Merry Meet Everyone!
Salem, Massachusetts is having their "Haunted Happennings" in the month of October and will kick off on October 6 with Opening Ceremonies, 5 p.m. on the Essex Street Mall at 5 p.m. and at Pickering Whart at 7 p.m.
Here are some attractions, tours and shops:
MONTH OF OCTOBER, nightly:
The Terror Trail, 6:30, 7:30, 8:30 p.m.
A spooky tour featuring tales of local murders, spectral assaults, and haunted houses conducted by some of the area's premier tour guides. Tour limited to 35 people, reservations required. Adults $10, ages 7-17 $5.
The Witch Trial Trail, 7 p.m.
A one hour tour, walking the witch trial trail. Tour departs from Old Town Hall. Adults $7, ages 7-17 $3.
OCTOBER 31:
Psychic Fair, noon - 10 p.m. Your fortune told in an elegant setting. The Hawthorne Hotel.
Scarecrow Festival, noon - 5 p.m.
Create your own scarecrow on Salem Common - $5 / scarecrow, materials provided. Jurried competition on the 27th and 28th with prizes awarded on Halloween - $10 entrance fee. Sponsored by Turner Construction.
Fun and Games on Salem Common, noon - 5 p.m.
For children under 4 feet tall: A Hay Bale Maze and Scare-crowquet (A croquet course in a scarecrow setting). For all ages: Pumpkin Bowling where pumpkins are used as balls to knock down plastic pins in a game of skill. Admission to all events is $1.
Samhain Ritual and Commemorative Candlelight Walk, come celebrate with the Temple of the Nine Wells at our annual Samhain Ritual on Wednesday, October 31st, 2001. The Samhain Ritual will be held at Gallows Hill Park from 6:00 P.M. - 8:30 P.M. followed by the Commemorative Candlelight Walk into downtown Salem. It may be cold, so dress appropriately. Bring candles encased in glass or lanterns for the walk.
