Who would like someone to teach about how to create a Ritual or Ceremonie? Well post here and we'll see if we can see if we can get one created. Post your opinions here. Thanks!!:apirate:

I think it's a good idea. Particularly if we go into detail about the ritual elements and what they do to your mindset: like how to effectively use, for example, music, to invoke an altered state of consciousness. And how these progress throughout the entire ritual... Ooh, I'd take a class like that! I've written some rits for my campus group, but I think I could be way more effective if I learned the theory and mechanics in depth... So, I said maybe, because I don't know exactly what the class would address, but it's more on the positive side of maybe. ^_^

I like the idea, but will I be ogbligated to do it?
I don't mind studying it or even doing a book of shadows on it with each lesson, but I don't know about participating, could I still be in the class if I don't or is it required?

I am brand new to this group, but you have pulled at my heartsting...
I own a store in Reno, Nevada. The Enchanted Realm. I teach Wicca (seven classes a week), and we host a Full Moon Ritual that is open to the public every month. When we began doing the Full Moons at the store, I opened it up to my students and non-students alike...for anyone who wanted to do a Full Moon, in their tradition. We have had some really great rituals, and some not so great.
It wasn't until recently that I discovered how BADLY a ritual could be written. The person who submitted the particuar ritual that I am talking about tried to put everything he ever learned in the last 12 years into this ritual. Needless to say it was quite lengthy. Furthermore, he didn't have a clue as to how to write a ritual, even though I have seen him at every public Sabbat for several years.
I didn't want to hurt his feelings, but my Coven and I sat down two nights before the ritual and re-wrote it. There wasn't much of his ritual left, by the time we finished. First of all, I wasn't going to call Tiamet (The Evil Goddess of Destructive Dragons) into my store! Secondly, I wasn't going to allow anyone to call for "Rainbow Bright Dragons". Sorry, but if I was a Dragon and someone referred to me as "Rainbow Bright", I'm afraid I would just have to show them how "bright" I could be. There were just too many things that had to be removed and changed from this ritual.
He also had the steps of the ritual out of order. We do things in a certain order because it is necessary. You don't have cakes and ale until you have finished your Magickal workings? Why, well...cakes and ale serve two purposes. First, they help you to ground the excess energy that has been built up during your Magickal working. Second, cakes and ale are used to thank the Gods for their help. It also is the time when we enjoy their company. And we begin to wind down the ritual. Make sense?
I don't know how it would work to teach this on line, but I would be happy to give whatever help I can. If you want... Morrigan

As I'm pretty new, I'd like to have someone with experience give detailed guidelines of the things to do and particularly not to do, as spells may backfire... we all know that, but how to prevent, or at least take careful measure is something that would be nice.

Oh yes, I read the topic and was already saying yes. I think you can never have too much help or knowledge when doing/creating rituals! I would DEFINITLY join the class.

I think its a good idea plus it could get into making your own spells as well.

does this also deal with things celebrating the holidays within the wheel of the year like mabon or yule as well, like the offerings, the chants/prayers, the customs and colors and culture that go along?
I would be interested but I may not do actual spells but everything else woudl be neat.

I think it sounds interesting since I am not so good at creating my own rituals. I would be interested in hearing what all would be taught exactly.

Actually, teaching the Sabbats is something that I do in my Wicca class. I was thinking the Ritual Writing thing would be more workshop-like.
When I teach the Sabbats, it takes 16 weeks! However, I cannot say no to someone who really wants to learn. I have PM'd the owner of this group to see if there is an interest in my teaching, but have not yet heard from them. I wouldn't want to step on any toes.
Let's see what happens, and if they approve, then maybe we'll do it!
