From last night from what I wrote down. I was standing by a river that flowed with red water (like from red clay), and beside me stood a man. He was very tan, maybe middle eastern or indian looking with a tan robe on. He was speaking to me, but I couldn't hear him so I got closer and all I heard was something along the lines of "you are from the land of the dead rivers". Then he reached out his hand and touched my hip, he looked worried. Then I woke up. I thought it was curious because I've never remembered what someone said to me in a dream. eta: Forgot the snake! There was snake somewhere in there.

*bump* Not to many people that interpret dreams out there, I guess.

It sounds as though the man was referring to the ancestral 'river of blood'. The red clay could have actually been blood.
This sounds as though someone wants you to remember your ancestral heritage. Your blood is still that of your ancestors, even after they have died.
This red river is somewhat of a universal symbol of this.

Wow. That's really interesting. Thanks.

Much of the imagery from your dream struck me as similar to some aspects of Moses' visits to the Pharaoh Rameses.
A river tainted with red clay, a man of tan color, etc. might also indicate you have been thinking on how "we" are drawn from the earth perhaps.
