What did this entity or other do to you to make you know it doesn't like you? What experience did you have with it and how often did you come into contact?

I don't really know but I think the standard definition of a poltergeist is a spirit presence that is more than just a recording of past feelings and actions but an actual self aware spirit. Usually people believe that poltergeists have the ability to move objects and interact with its surroundings. As opposed to the standard definition of a ghost wich is supposed to be only recorded energy patterns from past traumatic experiences or extreme emotion that will just replay in their specific locations.

That is usually the normal definitions as I have heard. Who ever knows for sure?

according to the dictionary poltergeist means

A ghost that manifests itself by noises, rappings, and the creation of disorder.

dont quote me on this but I also believe that an entity or ghost is classified as a poltergeist if it is malicious in some way...again dont quote me on that lol.

It threw a heavy full plastic laundry basket at me.. One night i was having a religious dream and woke up feeling like something was choking me... it would turn the lights on while i was trying to sleep ( i cant sleep with lights on)... stuff like that..
Oh and i was in contact with it for 15 nights.. Took my sewing scissors while i was using them.. though it gave them back when i said they werent funny and that i wanted them.. so they put them on a shelf too high for me to reach without a step stool..

I have a poltergeist in my own home. But, I don't think mine is malicious—it just wants attention.

I first was aware of it around four years ago. I have shelves in my room, and the top one is too high for me to reach. On top of it is a jewelry box that plays music when the bottom drawer is pulled out. Anyway, twice (over a length of time of around two months) I was awakened at around 3 - 4 AM by the sound of music playing...music coming from my top shelf. I had to get a step-stool to reach the top shelf, and both times the bottom drawer of my jewelry box was pulled all the way out.

Since then, my poltergeist has:

+ thrown a shaving razor at the place I once was right after I got out of the shower
+ knocked over a stacked box of soda (which had been perfectly stable) in the middle of the night when I was staying up home alone. I saw this one happen, as my computer is right next to the kitchen.
+ during a family get together, caused the kitchen cupboard to randomly burst open, sending tupperware flying everywhere and succesfully startling everyone in the house.
+ made doors in the house swing back and forth, with no wind or sentient beings near enough to cause such an action. This happens most often, mostly when I'm home alone and around midnight.
+ made two glowing, eye-shaped spots appear on my wall, even when there was no light source available to cause it. To make sure of this, I covered up said spots with a piece of paper...and the light did not appear on the other side of it, nor did it shine through. ^^;; But, it was still there when I removed the paper. This happened when my friend stayed the night at my house, and it freaked her out quite badly. We had to cover the "eyes" back up, and sleep with the lights on. The "eyes" have not made their appearance since then, but me and Pam always talk about it to this day. ^^;;

But, erm, while mine feels relatively harmless to me, your's, on the other hand...well, all I can say is that if you get malicious vibes from it, go with your instincts and tell it to take a hike. Smudging your home might do some good, as it can purify and otherwise rid spaces of negative energies.
