Is it just me, or is this time of year particularly depressing?
I know I find it that way, especially this year. In this last month I have been fired from my job, taken a hockey puck to the ribs, gotten a really bad cold, lost my voice, had a sore throat, got over the cold, got the cold again, still have it, but I can't afford to waste anymore time doing nothing, neither can my mom.
My mom's living on assisted living, she has a chronic pain disorder which makes her unemployable, and she only gets around $800-$900 a month (canadian) to pay for rent, bills etc etc. Now, my share of rent and bills is $182.58 a week, an even half, my mom pays the other half... so, that's $365.16 a week... pretty redicilous that one week would take up nearly half my mom's monthly cheque. And, as of today, she has no money, period.
I am the only one in my house who can get a job, because my mom is too high a risk, however, due to various injuries, I can't work at the rate necessary (it's due to a knee injury from January that I got fired from my last job), and now, with my ribs tender, I can't do much lifting or twisting, or stretching or, well, about anything that requires the movement of those particular muscles (even sneezing)...
So, to come to my conclusion, any extra energy that you guys may be able to afford would be incredibly appreciated at this time, as I try very hard to not take down ever stupid christmas decoration in the apartment.

Brightest Blessings.

Aww, I'm so sorry. I don't know much about the laws in Canada, but were you hurt on the job you were fired from? I know that in the US, unless you were doing something illegal or way against the rules (and not at the behest of your boss) and are injured at work, they have a pretty tough time firing you over that. Of course, they will look for ANY other reason to fire you, but that's another story.

I've very much been in that situation before. It's especially hard to deal with when others around you are full of cheer and happiness, and you wonder if you are going to know that again. I'll certainly light a candle for you.

Unfortunatly, no, I was injured playing hockey in school last January, otherwise they couldn't fire me for that reason, and if they did the union would have been on them quite quickly. I went to see the doctor a week or so ago, and he said that it was healing, which is why it flares up and puts me in extreme pain, is that the ligements (which I strained when I injured my knee) are returning to how they should be, which would result in pulling my kneecap back into place... ugh.
