View Full Version : Arts & Crafts Class - Any Interest?

I'm a huge arts and crafts fan, and joined MW too late to sign up for the Arts & Crafts here... *sadness*
So, I'm considering becoming a teacher for a new Arts & Crafts class, if there's enough interest! I've got lots of projects in mind, plenty that I'd love to do myself. I'd probably post one craft every two weeks, for 10 or so crafts, with detailed instructions, pictures if I can manage with my not so trusty digicam. *laugh*
Any takers? Who's interested?
Edit: Any ideas that you'd like to see? Any thoughts on how you'd like to see it run?

I would be up for it, but it would greatly depend on the materials needed for the crafts. I'm going to be moving soon, and money is going to become an issue for me. If things are inexpensive and easily gotten, I'd sign up in an instant.

I definately understand - money is *always* an issue for me. 8O Most, if not all, crafts will be inexpensive and made with easily found/purchased materials. I, myself, live in a place where the nearest craft store is 90 miles away, and even that is less well stocked than most people seem to have. :) And, if one craft idea seems to be a bit more pricey, I may add an alternative, cheaper craft to the lesson. Nothing is worse than being unable to participate due to finances!

me me me!!! i'm so very interested!!
well i checked out the things done in the last class offered and thought well there goes those ideas, i can just look here for that stuff. but i did like a few of the things they mentioned they'd like to see done, that didn't get done.
a big one for me would be jewelry, jazzed with different stones for different effects. also maybe something with the Sabbats...i've noticed several sites offer different ideas, it might be interesting to see how others create for their celebrations. it's so silly normally i can think of a million things but for some reason...i'm at a loss.
as for how the class is run, since i'm pretty new here i've no set thoughts, likes or dislikes on such things.
hope all that rambling helps.

:) I love practical stuff, too. What sort of things would you like to make? Suggestions are more than welcome!

Hey, how did I miss this before?? I'm a KEENLY interested artist, so ME TOO ALSO, as Mooch in "Mutts" would say!! :D I already have a couple of wands I made, hoping to do more, especially since I have a plethora of gemstones! (Budget, however: also a VERY big concern.)

Practical stuff would be great!! who needs another pretty trinket cluttering up the place when it can be something pretty and useful too??
i have a found piece of willow that is just aching to become a wand, at least i think that's what it wants to become. who can say about these things? maybe it just wants to be a nice May pole in my front yard...~grin~.
anyways....stuff i can use would be great
like this thing i saw in the last issue of Family Handyman magazine. it was in a bathroom, made a cupboard in the studs of the wall, no floor space taken up. when i saw it i thought...now that would make an excellent cabinet for all things witchy and wonderful.
not sure that would actually be arts and crafts so much as something else completely but i'm feeling all happy and full of gusto so i'm rambling away.
oh and i know a ton of online places to get arts and crafts supplies for cheap...course anyone who does crafts a lot probably has the same list i do...but heck...oh and Fire Mountain Gems is one of the best places i've seen to get stones and workings and things like that...

Hey - I'd love to get your list of suppliers, if you're willing to part! :) I haven't done a lot of ordering for crafty stuff online (mostly just hit up the stores in my area), but I'm always up for new sources!
I'm busy setting up a list of crafts and projects, and going through back issues of craft magazines and the like for projects to alter. Mostly useful, mostly cheap <--- my goals.

I saw a different class make runes, that might be neat, and I need a new wand, and maybe.. Oh i dunno, altar stuffs? on a side note If we can't afford the supplies can we still contribute idea's and time to the thread and not get "docked" for an incompleted assignment (money is extreamly extreamly tight and I might simply not be -able to do it at that moment, but I'll be making them in my mind ^.^ and at a later date.)

I definately understand the money situation. No worries. If you can't afford the supplies, you can just let me know. :)
I'm hesitant on runes - the rune classes generally have a section on making your own, but then... I still haven't done it, myself, so maybe we'll do that after all. :)
Making wands seem to be a popular idea. I like it, too! Will do some research into that...
Have some ideas for various bowls/plates. Also have some ideas for interesting beauty/body recipes, and candlemaking ideas...

I really like the idea....and I'd probably lurk. Because I'm not very crafty. I enjoy the heck out of arts and crafts...but I'm just not capable!
What about generic arts and crafts? Not necessarily pagan oriented? (and of course, I cannot think of an example....I'll be back)

Would there be a lot of interest in non-pagan, generalized crafts? :) I'm a crafter at heart, and love all crafts, so...
Lolith

It would be nice to maybe have a mix of the two. I'd like some more pagan related crafts, but they are all fun.

~gets all ready to start listing them, pops open my favorites file and gasps~
oh holy fuzz! that crafts list is about 50 sites long, and i know they aren't all supply stores. let me get them all sorted, a less than easy chore what with my puter having hmm how shall i say this? issues with it's motherboard. ~nods~ i just wanted to let ya know i haven't seen the post...it'll just take me a couple days to pull them all together....future post coming.

Excellent. Looks like there's probably enough interest here to go around. It'll be a bit before the class signups will begin - I'll get a list of everything I want to do together, and *then* we'll begin. Feel free to list suggestions if you have them.
