Update On JD [Archive] - MysticWicks Online Pagan Community and Spiritual Sanctuary

We are now on hold Status .. when we went and did all those tests a few weeks ago at the hospital they did a whack of blood work and checked his chicken pox levels and it came up indeterminate so they retested and same result so as of right now... no Yuletide heart transplant for us ... JD never had chicken pox when he was little so he needed to get vacinated before he was listed and it took 2 shots over 2 months to do so ... well 2 years later it is showing as if it never happened and if he was to get a heart from someone who has had chicken pox while immune supressed it would kill him as he could not fight off the chicken pox... so off we go to get a booster and it takes a month to take into his system .... really tough part is this is the best time for organ transplant ... please send JD some energy if you can..... and to bad I can not get time off work cuz for the 1st time in a LONG time we could have gone away on a small holiday _inlove_

I am glad to hear that Flar has made a choice .... it is a tough road but one that I promise that will be filled with many rewards ... like the Robert Frost Poem ... it is the road less travelled by but it has made all the difference.

WJ, my friend, I'm so sorry a Yule transplant won't happen. I'll pray that the heart JD is destined to have will be strong and fit him like a glove. Much love to you both and extra shots of strength to JD.

Here we are cutting our cake on our wedding day when we had to have to push the day of it up due to JD getting sick ..... the jewlers lent us rings as ours would not have been in on time ... and then we traded when ours came in ... we have it bought a paid for to have it at the Muttart but since JD got sick they are holding a date for us to have it there when JD has the transplant ... if you cancel ... you would lose your date but since JD was so sick they cut us some slack ..... we never had a honeymoon yet ... so since I am now 30 I have asked the DR if JD could have the heart of an 18 year old male ... cuz you know what they say .... then we can go on they honeymoon we never had and I can break the new heart in ... if you know what I mean :lol:

We are trying to stay positive but sometimes it is difficult ... I do not know what I would do without you guys :hugz:

I have asked the DR if JD could have the heart of an 18 year old male ... cuz you know what they say .... then we can go on they honeymoon we never had and I can break the new heart in ... if you know what I mean :lol:

We are trying to stay positive but sometimes it is difficult ... I do not know what I would do without you guys :hugz:

Ah, you're developing the sick sense of humor we have around here. The other morning, Flar was coughing and I pretended to be ready to catch his lungs - I told him that's how they get 'em for transplants, people cough 'em up and they catch 'em.

I feel you - sometimes it's hard to stay positive. I hope that when JD does finally get a heart, he gets a strong, healthy one, no matter what the age.

I wanted to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers ... we are waiting on the paperwork so we can go get the vaccination and then we are on Hold Status for 1 month ... I talked to my work to see if there was anything they could do for a few days off and since it is the nutty holiday season with soon to be returns at my CS sevice desk ... there is nothing she can do ... I will just have to pray something comes up soon after that :smoochypo

We have had the booster and now have to wait a month ... so good thing is we do not have to worry about the pager going off in the middle of the night so we can geta good night's sleep, rather than sleeping with one ear open, bad side this is the best time for a transplant due to all the accidents .... here's hoping the booster takes :cutesanta

Well today is the 14th 1 month since we have been on hold status going to get blood wotk done ... let's hope after the results are in we can get listed for a heart again in a few days... please send us some chicken pox holding patern energy and while you are at some wrming enery this -40 C really sucks :heyalove: ... thanks again :hugz:

We had the app't today and the vaccine was positive .... so we once again status 1 ... thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers .... love ya loads ... now all we need is a heart ... :hugz:

What a hard situation to be in...it must be difficult because, of course, it has to come from somebody else. I hope everything works out and that a proper donor is available soon. I wish you and JD every bit of luck you can find in the world. :hugz:

:hugz: It is hard some days more than others when your really sit down and think of what you are waiting for when that pager goes off ... that means that someone that is not too different from JD in age, weight, and blood type has passed over and given us a gift and we have 1 hour to get to the hospital to pick it up .... The he will be in the op room for about 12 hours ... then after they will keep him sedated for at least 24 hours to start the recovery .... Then when the let him awake he will be in the ICU for about 3 days and then moved to a ward for about another week to recover enough to be sent home where at that point we come back daily 5 times a week for Physio for 6 months ..... :hugz: .... So if we could just get the jump start on a new heart it would be great ..... Since we have been waiting about 2 1/2 years .... But I guess they do say anything worth having is worth waiting for :hugz:

What an incredible thing to have to go through. The fuzzies and I pray that the donor's crossing isn't hard and that you and JD finally get to have the life together that you deserve.

This little guy :hearthear just happened to show up as I was writing this. I'll keep him in mind when I think of you two.

On a side note the Dr's were very happy with JD's progress with his weight ... he is down to 185 pounds on our scale and 191 their's ... a pound off the lowest he has been since we started this entire process and we cheated over Yule .... :bouncybob

Oh WJ...we are all hoping and praying for you guys! On a note of positive outlook: the steps WE are taking for Samwise--as opposed to the nothing the doctors were doing--seem to be having an affect. He's actually showing some of his symptoms letting up a little bit, which is huge considering that he's been progressively getting worse at a slow steady rate for six years. His speech is a little better, and he can walk a little better...it's noticeable to friends, and we have much more hope than we did a month ago.

:smoochypo ... today we had another app't and we go back in another 3 months unless we find a match before then .... we got over 10 cm of snow here today so that really took alot out of JD trying to walk from the car to the hospital in the ankle deep snow ..... when they did his stats his BP and heartrate were through the roof and when we were leaving they were normal ... a med change was given to try and once again make JD heart pump better in the long run for him as per the DR's short term while her gets use to the change ... he will be tired and dizzy at times .... other than that weight is stable and just tired of being tired .... :smoochypo ... will let you know how the med changes go ...._pounce_
