, and then I'll clear it up if I'm bored.

Are you tidy? I am decidedly...not. :goodgriefWe spent days cleaning, cleaning, cleaning in preparation for a visit from my MIL. All she did was bitch, bitch, bitch about how filthy the place was, after we had gotten it absolutely spotless by our standards.
My MIL has never stepped foot in here again.

My house is so cluttered, it's all high quality clutter. LOL it's not dirty just cluttered. The kids toys seem to be multiplying like rabbits, there always seems to be more the next day. LOL

My house is often so tidy that it looks like a show room. It's very spiritual and guests find it pleasing to browse.

 dust bunnies fear me :shaker:
There's no place you can find them around here, except for my mother's bedroom, I'm not going to clean that place, and she doesn't do it herself, so it's now the house of dust bunnies :o oh well, they have to live somewhere...

Depends on my mood. Right now, everything is basically tidy. I'm on my manic kick and being oddly obsessive about the house being clean. Give me a few days and it'll be "creatively cluttered" again.

I need to find a language wherein 'housework' is a four letter word.
Things tend to get organised into piles, drawers, or corners of the living room. I am a Pine Sol fanatic, and the kitchen and bathroom get wiped down every other day (mainly due to the frellin' mice). Vacuuming happens when I get tired of seeing everything on this dark brown carpet. My desk is an organizer's nightmare, thus proving my sanity once and for all!

Clean freak here. And I 'm one of those irritating ppl. who if they come to your house and it's dirty, I will start cleaning that too! :awilly: I can't help it, it's almost OCD! If I can't pick it up, I get all twitchy and anxious. I have a problem, I know...I think that if I clean hard enough, maybe, just maybe I'll find a new rug or couch hidden in there somewhere!

Uhh...everything pretty clean...just unorganized and thrown about. I tend to place things on the floor and leave them there beside my bed. Lol, but for the most part, I am clean...at least I remember to clean my room! :T I love that term too, Abrakus. *runs off thinking: where'd I put those stickies, must write down 'organized mess' Oh look, it's an oxy moron!* :alol:
