View Full Version : Lesson 7 - Final Assignment
Amethyst Rose
February 28th, 2005, 05:07 PM
This is the final assignment in the tarot course, and is therefore the longest and most time consuming.
Due March 14th in order for me to start signups and preparation for the next class to begin on April 1st. If you need more time for your assignment, especially if you've chosen to create a deck, PM me so I know!!! If you don't let me know there is a large chance that your assignment could get lost in the shuffle.
When this assignment is handed in, (assuming all other assignments are in, as well), you will be rewarded with your graduation banner (special banners for those consistantly on the honor roll).
1. Find 5 MW members to do readings for. Do not use your partner! Use a different spread for each different member.
Report back to me:
a. who the reading was for
b. what spread you used
c. the method used for the reading (IM, PM, email, phone or in person)
d. if a signifier or other method (astrology, numerology, etc.) was used to help the reading (you do not have to tell me the specifics).
e. what the querrant though of the reading (did they enjoy it? was it accurate? was it helpful?)
f. was the reading easy for you? What do you feel you need to work on?
You do not have to post the readings!
- OR -
2. Do 2 readings for people you know IRL, and 3 readings for MW members, not your partner! Use different spreads for each person.
Answer the same questions as above.
You do not have to post the readings!
-OR-
3. As promised in the first assignment.....
Create your own tarot deck and use it to do a reading (using any spread you desire) for one person.
Report the following:
a. how well does your deck perform?
b. would you make any changes?
c. have you noticed a personality?
d. will you continue to use it to do readings?

IRL=In Real Life, right?
Can the MW members be people taking the class?

Can the MW members be people taking the class?
LOL, yes, sorry about that....how can you tell I spend too much time on the internet?
You can read for someone in the class if you'd like to...but lets make that a last resort, okay? If you can't find someone outside the class to read for, then you can read for someone in the class.

*gulp*
I just recently did a slew of readings for about 15 people (talk about performance anxiety!)... Can I use two of them, even though I used the same spread for each and didn't get their names?
Or can I do one IRL, and four MW peoples?

What about 5 IRL people? Might be easier for me to find people who are at rehearsal with me who want a reading rather than MW members since I'm not online much for the next few weeks during the show.

For the readings for MW members, can we use people that we also know in real life, or do they have to be for people that we know only online? I'm not really that social on here, and the few people that I do talk to I also know in real life. I just don't want to do the readings then find out they have to be for people that we only know through here.

One message to answer all questions:
The assignments stand, regarding the number of readings you do for each type of people. Either 5 people from MW or 2 IRL and 3 from MW.
Yes, you can use people you know IRL that just happen to be on MW.
Raven Reed, I'd prefer you do new readings, please, so you're using different spreads. You can use one of those readings, though.
Now, the reasoning behind these decisions:
#1 gives you the opportunity to read for people you know, although over a distance, and for people you don't know....in other words, total strangers. This will mean that for accuracy sake, you have to (most likely) use a signifier or other similar method.
#2 gives you the opportunity to read for people you know, in person, and for people you know or don't know over a distance. It's a good balance between the different types of readings.
You don't need to be social for this assignment. Just find someone in the "who's online" list, and send them a PM. Tell them that you're a part of the tarot class and for a final assignment you need to do a reading for a stranger, and then ask them if they'd like a tarot reading. OR.... post a thread in the Tarot forum, and explain that you're in the class and you have room to do readings for the first 5 people that respond. It'll be simple. :)

Can on of my kids count? I only know one other person I could do a reading for, outside of MW. I would like to get some more experience in person, or on the phone...

Yup, absolutely :) Kids'll probably find it pretty neat. :)

Can one of my IRL readings be over the phone? I mean I know her in real life, she's my mom, but we live so far away. :(

My first MW reading didn't turn out exactly as I thought it would... I did a finding lost object reading and I thought for sure the object would be near her bed... she looked at my descriptions of the cards (I went through all the descriptions just like you taught me...) and realized it was a flower bed. :T
She found her object because of my reading, so I am glad, but it makes me wonder about my reading skills. Is this normal? :hairraise

Hehe, yup, completely normal.... it was beside a bed, of some sort, right? :) Reading tarot is kinda like learning a new language....sometimes things get lost in the translation.

Sorry, I missed this question. Yes, it can be over the phone. :)

As I'm gettnig closer to finishing my assignment, a few questions popped into my mind. Did you want us to post out final assignment here in this thread or PM them to you? Also, when you ask who the reading was for, did you want actual names (first or Screen) or just a description of them (friend, roommate, MW member, etc.)?
I feel so silly asking all these questions so thanks for the time it takes to respond :)
Amethyst Rose
March 7th, 2005, 03:52 PM
hmm..... you can do either. If you're more comfortable PMing the assigment, then you can, if you dont' care, then post it in the thread.
As to names, Just a description is good for RL people (mom, friend, etc.) and I'd like screen names for MW members.

Hey guys, there seems to be a bit of confusion with a few people about what I want for the assignment, and what I don't want. So let me clarify....
I DO NOT want the readings or any details of the readings. I don't want to know the cards pulled or your interpretations of the reading or anything like that.
I DO want you to answer the questions in the assignment. That's it. Do the reading, answer the questions.
Thanks. :)

Answer the same questions as above.
Nepheria
no spread per se used. Laid out eight cards and went with meanings
done via IM
No other method other numberology used
She thought is was right on and fit her questions at that time
yes, we have a very good connection so it is easy to read for her
Rick
spread he designed with his wolf pack cards. two in center...what you're facing. two in each of the cardinal directions -- future on right -- recent past/contributing factors on left--root on bottom and possible outcome on top.
via email before he moved here
nothing else used
made NO sense to me, but did to him
I find it VERY hard to read for Rick -- dont know if it because we are so close.
Sowelu
Celtic Cross
via PM
nothing else used
She said I picked up on things that were affecting her that she hadn't told me
yes, it was easy
Janice -- client IRL
no spread--4 questions asked. so base layer was 4 cards -- built layer from there for five cards high. amazing how each tower of cards answered each of her four questions
nothing else used
IRL
frentic reading because of her questions and energy...she liked part of the answer and part she didn't.
fairly easy once I saw what was happening with the cards
Sharon--client IRL
three card spread-past present future
IRL
nothing else used...in fact these three cards jumped out of the deck. was going to use CC, but these answered what she wanted to know.
She was happy with answer
very easy to read for.

2. Do 2 readings for people you know IRL, and 3 readings for MW members, not your partner! Use different spreads for each person.
Reading #1
a. This reading was for a friend I know through work.
b. He wanted a look at the year ahead. The spread I used was one that I made up for this reading. I layed down one card for each month up until the end of the year. Each card was supposed to represent the general outlook for a specific month. Then, I placed a final card for the overall feeling of the year.
c. This reading was done in person.
d. No signifier was used.
e. He said he enjoyed the reading very much, and it was very thourough. He also said that it was pretty accurate, right on the money, and reaffirmed thoughts he already had about the upcoming year. Then he added that it was very helpful in a way that it brought up some things that he would need to look out for.
f. This reading was pretty easy for me even though I had a few people watching the entire time. At first I was a little nervous since I was the center of attention, but I tried not to let that bother me too much. It was a relief that I didn't have to try to answer a specific question, which is usually how readings with this friend are. I was very relaxed during this reading, and I noticed that I kind of just flowed from month to month.
If I had to pick something I need to work on, I'd say that I need to try to get over my "stage fright." There might be times that I will do a reading where there will be more person than just the querent and myself. Readings seem to draw attention to them, and it would help me if I was able to tune them out better than I currently do.
Reading #2
a. This reading was for my roommate's sister.
b. She wanted a relationship reading, so I used theThoughts Emotions Desires (http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?t=36938) spread from aeclectic.net.
c. I did this reading over IM.
d. No signifier was used.
e. She said the reading was very fun. I had pretty good accuracy during this reading, and she said that I hit a few things right on target. She also said that the reading was sort of helpful. It brought up things she already knew about her situation, and she might be able to ponder over some of those things.
f. This reading was very difficult for me. Since I know her in real life, it was hard to do this type of reading for her because I know the people involved. It was hard for me to set aside my own thoughts and emotions so I wouldn't affect the cards. I had doubts about doing this reading from the beginning, but I figured I'd try it anyway. When I first dealt the cards and started the reading, I thought they were messing with me. At one point, I thought I was going to have to stop, and do a different reading altogether. I took a minute to collect myself, and was able to continue. After that, the cards seemed to fall right into place.
This reading showed me how important it is to listen to your gut. I should've went with my initial reaction when she told me what kind of reading she wanted. Even though the reading was accurate, I realize how difficult it can be to go against your own intuition. This shows me that I need to work on listening more to my own intuition, and trying to not let my own feelings get in the way of the cards.
Reading #3
a. Melle (MW member)
b. She wanted a fun reading, so I used the Past life spread (http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?t=3339) from aeclectic.net.
c. This reading was done in person.
d. A signifier was used. I was originally not going to use one, but it literally jumped out of the deck. Weirdly enough, the card I was thinking of using was the one that jumped out.
e. She found this reading very fun and enjoyable. Since it was a past life reading, it's hard to tell how accurate it was, but the small amount of cards that relate to this life turned out to be pretty accurate. She said that the reading was helpful in a way that she'd be able to ponder what came up in the reading and see how it fits into her current life.
f. This reading was very easy, and very enjoyable for me. I was able to interpret most of the cards without ever having to look at the LWB. Also, I noticed that I was able to tie the cards into a storyline very easily.
The one thing I would say I need to work on in this type of reading is trying to make the stories flow a little easier. I find it difficult sometimes to get my thoughts into words, and by the time I do, I tend to lose some of those thoughts.
Reading #4
a. moria636 (MW member)
b. She wanted a relationship reading. I used the Useful Relationship Spread (http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23670) from aeclectic.net.
c. I did this reading over IM.
d. No signifier was used for this reading.
e. She said that she enjoyed this reading very much, and it was entertaining. She said the reading was pretty accurate, and was very good. She also said it was helpful, but did not elaborate on how.
f. This reading was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be considering it was my first one on a complete stranger, and I'm amazed at how accurate it was. My nervousness made it slightly difficult at the beginning, but after a few cards, I loosened up a lot. Some cards were drawn that I've never had in a reading before, which also added to the difficulty some.
This reading showed me that I need to work on letting my intuition speak. Since I was reading for someone I didn't know, I held back slightly at first not knowing I was doing so. I realized that if I have a question about something that I see, I shouldn't be afraid of asking it if I think it'll help me interpret the cards better. Also, I'd like to work on doing readings for strangers. I think the practice would help me not be so nervous, and it would keep me from blocking up.
Reading #5
a. Crosshroomhead (MW member)
b. He wanted a personal inner type of reading. I used the SWOT Analysis Spread (http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?t=30523) from aeclectic.net.
c. I did this reading over IM.
d. No signifier was used.
e. He said the reading was enojoyable and was very good. The accuracy was great, and at one point I said something just as he was thinking it. Some of the interpretation of the cards were close to being exact on what was either going on or has happened. In his own words, "You hit the nail on the head." He said the reading was very helpful, and that it's making him contemplate a current situation that's going on in his life right now.
f. This reading was very easy for me. At the start of the reading, it was a little slow going, but towards the end, I couldn't keep up with my mind. With it being such a personal spread, I was a little worried about stepping on some toes, which made me second guess myself. I soon got over that, and that's when the reading really started to flow.
This reading showed me once again to listen to my own intuition. When I second guessed myself, I wasn't being very accurate. It's only when I completely let myself go is when I started hitting the nail on the head.
The reason I hardly used a signifier in my readings is because I found that it trips me up. I've tried it a few times over the past few weeks, and I found it more of a hinderence than a help.
I also really wanted to try my hand at creating my own deck, but I knew that'd I would not be able to complete it for quite some time. I do plan on working on one though, but I want to wait until I get a better grasp of the cards. :D I also have to say that I really enjoyed this assignment, and that even though this class is over I'm going to keep practicing. I found out that I love reading for other people, and it's a lot easier than reading for myself.

Thanks a lot you two! It's been great teaching you.
Lolith, regarding Reading #3, you may find it easier creating story lines after some practice... I suggest trying Exercise #4 that I posted. I'm exactly the same way with signifiers... they seem to make the reading unnecessarily complicated for me... I also find it easier and more fun to do readings for others. :)
I'll be pming both of you your graduation banners. :)

Final posting. Apologies for it being a few days past due date. Work and life got in the way and as I didn't want to give rushed readings to members here and then wait for replies on the reading, I waited until I was able to get friends in person to do readings for. I understand if you give a lower mark for this final assignment and hope that its still accepted.
Reading #1
a. Reading for Viseux(MW Member).
b. Wanted a spread dealing with current situation at work. I used my Gothic Tarot deck and the Celtic Cross spread.
c. This reading was done via PM.
d. No signifier was used.
e. Feedback from Viseux: The reading seems to be spot on with the only exception being the 5th card negative female influence which I can't understand from a job/work standpoint, but certainly can otherwise.
I certainly appreciate your time and effort and believe the reading to be beneficial.
Thank You!
f. This was my first reading in a while using an actual spread and not just drawing a card or two. I found it fairly easy to interpret and convey the messages the cards were telling me. It was an interesting reading in that both the King and Queen of Cups appeared in sequential order. The court cards sometimes give me problems because I can have some difficulties perveing which person in the querents life the card represents.
Other then that, the cards seemed to work with me.
Though a few times I found myself flipping to my LWB. I need to work on letting the cards speak to me more. I think I also need to take more time doing the reading. While the one I did I set aside 20-30 minutes, I did pause some at different cards trying to see what they were saying.
Also, I need to work more on relating cards to previous. I tend to take each card individually and not use them as one part of a whole, as much as I should.
Overall, I'd say the reading was enjoyable for me and I was able to deliver a reading that Viseux enjoyed having and sounds farily accurate to the current situation.
Reading #2
a. Reading for a friend(Melissa).
b. Wanted just a general reading as she never had one before. I used my Gothic Tarot deck and a quick 3 card pull spread.
c. This reading was done in person.
d. No signifier was used.
e. Feedback from friend: As it was her first reading, she wasn't sure what to expect and was excited and a little nervous at the same time. :) The cards pulled and what my interpretation told her was accurate to her current situation/thoughts. The final card of the 3 gave her something to think about on how to progress and get out of the rut she feels that she is in.
f. This one was my first reading in person for another person. Previously, I had read for myself a few times and via pm's here. As she was looking for just a general spread and not really anything dealing with a specific question, I felt that a 3 card pull would be more then adequate for the reading.
I actually found it pretty easy to read in person and certainly enjoyed the reactions during each card and my telling the interpretation. It certainly is a little more gratefiying then through PM's(Though I will still do these on occasion).
Reading #3
a. Reading for friend(Jason).
b. Wanted a reading, but wasn't sure what to focus on. He mentioned that he has been feeling trapped in life and not sure what to do or where to turn. I thought it was a good opportunity to use the spread I came up with in a previous assignment. I used my Gothic Tarot deck and the Wall spread.
c. This reading was done in person.
d. No signifier was used.
e. Feedback from friend: My friend thanked me for the reading and pointed out that for the most part, the cards were accurate. There was one or two that touched on some issues, but didn't seem to nail them 100%. The resulting picture from the finished spread definetly gave him some food for thought and he believes he should be able to move on and get some direction/focus in his life.
f. This was the second time using my spread, first was for me. I thought it went pretty well. Might need to tweak it a little as it is a spread that takes me a while. Though that could be my getting used to using it and the fact that it has a decent number of cards to be pulled. Both of us enjoyed the reading though and felt that it was a positive experience.
Reading #4
a. Reading for friend(Chester).
b. Wanted a spread dealing with knowing if financial situation would ever improve. I wasn't quite as comfortable doing this type of question, but since it was phrased in such a way that he wasn't looking to find out if he would win the lottery or at gambling, it aleviated some of my concerns. I used my Gothic Tarot deck and the Rainbow of Prosperity spread (http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24686) from Aeclectic.
c. This reading was done in person.
d. No signifier was used.
e. Feedback from friend: He told me that the reading was actually very accurate. The cards revealed things that he definetly had done in the past to cause his current situation. In his words "the cards were brutally honest, but they showed me what I need to do." I took that as a compliment for myself as well, since he commented to me that I did a "great job."
f. As I mentioned, I was a bit hesitent at first doing this type of reading for another. but his insistance and the easy with which the cards and interpretation flowed made me much more relaxed and able to deliver a proper reading.
Reading #5
a. Reading for friend(Amy).
b. Wanted a spread dealing with current situation at work. I used my Gothic Tarot deck and the Present life explained by past life[/url spread.
c. This reading was done in person.
d. No signifier was used.
e. Feedback from friend: She definetly saw some of the traits the cards painted for her past life in her present self. She was intriquied to find out in the past life the cards revealed that she was a male that while not a leader or authority figure in the town, he was someone that people sought for advice. I hesitated to call him a spiritual man, but those images came to me. Perhaps he was once a priest/advisor but moved on and still gave advice when sought.
f. These spreads are kind of taken as is with no real way to verify their revealings. Certainly , you can see some of the traits in yourself presently, but you rely on the cards and insight to paint a picture of what the person was like in their past life. She had never had a reading like this done before and had only heard of it one day after web searching for tarot cards. I think she enjoyed it though and took something from it.
I have thououghly enjoyed this class and you did a wonderful job teaching it. I will be posting my feedback in the thread you started on for that.
Again, apologies for my delay.

I have finished my 5 readings. I have PM'd them to you. I guess mine were a little long winded, and I wasn't comfortable placing them here.
Thank you Amethyst for this class. It has helped me start trusting and using my intuition more. I like that.

Assignment 7
A. My first reading was for AuntBooPeaceFrog who is an MW member.
B. I used a Finding Lost Objects Spread (http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28732) from Aeclectic Tarot (http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?t=31867).
C. I did this reading by PM.
D. I used a signifier based on her personality. I also used number of shuffles and cuts bases on what she decided.
E. The querent was very pleased with the reading given that I helped point her in the direction of her lost object. Her thread describing a little of both my reading and her epiphany as to the location of the crystal can be found here (http://www.mysticwicks.com/showpost.php?p=1669046&postcount=64)
F. The reading was very easy, however, I need to work on not getting an answer stuck in my head as the only possibility. I was so certain it was her bed that I could almost see it. I am also still using the book a lot, which I need to wean myself from.
A. The next reading was for my mother.
B. I used a career spread called SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) ( http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30523), from the Aeclectic Tarot forum.
C. I initially contacted her by phone, worked on the spread for a few days and emailed the final product to her. I called her again and went over the reading with her.
D. I used a signifier based on age and personality.
E. The querent was amazed (moms! ) with the reading in that it answered her question perfectly. It wasn’t necessarily the answer she wanted, but it was appropriate to the question.
F. This reading was tough. It was a twelve card spread, and for a very tricky question. It took me a lot of time to do. I would work on it for a bit, let it go for a while, and come back to it to see if I missed anything. I felt a great deal of responsibility was riding on my reading. I need to work on objectivity. If I ever want to read for clients I must not get so emotionally involved in the reading I imagine it will be easier for people I don’t love so much, but then again, if they are repeat clients and I grow fond of them, I might run into a similar issue.
A. Then I read for my son.
B. I used another Aeclectic Tarot spread, The Pot Of Gold ( http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24686).
C. I did a live reading for him.
D. I did not use any signifiers, since he was there in person to handle the cards.
E. The querent was not happy with the outcome of the reading, but thought it was fun having his cards read. (He doesn’t necessarily believe what they said, however.)
F. Didn’t have to use the book so much for this one, but this reading was really hard. My son is so focused on whether or not he’ll be rich when he grows up, and every reading (including runes) we have done has said that he will be happier if he lives life not worrying about it… I guess that if I were to read for clients, I would run into the same situation, and must learn how to deal with either directing someone to other questions or not reading for that person.
A.I read for another MW member, Lost_Sole.
B.I used yet another Aeclectic Tarot spread, Three Month Time Tree ( http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24598).
C. I did this reading by PM.
D. I used a signifier based on his age, personality, and his affinity to a particular element. I used the number of shuffles and cuts he decided on.
E. Querent reports that I was fairly accurate, but since this is a future reading, we will not know about the rest of it for the next three months.
F.I found this reading relatively easy, but worried the most on accuracy, since I know so little about him, and got no feedback while I was doing the reading. For some reason it was more difficult than for my first MW member. I used the book a lot on this one. I think that if I do readings for people, it would be better for me to start doing them in person and working up to doing them for strangers by internet. Also, I ran into a couple of cards that didn't "feel" right and I wasn't certain how to handle them.
A. My last querant was Sennefer, another MW member.
B. I used a spread I made up myself, basically “What Happens If She Does This/What Happens If She Doesn’t.”
C. I did this reading by PM.
D. I used a signifier based on age and personality. I also shuffled and cut based on the querant’s choices.
E. Querent was excited about the reading since it was her very first one. She said I was very accurate and that I helped her a lot in confirming what she already knew about her decision.
F. Wow! This reading was the easiest of the five. I thought it would be difficult because she asked a yes/no question, but I rephrased it as a “what if she does/what if she doesn't” question and it worked fabulously. I am still relying on the book a little too much, but I imagine that as I get more experience and confidence under my belt this will stop. I also ran into two of the dreaded court cards, which I am still having trouble with.
Okay, I still need to work on court cards and not relying on the book so much. But overall, the reading were pretty accurate and so I also need to have more confidence in myself as a reader. I really enjoyed this exercise. I don’t think I would have had the courage to do so many readings for folks online if not for it. Even though I may feel more confident reading for people in real life or over the phone, I may join the Tarot Reader's Guild at some point and try to get more experience. Thanks for pushing us, this was a GREAT exercise!!! :abanana:

Thanks a lot, Raven Reed! I really enjoy hearing about the readings and seeing your progress. I think that for the next class I'll include a lesson specifically on court cards.
Thanks again! I'll PM your banner to you. :)

I chose
Do 2 readings for people you know IRL, and 3 readings for MW members, not your partner! Use different spreads for each person.
Answer the same questions as above.
Preparation before each reading
Chakra Cleansing by visualization methods
The first reading was done for a MW member by pm. The question revolved around relocating. I used a spread I saw on eclectic tarot forums called The moving spread. the spread consisted of 9 cards that were laid to resemble the letter M. No signifier was used.
The Spread
3-----------7
2---4--6---8
1-----5----9
Feedback
The querent was happy with my reading but because the question deals more so with future results, I will have to wait for further feedback. The querent did specify that signs she had hoped for were indicated in my reading.
The second reading was also done for a MW member by pm and again I found an appropriate spread at eclectic forum. This question dealt with changes in finance and residence. I used questions from 2 spreads and ended up with six questions. The questions were laid in an horizontal line with the advice card above and the outcome card below. No signifier was used.
The Spread
-----5-----
1--2--3--4
-----6-----
Feedback
The querent was really happy with the reading and gave encouraging feedback. I was told that some changes I specified in the reading were already starting to take place!
The last reading for a MW member was done by pm and involved the querant's career. I saw this spread once again at eclectic. It is a goal orientated spread and no signifier was used.
The Spread
12---
---56
34---
Feedback
The querant was very satisfied and I was told that my reading was really accurate especially with the interpretation's of the querant's home life and personality traits.
My querants were extremely nice and encouraging! Thanks guys! :heartthro
The fourth reading was done for my husband. He asked me his question and I did the reading when he was not home.He wanted to know what his experiences at his job will progress into. I did a career spread that I saw on MW. It was laid out this way and no signifier was used.
The Spread
C-reative expression: what you bring to this job/career
A-ction: how this job will help you reach your goals
R-esponsibility: be aware of with this job
E-nergy: what energy surrounds this job
E-arnings: what this career/job gives you
R-elationships: coworker influences, new interpersonal relations
I also drew an additional advice card
Feedback
His reaction was very positive and He felt the reading reflected some of his questions and doubts. One card's interpretation of struggle with others lead him to tell me about some minor troubles he had been having with an co-worker.
The last reading was done for my sister. It was done by telephone. I gave her a quick reading and then later through e-mail a longer interpretation.I chose the Direct Path spread located in my Ancestral Path booklet by Tracey Hoover. She wanted to have some insight towards how she could improve some things in her life. It consisted of 10 questions and a signifier that is place at zero. I chose her signifier by personality.
The spread resembled this
The Spread
--------------------------------------------------------------------------10
-----------------------------------------------------------------------9
--------------0----------------------------4----------------------8-
-------------------------1--------------3-----------5---------7
---------------------------------2-----------------------6
Feedback
She was very impressed with my reading and agreed with the areas that I indicated needed improvement.
I have to say that I went in this last assignment  and came out
This was a really positive experience and a great last assignment. I also learned what I need to work on some also. This would be court cards, for some reason I just seem to have trouble interpreting them. Good suggestion with adding a lesson on just them Raven Reed! :sunny: Other than that I had no real problems with interpretations and except for court card kept my reference checking to a minimum.
Thanks Amethyst Rose for a very well structured and informative class! This has been an enjoyable . I had a wonderfully talented partner who was also really encouraging, So thanks for pairing us up!

You do not have to post the readings!

e. She said the reading was pretty accurate and that I did vey well. She said I "hit this one right on the mark!". However, my interpretation of Justic took her a while to figure out. I guess it was because my description was not very clear.
f. I was easy for the most part. It just really occured to me how I need so much more experience with the cards. However, I was able to rely more on my intuition more than the traditional card meaning, which I thought was very good. All I need is some more experience and I'll be ready to go!
a.DebLipp
b. 5 card spread (similar to a crosss)
c. PM
d.no significator
e. She said it was a decent reading and made sense for the most part. She couldn't understand why I attributed Strength to love & comfort, since she say that unusual. I guess that's ok, though. Because Deb is a Tarot teacher, she advised me to look deeper at the card patterns to get a better idea of the overall reading.
f. I agree with DebLipp. I know the basic card meanigs, I just need to look for patterns and apply those patterns to the readings.
a. RedRaven
b. business spread*
c. IM
d. no significator
e. He thought that it was a good reading. To him, it simply conformed things that were already in the back of his head. What's interesting is that things that I mentioned directly corresponded to his astrological natal (birth) chart. Raven was very pleased and said it was a great reading.
f. I also thought it went well. It was a lot easier to do readings through IM than PM. Though was more typing, it felt less since he was able to respond. Also, I was able to use my intuition based on the imagry to give an accurate reading. I see this as a big deal because I usually don't rely on my intuition when doing readings, at least not before this assignment.
People In Real Life
a. a friend
b. general reading (15 cards)
c. Phone
e. no significator
d. My friend thought is was very accurate and well done. She told me that she was very greatful for the offer and extremely impressed. According to her, I "hit it on the tail".
f. This was a really hard reading. It felt as if I was pulling teeth trying to get the meanings of the cards. No only could I not remember the meanings well, I couldn't understand my intuition. I think the big deal was that I was on the phone and I wanted to impress her. Maybe it was just too much pressue. To my suprise, she thought it was excellent, so I must not have done too bad. What I feel I need to work on is learning the card meanings on a deeper level and trying to retain that information.
a. a friend/teacher
b. Career Spread*
c. e-mail
d. no significator
e. Chris told me the reading was head on and very helpful. He said it really gave him something to think about. Overall, he was very pleased.
d. I tried to rely on my intuition more than the traditional card meanings. Because of this, I got ideas about things in his life that were not nessicarily "in the cards". I guess that's what happens when you start to rely on you intuition more than tradition. I still feel as if I require a lot more study and research before I can become a professional reading.

READING 1:
a. Nepheria (MW Member)
b. Celtic Cross
c. The reading was done in PM
d. I didn't use a signifier, I just focused on her name and her question while shuffling the cards.
e. The querant thought that the reading was very accurate, she said it was "quite amazing".
f. This reading was very easy for me. I felt connected to her in some sense, the card meanings just came out, and everything seemed to just click. I've done readings before, and I just knew that this one was going to be successful and strong.
SECOND READING:
a. witchsmacked
b. Horseshoe spread
c. The reading was done in PM
d. Once again I didn't use a signifier, I just focused on her name and question while shuffling the cards
e. The querant thought that the reading made a lot of sense and answered relevant issues. She said that the reading was great!
f. This reading was also easy for me to tune into. Though I don't personally know her, it was as if the cards just wanted to say what they said. I didn't struggle with the meanings at all.
THIRD READING
a. Violetmist
b. Triskele spread
c. The reading was done in PM
d. Same as before, no signifier, I just focused on her name and question while shuffling.
e. The querant didn't seem to think that anything applied to her. She did say she was going to meditate on the answers, but didn't really relate.
f. I was honestly expecting this response, as I just couldn't get that connection with her. I tried, by shuffling and reshuffling, but it was forced. I don't know if this was because it was the first time I was using this spread or if it was because there was just too much energy that I couldn't tap into regarding her question. A part of me thinks that I should have just waited to read her a few more days, but I did set up a deadline for myself so that I could complete all readings. I do feel bad, but I think that I did the best with the energy I could grab onto. This reading really tested me. I couldn't coalesce all of the card meanings to one another. Whereas in the others I could tie in cards to one another, I couldn't do this with this reading. It was very muddled and cloudy.
FOURTH READING
a. my sister
b. three card spread past/present/future
c. the reading was done in person
d. No signifier used, I allowed her to shuffle the cards while focusing on her question, she allowed me to meditate on her while she was shuffling. She didn't tell me what her question was.
e. She thought that the reading was very accurate. I was expecting this because she is my sister. I have read for her before and have touched exactly on what she was thinking and on how things were really going to happen. My sister has yet to be upset regarding a reading I have done for her.
f. Reading for my sister is easy as I know her so very well. I think that it works for me to allow her to infuse the deck with her energies while I try to concentrate on picking them up from her and the cards. I occasionally feel that I should sugar coat a bit with her, because I don't want to hurt her when the cards show something less than ideal, but I remain honest with her, I just say it extra sweetly. :smileroll
FIFTH READING
a. Tommy (friend)
b. Stretching Cat Spread (the one I made up for Assignment 6)
c. Reading was done through email
d. No signifier, I just focused on him and his energies while shuffling and thinking of his question.
e. He thought that the reading was really accurate, hopeful, and cool! He was so moved that he is now taking tarot classes on the internet hoping to learn what I was able to do for him! Isn't that great!!! :acheeer:
f. It was very easy to read for Tommy since I know him well and can easily pick up on his energies. Once again, I felt that I had to sugar coat a bit. I had to be nice to him, because I know that he is sensitive and I didn't want to hurt his feelings. Once again, I was honest, but I didn't want to hurt him at all. He really wants his life to head in the right direction, but he's easily discouraged. I did tell him nicely that he had to put a little more work into achieving his goals.
The things that I am really wondering overall is how to address the issue of not being able to tap into others energies, like I had problems with for my third reading. And, is it wrong of me to sugar coat, or should I be blunt? I don't want anyone to be upset, but I also don't want to compromise what the cards are saying.
Thanks so much for this class. I have learned so much and am much more confident with my reading abilities! This class rocks!!!

I typed up my assignment in Word and it didn't want to copy and paste right, so I'm just attaching the word file here. I'm also attaching my diagrams of the spreads I used (all in one file).
Edited because I forgot to add that my spreads came from:
Extended Celtic Cross: The LWB that came with Celtic Dragon Tarot (which I used for all of the readings).
Spiral, Path to a Goal and Facing the Gap all came from this site (http://www.geocities.com/alyx_charis/layout.html)
The New Year Spread I adapted from this spread (http://www.tarotpassages.com/Pages2/2005Jansprd.htm)

Thanks to everyone who's gotten in your assignments, you've all been PMed your banners. :) You've all done a great job! (if anyone's reading this right now, and you haven't gotten your banner yet, it's because you pmed your assignment to me, and I havent' gotten to those yet.)
LadyAutumnCat, in answer to your question....I prefer to sugar coat a little bit, rather than just being blunt, but it does depend on the situation. Sometimes blunt is exactly what a person needs to hear, you know? And sometimes you just don't click with someone when doing their cards.... for me it happens if I can't concentrate or am distracted, or even if the person doesn't believe in tarot. I wouldn't worry about it too much. You tried your best. :) You may want to try to do another reading for her at another time.

[sighs] I had filled out this assignment after performing each reading and PMed it myself, updating as I went along. Somewhere along the line the PM disappeared. Now that I have to type it up long after most of the readings have passed, the quality will not be as good as it once was. I also preferred to have them answer questoin e.) as I wanted an honest response as much as possible, both for my sake and yours to check progress and skill level. Of course, these people at Mystic Wicks are too damn nice, not one ounce of criticism! ;) Don't blame me, I told them to be absolutely honest and that my skin was thick, so if they had criticism to blow me away with it.
Reading #1
a. who the reading was for Kaylara
b. what spread you used Infinite Wisdom spread, the one I created
c. the method used for the reading (IM, PM, email, phone or in person) Phone
d. if a signifier or other method (astrology, numerology, etc.) was used to help the reading (you do not have to tell me the specifics). No, though I do recall a astrological references appearing throughout the reading reflecting her own chart, but that was not intentional and alluded more to confirmation rather than linking my deck to her for the time being.
e. what the querrant though of the reading (did they enjoy it? was it accurate? was it helpful?) Kay was busy and kept forgetting to give me her feedback, so I'm gonna have to answer for her unlike the rest.
She said I did a wonderful job (she lies a lot too and flatters me, so I'm not sure we can trust her!) and created a very wonderful spread. What I told her was very accurate and more of an "Open your eyes!" ordeal rather than revealing hidden things, as with some readings.
f. was the reading easy for you? What do you feel you need to work on? This reading I do recall being very easy for me. One thing I did learn throughout the reading, as Kay pointed out, was that when other people are the focus, cause or are surrounding an issue swords and wands usually relate to male influences and cups and pentacles/coins relate to feminine influences. This held true in this reading, and that was an interesting pattern I plan to continue looking for. Overall though, what I feel I need to work on most from this reading is being more aware of patterns (I should have seen that one, don't know why I didn't) and I had more trouble foreseeing the future as opposed to the present, something I'm not too happy with.
Reading #2
a. who the reading was for Bainidhe Dub
b. what spread you used Celtic Cross
c. the method used for the reading (IM, PM, email, phone or in person) Chatroom
d. if a signifier or other method (astrology, numerology, etc.) was used to help the reading (you do not have to tell me the specifics). None this time
e. what the querrant though of the reading (did they enjoy it? was it accurate? was it helpful?) Her own words:
"Wonderful. VERY accurate to the situation, Raveny did a wonderful job - upfront and honest, without trying to give me just the good parts and leaving out potential negative things.
It was extremely helpful, and Raveny worded his advice in a positive manner, without being overly patronizing or saying "You should/n't do this or that" or so vague that I couldn't make heads or tails of the reading.
I'd definitely go back to RavenyPoo for another reading"
f. was the reading easy for you? What do you feel you need to work on? This reading was actually extremely easy for me. In fact I recall numerous times the cards revealing things beyond my range of knowledge that were dead on. This may be in part because I entered a deeper state of alpha while I was at the computer, which I find to be more easily achieved if someone isn't chirpin' in your ear. Looking back if there is one thing I would need to work on it would be more detail, I'm not quite satisfied with the level of detail I offered in this reading.
Reading #3
a. who the reading was for ryverchilde
b. what spread you used Triskele Spread
c. the method used for the reading (IM, PM, email, phone or in person) Chatroom
d. if a signifier or other method (astrology, numerology, etc.) was used to help the reading (you do not have to tell me the specifics). Nope, not this time either
e. what the querrant though of the reading (did they enjoy it? was it accurate? was it helpful?) Her own words:
"I thought the reading was very accurate. Aidron even responded in a somewhat personal manner: ie. he just didn't read the cards, he gave some helpful advice and made it fun. I would gladly have Aidron do another reading for me if he ever wanted too."
f. was the reading easy for you? What do you feel you need to work on? One thing I really enjoyed about this reading was the spread, which seemed to work quite well for me as I found the reading to be extremely easy. I am still concerned about future predictions which this reading pointed out to me, with so many possibilities it can be difficult for me to lock on to which one and I think that may hinder my readings. I tend to see numerous outcomes, in other words. Another interesting point I found was that the spread matters so much more than the number of cards for me in terms of how much detail I can provide. With only four cards I saw a great deal more detail in this reading than most that utilize more cards. On a lighter note, this reading showed a few details that I deemed extremely personal. I didn't tell what they were, but alluded to it as I did not want her to die on the spot from blushing too much. I'll never repeat the exact details, but I thought it interesting that something so personal and deep came up in the reading, something even I wasn't about to inform her of other than a few hints. Especially not since I was told she was shaking after the reading (sorry ryver, didn't mean to make ya shake!) and I don't want my guinea pigs dying off on me!
Reading #4
a. who the reading was for KellyP
b. what spread you used Iris
c. the method used for the reading (IM, PM, email, phone or in person) Chatroom
d. if a signifier or other method (astrology, numerology, etc.) was used to help the reading (you do not have to tell me the specifics). No, but mild astrological references were denoted in the reading as a reflection of his personality.
e. what the querrant though of the reading (did they enjoy it? was it accurate? was it helpful?) His own words:
"Having this as my first tarot reading, I was quite pleased at the way it was conducted and the results obtained. Aidron asked a few key questions without seeming to search for any tip-offs to what answers I might be wanting to hear. Then I believe the cards were read in a very insightful and professional way. Where there was room for varying interpretation Aidron would provide both alternatives.
I made notes of the spread used and the results in my journal. Most of Aidron's comments were formed in such a manner as to provide definite points of reflection as I proceed in the days and weeks ahead. If all of the CoT Tarot graduates do so well, I look forward to more readings from the MW crew."
f. was the reading easy for you? What do you feel you need to work on? I started out performing this reading with another spread, as I was running out of spreads I felt comfortable and familiar with. I looked over your games thread and decided to apply the Iris one to this situation, which helped a great deal. He seems to have a fondness for plants, and in particular the iris, so I think that in a way worked as its own signifier to a degree and definitely helped the process. One thing I'm starting to notice with this experience is I can look back over the cards after I have already read from them and continue to pick up more and more information. Whether it be the general overview of the reading, or re-examining each card for further detail. This also makes me believe that clarification cards are not necessary for me.
Reading #5
a. who the reading was for Bethra
b. what spread you used Horseshoe
c. the method used for the reading (IM, PM, email, phone or in person) Chatroom
d. if a signifier or other method (astrology, numerology, etc.) was used to help the reading (you do not have to tell me the specifics). None, though elemental influences did make an appearance in the spread, speaking of her and others.
e. what the querrant though of the reading (did they enjoy it? was it accurate? was it helpful?) Her own words:
"Aidron did a very good, very informative and very accurate reading for me. He used a lot of his instinct and was able to pick up on many things that the meanings of the cards just don't convay on their own. I can go away from this reading with amunition to change the problems we found in the reading and make my relasionship a much happier one."
f. was the reading easy for you? What do you feel you need to work on? This reading, like the one above, were not my most successful ones to be honest. With the lesson due today I forced myself to read last night even though I had a mild headache, and have had one for awhile (sinus headache? dammit...). Still, I think I did a good job in overcoming that hurdle to still provide an adequate reading. Normally I wouldn't have read in such a case, but given the assignment is due today I just sucked it up. This one was performed shortly after the above reading, and overall I consider this one my least successful reading. I was tired, my headache was getting a bit worse, and I didn't seem to hear her or the cards as well as I would like personally. Now, despite what she says, as who is going to be brutally honest but me ( ) I still feel I could have done at least 50% better.
For info on my spreads, here is a bit of reference:

ok...so even though i don't feel totally comfortable with creating my own deck, i did it anyway. :) for now, the cards are CRUDE! EEK i plan to continue working them more thoroughly later though...depicting MUCH better art work and laminating them once i'm done. i found some really nice card stock, now i just have to get some really neat graphic/art software to do what i want (or maybe i'll simply draw/paint them and go from there.
for now, as i said the cards are quite crude, the basis of my deck is as follows:
major arcana - deities i feel represent similar qualities of the major arcana cards. for now, i've painted colors, flowers, trees, or other symbols to signify which deity (along with a blueprint for my reference) each card represents.
minor arcana - is based on the four elements. in this, i've included herb cards, stone cards and other symbol type cards which represent each element (for each suit).

Well, I've been having computer problems, so I only got to write down the assignment and then go to it. And I didn't note that I had to do different spreads for each reading. So, mine are similar and the same. I'm sorry about that. But here it is:
COT: Tarot Final Project
Reading 1
a: Name: BrigidMoon (MW member)
b: Spread: Celtic Cross
c: Method used (IM, PM, email, phone, in person): PM
d. If a signifyer or other method (numerology, astrology) was used: a card fell out while shuffling- I used it as significant to the situation
e: What the querant thought of the reading: helped her- thought it was uplifting
f: Was it easy for you? What do you feel you need to work on? This one was easy to read- first two cards VERY OBVIOUSLY corresponded to the people involved. It seemed very self-explanatory. It was great to get her feedback.
Reading 2
a: Name: Laureletsage (MW member and covenmate)
b: Spread: Celtic Cross (w/ clarifiers pulled)
c: Method used (IM, PM, email, phone, in person): In Person
d. If a signifyer or other method (numerology, astrology) was used: No
e: What the querant thought of the reading: made a lot of sense to her, explained a lot of things
f: Was it easy for you? What do you feel you need to work on? I need to work on my confidence when doing an in person reading. I find that via PM, I can look stuff up, and take my time, but in person, I really need to rely on my instinct. It's just getting comfortable in my role as reader, I think.
Reading 3
a: Name: Temptation (MW member)
b: Spread: Celtic Cross
c: Method used (IM, PM, email, phone, in person): PM
d. If a signifyer or other method (numerology, astrology) was used: No
e: What the querant thought of the reading: She said that I was accurate and good at this. Yay! :)
f: Was it easy for you? What do you feel you need to work on? This one was pretty easy, too. Its becoming interesting how the cards really tell a story, once you understand the symbolism. I'm beginning to realize that its really up to the reader to open themselves up intuitively to be able to tell the story.
Reading 4
a: Name: ~*FloraCove*~ (MW member)
b: Spread: 6 month (pulled 1-6, for each month, then 7-12 as clarifiers)
c: Method used (IM, PM, email, phone, in person): PM
d. If a signifyer or other method (numerology, astrology) was used: No
e: What the querant thought of the reading: she thought it was right on- and that I did a really good job- yay! :)
f: Was it easy for you? What do you feel you need to work on? This was one type of 6 month reading I was trying to do. I wanted to explore two different types of 6 month readings. This one was a little more difficult than the other one I did. It was difficult, because she wanted a love life reading, and it was interesting to see that the cards I pulled really had nothing to do traditionally with love, but symbolically, I could find the parallels.
Reading 5
a: Name: 1111 (MW member)
b: Spread: 6 month (2 cards each month -drawn consecutively)
c: Method used (IM, PM, email, phone, in person): PM
d. If a signifyer or other method (numerology, astrology) was used: None
e: What the querant thought of the reading: said I hit the nail on the head, so far :)
f: Was it easy for you? What do you feel you need to work on? This reading was supposed to be a general one, but as I was drawing the cards, I saw that it was definitely skewing one particular way. I feel as though I'm really beginning to hear what the cards have to tell me.
_____
It was very exciting to hear such great feedback, made me feel like a 'real' tarot reader. :) I really feel a lot more confident in my readings now, and will continue to practice. Thank you so much for this class, I've learned so much. I'm recommending it to friends like crazy! :)

ok...so even though i don't feel totally comfortable with creating my own deck, i did it anyway. :)
Wow, I must say I'm quite impressed that you've been able to create your own deck. :) Is it possible to see one of the cards?
Please, answer the questions I posted in the assignment, in relation to your deck, and post a card image if you can (if not, that's okay though), and I'll give you your banner. :)

Upaged my post on page 3 I believe, but here it is again just incase.

I'm going to go ahead and post the results of my first two readings because they are fresh on my mind.
Reading 1
a. Member Spera on MW
b. Celtic Cross
c. PM
d. Signifier
e. She enjoyed the reading because it was blunt and to the point.
f. The meanings came easy to me....after I looked them up. I need to work on reading the cards without having to look up their meanings all the time.
Reading 2
a. LisaT4P member on MW
b. one card pull
c. PM
d. none
e. The querant enjoyed the reading and said it was helpful.
f. The one card pull is a bit difficult because I didn't get much insight on the first couple of pulls I had. I had to take a break, visualize the question more, then try again until I got the right results. Full out spread take longer, but they're easier to see a meaning in it.
Reading 3
a. Bethra
b. Horoscope Spread found here (http://home1.pacific.net.sg/~mun_hon/tarot/horoscop.htm)
c. PM
d. none
e. The querant enjoyed the reading and said it was pretty accurate. I was off on a few things but she helped me see what I did wrong.
f. It was a bit hard to get a general overview of the cards, but I think I'm improving.
Reading 4
a. TheSpiritWithin
b. Relationship Spread (http://www.tarotforum.net/showpost.php?p=333798&postcount=2)
c. PM
d. Basic reading done
e. Querant enjoyed the reading and actually requesting me to do another one. Nice ego boost there. :)

oh no!!!!! i just read this (i haven't been around much this week as i was dx'ed w/pneumonia on tuesday) and realized that almost 75% of my post is not even on there! i guess from the time that i wrote everything and clicked 'submit' that somehow (either my cat or my wee little monster man) erased it...:(
i'll try to work on it tonight...i've got to go back to the hospi for another workup and see how my lung capacity is. the dr's said if it wasn't better, i'd have to stay.:(
i'm so sorry...i didn't even read it over and now i've got to basically recreate it. i'll try to get it pm'ed when i get back.:(

I'm sorry it took so long for me to get this in.I had hope to do a couple of in-person readings, but that fell through and so I asked for volunteers on here.I've included the bits from their feedback that doesn't give away what the question answered was. After the first reading I had an easier time doing the rest, mainly because I quite letting myself worry about weather or not I was gonna get it right.I just grounded myself and went for it,and things went alot smoother. Now I've finally gained the confidence I was lacking before.
