Time and Circumstance

I've been in this great relationship for about 8 months. The best i've ever been in. He graduated and is ready to move on. I'm not ready. He needs a decision, and i am torn between my love for him and the reality of circumstance. I feel ambivolent and conflicted. I worry about his reaction when i tell him that i can't follow. He's not willing stay and i'm not willing to go.

Is this place that he wants to go far away? Could you maybe stand a long distance relationship for a while?

Is distance the main issue? The multitude of fears that come with not seeing him on a regular basis? Or is it more of an abandonement type of feeling?

As to the what-to-do-now dilemma, would you be able to hold and continue in a long-distance relationship, or not? If not, then that might be a meaningful tickmark in the "move on" column. And have you seriously talked with him about this? It might be a good idea to do that, if you haven't already.
