I don't know about the rest of you..but, I hate to put laundry away...I don't mind washing it or drying it...I hate to put it away! Right now hubby does the laundry..but, I drive him nuts..cause I leave my clothes in the neat little piles he folds them in the laundry room..I could live out of a laundry basket and it wouldn't bother me...I look at it as wasted energy...Why put this stuff away..when I'm just gonna be wearing it again! :bug: Don't even ask me if I like to iron...my only consolation is that my clothes have more wrinkles then my face lol! :collapse:

I'm doing my laundry right now!

I agree with you. I don't mind washing and folding, but I hate putting it away. I don't have a lot of room in my drawers or in my closet, so I'd much rather leave it in the basket than make space for it. I only have one basket, though, so that makes for another pile of dirty laundry on the floor.

My washer is so small, that a large load for me is like a small load in a regular sized washer. So....when I do laundry I either have to fold it the second it come out of the dryer or the laundry workload gets backed up.

i timed it and found out that if i put away each load as soon as i fold it, it takes two minutes or less to do! this makes it a lot easier. if it takes u longer, maye u need to get rid of the clothes u dont wear so there is more room.

I own little that needs to be ironed. If it does, I'll snatch it out of the dryer before the machine stops turning, give the clothes a shake, & hang it up on an old store rack next to the dryer...where it stays until I want to wear it. Everything else lives in the laundry basket until I want to wear it...or need to use the basket. I can't remeber the last time I used an iron.

OMG!!! It is soooo good to know that I'm not the only one!!! =) I answered other. I don't love washing/drying my clothes - but I don't hate it either... I don't mind the washing/drying part... I do hate folding and ironing... Out of the dryer into the clothes basket they go! lol I don't like hanging them up and putting them away - I'm just going to wear them again! lol Drove my husband batty! I did start hanging some stuff up. I guess if I got all my clothes unpacked and the closets accessible, then maybe I'd put them away, but for now... dirty clothes are on the floor and clean clothes are in the basket! lol =)

Kinda makes you wonder why people bother to own dressers than take up space in their bedrooms. Maybe someone should invent a dresser that is actually storage unit for clothes baskets so there is a place to put the basket when you arent rooting through it?

I don't mind washing laundry, its lugging it 2 blocks to the laundry room at the apartment complex that sucks. I don't mind folding it either. My mom used to make me fold all of the laundry, including her underwear.. Theres just something you really don't wanna know about your mom's cup size LOL.

I hate every part of it.. Especially since I don't own my own washer and dryer.. using the ones in the complex stinks.. First off people are always hogging them, we have like 30 units in the complex, with three washers and three dryers.. You get people who leave their clothes in the washer for days.. or put things in the dryer and never come back for them.. I always ended up moving someones clothes everytime I do laundry.. I set a timer when I am doing laundry, for both the wash and dry cycles to be considerate to others.. I even had some clothes ruined, cause somebody washed some greasy, oil stained clothes in a washer.. I wonder if they used any soap??

I never put my clothes away.. I just dress straight from the laundry basket.. :shhhh: _tsk_

Yeah that because the washer and drier does all the initial work. If we still had to go beat our clothes on rocks we'd never do laundry then. LOL I have a habit of after I fold it I put it back in the laundry basket so our daughter doesnt get to them. The basket goes in our room out of they way and kinda stays there. I never get them put away right away.

I feel weeeeird... I LOVE laundry. I guess most of that love is in comparison to other household chores that I absolutely hate, like vacuuming (I hate hate hate the sound of vacuum cleaners), and I've learned to time a lot of my activities by my laundry. I know exactly how long it takes to wash a load and dry a load, and I use that to say "okay, I'll see if I can get my Chaucer homework done while this load dries" or "I'll only make myself study for one more rotation". It used to be a scheduled weekly activity until this semester (things have gotten a little haywire, and now I just have to find random blocks of time to do it in...).

I hate doing the laundry, thus I put it off till I'm fishing for things in my closet. It can be a sad, sad thing what I pull out of there. In all likelyhood due to the fact I haven't gone through my cloths in ages. I find things I forgot I had in the back of that thing.

I feel weeeeird... I LOVE laundry.

*Whew* I was being to feel like a freak. I LOVE laundry too. Most of the time, I even look forward to it. Folding laundry is total zen moment - complete relaxation. The color, the texture, the smell, the purpose... I can't get enough.

OMG! I just thought of the title for my next book... "The Tao of Tide"

I'm freaky because I LOVE doing laundry. I can't explain it really---maybe it's the smell of the freshly cleaned clothes, or the warmth of the clothes fresh from the dryer. It's something though.

Dishes I hate, but laundry I love.

Laundry's a chore because all of my clothes, but not my husband's, have to be washed with a darks-only detergent, and most of mine--but not all--have to hang dry. My husband does most of the laundry though, or he'll get it started and then we'll both just sort of take care of it as it gets done. Wouldn't mind it if we had more spare time.

For me the only part of laundry that is decent is the folding and putting away because it means that that particular chore is almost over. And I've always like pairing the socks and making that little inside-out bundle with them.

I don't mind washing so much, but because my dryer is broken I have to hang my clothes to dry. HATE that! Seriously slows down the process. Sadly, there is no hope of fixing the dryer, and I can't afford to buy a new unit right now. Folding is also not so bad, but putting it away? Just doesn't happen!

Hmmm, washing is okay. Not much real labor involved. I LOVE drying though...because in this itty-bitty Kansas town I live in most houses still have clotheslines in the backyard, even though most people don't use them for anything other than linens and the occasional beach towel after swimming. I kind of started using the line under duress, since our landlady is totally AWOL and has no clue the washer and dryer we we're paying extra rent for are both rusted and busted, but now I'll never go back to a dryer, except maybe in the wintertime and only if we move to a larger house that has plenty of room for one. But never in spring, summer or fall! I love going outside in the sunshine and hearing the cardinals sing, the cats greeting me and playing hide and seek among the sheets, the sun shining down...and it's so much more effiecient, in terms of both time and energy. Hang...forget...bring in before dark...though, if you're stuck drying your clothes inside, I agree that's totally NOT COOL. I did it all through college to save quarters...it works, but it sucks.

Folding and putting away is alright too, until I get to the socks. Then it's suddenly time to play Unreal 2004. :toofless:

Ironing is only for sewing and job interviews. Otherwise you're anal.

July 31st, 2005, 10:07 PM
yep have to agree with the hanging outside part

love to go out, there is a bunny family that lives near my clothes line and the nearby trees have lots of birds to sing to me

each of the dogs will come and visit for a minute, and if hubby is working outside I can watch the sun on his back while the muscles move, :hahugh: sorry this was about laundry :bigredblu

socks are the worst, that is why hubby gets only one type and color of sock (which he rarely wears anyway) so they all just get thrown in a "sock drawer" lol saves me tons of time

fresh clean bed linens right off the clothes line smell so good and can help you sleep better

I must admit that there is nothing like the smell of sheets that have been hung outside on a summer day..it brings back an instant childhood memory that just warms my heart.

On the Flip side of this memory is remembering when I had to hang those sheets and clothes as a chore as a kid. We were a family of eight and that was alot of work. My mother never used the dryer in the summer and fall. I dreaded this! I can still hear her calling to go get the clothes in before the night air gets on them! It was always a lousy ending to perfect summer days.

This also makes me think of clothes pins. I used to hate the old ones that did not have the spring...they were never wide enough to hang the jeans! The spring ones were awful when they broke though..I can remember getting some pinched fingers!

I'm really good at washing.
I'm not too great at getting clothes out of the dryer, folding, and putting away.
I generally wear clothes straight out of the dryer.
If I'm going to shower and the clothes need to be ironed, I just hang them up on the shower curtain rod and the steam from my shower de-wrinkles.
But man, folding and putting away, that's just a pain.

I enjoy washing and folding. I miss having a clothesline but they are not allowed in the park where I live now. But the clean things just don't seem to get put away. There they sit in the basket while the dirty laundry piles up on the closet floor instead of going into the basket to be washed.

i got laundry beat...one "dirty laundry" basket for the entire house in the upstairs hall central to all bedrooms, I bring it down, wash it, dry it and sort it into piles by person...do a "laundry call" everyone comes, scoops their pile and dumps it in their bin (each person has a tupperware bin app 2' wide x 2' long x 3' high in their closet for everything but socks & underware (everyone has 1 smaller bin for these) and sunday best which is hung up. No fuss no muss, little work!!!

I love it, and I'll tell you why. We have a top loading twin tub jobby that needs almost constant minding, transfering tub to spinner, and back to rinse water, then back to spin. We have a VERY tight water budget since all our water comes from the sky.. but here's why I like it... Everyone else HATES the job... its a perfect excuse to spend a rainy afternoon sitting on a lawn chair in our 3 walled laundry, watching it rain and reading a book and every ten minutes stand up, stretch, slap clothes here and there.. an NO ONE comes to see me.. no husband, no kids... maybe the dog hangs out.. maybe for once I get to be alone and drink a cup of tea and write some poetry

Marcasite

HATE it. I don't think I'd mind so much except that we have to pay to do the laundry at $1.25/load. And our laundry facilities are seriously 'ghetto' as my neighbour puts it.
The washing machine is missing a chunk somewhere in the tubing so it leaks all the soapy water all over the floor after every load. What's even worse it that the floor isn't quite even. So the soapy water drains at a rate of 1mm/ week and the floor is perpetually slimey. The drier is even more fun. Not only does it dance around the laundry room as if in a perpetual seizure, it also has the habit of opening the door in the middle of the load. Does it stop? Nope. It tosses your clothes out all over the slimey floor while robbing you of $1.25. There's a cinderblock in the laundry room to shove up against the door, but it's too heavy for me...

I'm the freak, I love doing laundry. Love it love it! Folding, putting away, and everything. It is such a cathartic experience for me. I can see a huge pile of filth and transform it into something pristine and beautiful. Same is true for vacuuming, except now that we replaced the carpet with berber, I can't see the vacuum marks as I go along... that's depressing.

I dont mind the washing and drying since I have a washer/dryer in my apartment but I always wash and dry intill the first load comes out of the dryer and then I get backed up and dont put it away...dont take the load in the dryer out....or the load in the wash into the dryer. its okay I guess, i hate lugging a hamper up to the laundry mat, sitting there for two and a half hours (the dryers only dry about half way each time you use them) but I get some nice time to read when Billy is at work or at school. I never bother folding them, one of us will just mess it up looking for something anyway so we just stick it in the dresser and be done with it. its just a pain to get it to the laundry mat and back to the appartment. I would hate it if i bothered folding it or if Billy wanted it folded.
