Not sure if this goes here:
What would make a candle crumble?
I usually keep a white pillar dressed with oil on my altar/shrine in front of a pic of a crow with spread wings. I usually change the candle out when it's burned down & dress a new one at dark moon.
This most recent candle is just crumbling to powder instead of burning. It looked the same as the others, came out of the same package, was dressed the same with the same oil, and it's not burning so much as just disintegrating!
I'm hoping this has something to do with the composition of the candle....maybe it was missing an ingredient.....and not some awful omen!

hmm.. could be the wrong mixture of wax.. could be that it was placed in cold air for too long after it was poured.. could be that it is very old.. could be lots of things really.

It's just so WEIRD!!! I've never seen a candle that looked ok & felt ok, but once lit just crumbled into tiiiiny little beads of wax---as if it got made with that loose wax stuff & just barely melted on the outside!

When dealing with omens, you have to ask: whether or not it is an occurance within the realm of natural explinations, does it convey a meaning by happening when/how it does?

from a purely sci point of view
it could have been exposed to a hot environement and re-cooled, causing the waxes structure to change (similar to blooming in chocolate) or it may have been exposed to a chemical which has disolved/reacted with one of the waxes thus the structure is compromised

Probably the composition--it sounds like it came out of a defective batch, or that somehow it got too cold or something during the candle-making process. I wouldn't worry about it, just start with a fresh candle.

Actualy I think some mass produced candles are made in exactly that way.

k. i wo'nt worry about it, then. tho it is odd that it happens to be this candle at just this time--when i'm falling apart myself. Not very encouraging to see my Goddess candle fall apart, too. :\
