Hi all,
Heres our next rune up for disscussion :)
Kenaz means torch or light and therefore brings light to certain things/matters/problems/subjects.. Its a highlighting rune for me ~ highlighting the problem at heart.. and lighting the path for spiritual development!
I also see it as a knowledge and creative rune, unleasing energy and inspiration in you.
I have used it as a confident boast in meditation before ~ for strength and clarity!
What does this rune stand for, for you? :sunny:

Kenaz, Ken, Kauna, or Eldsrunan (english= the rune of fire, also called Fackelrunan in swedish which means sort of the torch rune)
it stands for: light, energy, creativity, enlightment. It symbolizes the fire in the sense of its being essential to our survival... but it can also be a dangerous element, an element of destruction... What one needs is control, inner and outer, thats how you handle fire. Kenaz kan show you that you have the power and strength it takes to work on a project.
reversed: a sign of warning, you might be working too much, the fire is no longer lifegiving to you but has become destructive... you might have lost control of the situation and control of your inner self...
wear it: when you need fire in your work or project or life... but be careful with this rune, watch it as you would do with any fire, so it don't get out of control.
Blessings
Rick

Along with Gifu and Raidho, Kenaz is associated with autumn equinox, or Mabon. The forces of light and darkness are balanced as at both the spring and autumn equinoxes the Sun is at its midway point. Kenaz informs us of the nature of these forces, namely knowledge and consciousness and is appropriate for this festival. At this sabbat a ritual symbolizing Odin's initiation on Yggdrasil could be enacted, the meaning being the suspension of Odin between the realms of light and darkness in order to gain knowledge and achieve a higher state of consciousness.
