I could really use some energies for the next year. Here's my situation:
I started at a community college right out of high school for a Psychology degree. after a few years, I decided I didn't want to be a Pscyhologist becase depression set in, but didn't know what I wanted to change my major to, so I quit with a Liberal Arts and Sciences Associates Degree because I just happened to have the units for it, and I started working because I needed to start paying rent.
Since then, I had once in a while gone back to take classes at the same college because I would be interested in stuff they were teaching, but no goal in mind and not even going to school half time for it. This happened for a few years off and on.
Now, I am a reentry student with a specific goal in mind. A couple of years ago, I started back at the same community college to get some undergraduate work done before transferring to Humboldt State University (California State University system college). I've been going to HSU for a year, and still have 3 semesters on top of this one to go before I am done with my Zoology Bachelor's with a Wildlife minor. I intend to use this degree to go for a Master's (of some sort, but related) and go to UC Davis for a PhD in Animal Behavior, and use all of that education to work at zoos to help in endangered species reproduction and reintroduction to the wild (ie, my request will directly relate to helping the rest of Creation).
My past unit load is catching up to me. The number of units I attempted is getting in the way of me getting the finanical aid for my final semester (over a year away, but still...), because I am near the maximum number of units to be attempted or completed to recieve financial aid. I am going to request an extension on the unit cap, but I have been told that the committee that I have to submit it to is very stringent and rarely makes exceptions to the cap. I am the first in my family to go to college. I am female. I am a female trying for a PhD. I am a female trying for a PhD in a science, and am planning on also using my degrees to work for the California State University system to take advantage of their Loan Forgiveness Program which will wipe out many of the loans they are now giving me for my education. I have faculty that are willing to fight for me, especially my advisor who was also the first in his family to go to college, and is now one of the heads of HSU's Biology Department and is Curator of Mammals for our Vertebrate Museum which I volunteer to make study skins and prepare skeletons for regularly. This will all (hopefully) work in my favor as arguments... but I need more help.
If you find it in your heart, and the Diety and the Earth cry out for you to do so, please send your energies my way for financial assistance, both during the next year (I have $1000 to survive off of in the next 8 months), and for pleading my case to the financial aid committee to allow me to continue and get my degree, or at least for enough of an income to where I can pay for the last semester myself, though any money I make now (I have no job because the job market sucks and there is a lot of homeless around here because of it) will be to sustain myself through the summer.
Please also pray that moneys that are owed to me by various agencies come to me in a timely manner. I just really need money help or what I have worked for will be for nothing.
