Does anyone here have any info or experience with gargoyles;not the stone arcitecture decorations, but the mystical creature. I can't seem to find much.

I've heard some silly stories, but nothing of merit.

I may have had an encounter with one a few years ago. I stress the word 'may' here as I truly have no idea what it was, as I only saw its shadow.
I was walking home from someone's house about a mile or two away at night and a chill crept over me. It takes a lot to startle me (I wasn't exactly startled by this experience, more like inquisitive) but it was a true chill in that it occured to such a degree that my entire body shook. This was summer, however, and I was already sweating a bit from the walk so I was definitely not cold.
I glanced down at the ground for a moment and saw a shadow of something above me pass by with amazing speed. There were lights here and there, the type on gigantic wooden poles that power lines are strung from often in rural areas, hence why I was able to see a shadow at night. It could have been anything, but in truth when I saw it most assuredly bad bat-like wings and at least legs. I'm not positive about arms, although I do recall seeing them. That could have been shadows playing with my mind, so I never use that was proof to confirm what this may or may not have been, whatever it was. From the size of the shadow and the force of wind that hit me that occurs when something at high speeds flies nearby, it must have been very close, but when I looked up to see what it was there was nothing there. I jumped up and down, ran many feet ahead of where I had seen it trying my best to catch a glimpse of anything that could have potentially displayed that shadow.
To this day, I have no idea what it was. I'm extremely certain that whatever cast that shadow I would have been able to glimpsed. It's my personal belief that whatever it was, I glimpsed its shadow due to the fact that whatever cast it could not be seen in its own form, only a shadow cast from it could be noticed, and it may have had a great deal to do with timing (planetary correspondences) as well.
That's all I've got that's even close to an experience with a gargoyle, and I have never read of any reports claiming such that really held up in terms of credibility. Most of it seemed to be laced with moronic fanaticism.

I never heard of a actual mystical creature!
All I have ever known of gargoyles is: from the dictionary,
A roof spout in the form of a grotesque or fantastic creature projecting from a gutter to carry rainwater clear of the wall.
A grotesque ornamental figure or projection.
A person of bizarre or grotesque appearance.

Reminds me of the minions from 'Anastasia'....
