What sort of books, research or otherwise, would you recommend for a cillivan writing a fictional, dark future story with a heavy military theme? I have one book on basic military hardware, but I'm looking for stuff that would include everyday life in the barracks, uniforms, slang, medals and so forth. Do they make a " Military for Dummies" ? :whatgives

Something I'm planning on getting soon for reference work is a series of books B&N puts out on the various branches of the military. Those would probably help you. Go to the nearest store and see if you can find them. You can also find some of the information like rank, etc., on the various military sites.

I can ask my husband that kind of information. He is in the Air Force and might know which books would be best for you to use. We could also answer some of your questions. I'll ask him tomorrow (he's currently in Texas for 4 months but we correspond via email and he calls when he can).
