I was wondering about how many of MW people astral travel. If so I am wondering if it came naturally or not? If not how does one develop this ability? Right now I am listening to some subliminal messege thingy to help me accomplish this but so far nothing.

with me, it usually happens involuntary, on the days when i cannot concentrate on anything.
around this time of the year it happens the most.
i've tried to do it at will, but so far to no success.

I've tried a few times without success. I may attempt to try it a few more times.

Back when the Lewellyn Guide to Astral Projection (Denning and Phillips) first came out (late 80-s), I bought it, read it, and practised a lot, particularly the " tabor formation" which I modified personally and began calling the Fountain. It was really tough going at first, I was too focused on being in conscious control. I had a dog at the time that would do that 'running in sleep' thing all the time, and a knowledgable friend pointed out that this was most likely astral projection, that it was a natural function that almost all mammals engage in as about 1/3 of our dreams. I stopped trying to control so much of it while doing it, and did a bit more work on the set up, doing affirmations before sleeping about having astralprojection dreams, finding my dog on the astral, and having big, fun, exploratory dreams. Then I did the modified fountain just before sleeping (kind of as a dry run), and over the course of a few weeks I developed / found a regular method of segueing from dreaming to somewhat lucid dreaming to astral projection. After you get good, there is always some doubt as to whether you are 'really' projecting (though it doesn't matter much, it's just another way to grok, and better grokking can be got if you don't make the means more important that the message). I got to a level of surety about that by getting a group together that would meet once a week, show what they had found about the target, and we would open the target and compare what we'd found to what was there. The target for us was a cardboard box with a colored grid on the inside and various objects, gaming dice, cards, stuffed toys, etc, put in, lid closed, shake the box, and put it away. It could probably be done by an internet group if someone would take a web cam picture of the inside of the box once a week. There are also a number of 'remote viewing' resources on the net. After I became satisfied that I was 'actually' projecting, I quickly got bored with the physical levels and explored deeper (or higher), finding so many mind-like parts that it's hard to tell whether I am exploring my own mind, or the mind-space of the communal subconscious or the gods or if there is any 'real' difference. It's amazingly easy to contact deities and spirits, and to find things that seem metaphorical when not projecting, like the river of time.

I've been trying for about a year, I've rented many, at least 10, books about aping. I've had little to no success. I can feel the vibrations, but can't ap.

I do it in my sleep. I'm always very good at remembering my dreams but on several occassions I know I have astral projected. There's a castle in Germany that I've always wanted to visit and one night I was there. I was in the mountains over looking it. I was standing by a pine tree and I could smell the pine and feel the bristle of the needles. The air was cold and crisp and held the smell of pine sap and moss.

It was incredible.

I'm pretty sure the first time I did it was in my sleep, but I remember stepping out of the conscious world from a pretty young age. I have an astral temple that I use as a base of operations, and I've gone out a lot of places from there. I just did it naturally for a long time, but I've found it helpful to read about it too. In fact, although my own practices are quite a bit different, I thought the Denning book that AlAskendir mentioned was fairly good.

I think it's easier for some people to project than others (and this may have to do with how connected you are to the physical world), but I would imagine most, if not all, people could learn to do it. I've helped a couple of people a little bit along the way; so far, although my experience isn't extensive, I've never known anyone who wasn't eventually able to learn. However, I think the process is different for everyone.
