I recently moved in with my Aunt/Uncle (cheaper rent for Uni-going students) only to find that the room I am sleeping in was my cousins, and he'd painted it in different colors. And shapes. On the walls, with acryllic paints (I believe my Aunt said they were apple-barrel paints, but whatever). I mean, I have black, purple, red, blue, camoflague browns, peaches, off-whites, greens, even red-with-yellow-dots... the mind boggles.

I would like a very nice bedroom scheme (I already have blues picked out)... but how do I paint over this, this *mess*?

:awilly: <--- I feel like that every time I step into his room!

Any advice would be well appreciated!

My sister used to have a bright purple bedroom with blue and green stars...I think my parents used two coats of white primer and then painted over it with a coat of blue. It turned out pretty well, and that paint was thick!! So, primer first and then what you want...unless it would be dark enough to cover everything. Good luck!!

Yep...primer will do it. You can even have the primer tinted a shade of blue if you wish.

I paint all the time. (Apt maintenance)

Cover the walls with a LATEX (water based) primer. Acrylic paint is water based as is that and you DON"T want the smell of "Kilz" or other oil based primers for obvious reasons.

I AM an "expert" in this subject ( over 10 yrs experiance) so feel free to email me if you want.

Peace,

My grandfather owned a paint factory, and I grew up learning alot about paint from my dad. I'd go with Twig on this one also. Latex primer does wonders. May have to use several coats before you apply the actual paint. Remember to give the primer enough time to set and dry before applying the actual coat.
