Not only might you be dealing with death/mortality in some manner and contexts (trying it on but it's not you, which you took in literal terms in your dream for some reason) I think it means you might benefit from exploring different reality tunnels and even reality itself... or somehow expanding your mind past a "bad" vs. "good" dichotomy.

I think the two things are connected for you somehow. What does a person's reality tunnel have to do with their mortality and lifes? What's the connection and why do people's reality differ so much? What kind of reality do you want to build for yourself?

On, who are you? What are you facing now in life? What are your goals? Are you happy? Family?

these things impact on your life, and thus on your dreams. Now, it could mean the dream was just your mind working out some problems, or it could be a message for you, that you need to pay attention too.
