This is the Final Assignment in the tarot course and is therefore the longest and most time consuming.

Due July 26th at NOON (MST). I am leaving the country for a week on the 27th, and most likely will not be online after Noon on the 26th. If your assignment is not handed in by the deadline (UNLESS you have spoken to me before hand and made arrangements), you WILL NOT graduate.

When this assignment is handed in, (assuming all other assignments are in, as well), you will be rewarded with your graduation banner (special banners for those with an A average).

The Assignment:

Points will be docked for those who do not read or follow instructions.

Report back to me:
a. who the reading was for
b. what spread you used

f. was the reading easy for you? What do you feel you need to work on?

You do not have to post the readings!

- OR -

2. Do 5 readings for people you know In Real Life (IRL). Use a different spread for each reading. Answer the same questions as above. You do not have to post the readings!

- OR -

3. Do 2 readings for people you know IRL, and 3 readings for MW members, not your group memebers! (or vice versa.... 3 IRL people and 2 MW people). Use different spreads for each person. Answer the same questions as above.

You do not have to post the readings!

Please be sure, that if you open yourself for requests in the Tarot forum, do it in the reading requests forum, not in the main forum.

Oooo, this one is exciting :) I can't wait!
I want to ask though (even though you already know about this) i am moving house very soon, i get the keys on the 15th, and move on the 16th, i am not sure when i will have the internet up and running again, so is it at all possible to get my grade before i move? I don't mean to be cheeky or anything, i would just hate to miss my grades for the final assignment.

Ok, i'll be editing this and adding more as i go along. All information i post, i have gotten permission to post before-hand.

1. Find 5 MW members to do readings for. Do not use your groups members! Use a different spread for each reading.

Reading 1.

A. Who the reading was for : Temptation
B. What spread you used : 5 card direction spread -
1.....2.....3
...4.....5....

1. Life direction as of current.
2. Current lessons
3. What you are heading towards
4. Long term goals/objective.
5. Assistance in getting there.

C. Method used for reading : PM
D. If a signifer or other method was used : astrological symbolism from cards.
E. What the querent thought of the reading : Temptation went through the cards after the reading, and she confirmed some of the things i said. She said it was a very good reading.
F. Was the reading easy for you? what do you feel you need to work on? : It's not very often that i get readings that are focused on one particular thing so heavily. In this case, the only cards that came up were wands and pentacles, and they all seemed to be very positive cards. They seem to point to one thing, so although it can seem obvious, i feel a little nervous that i may have got the wrong end of the stick.
Also, i think it would help me to work on my knowledge of the court cards - i've always found them more tricky to read.

The reading for Temptation -

Six of Pentacles - You seem to be currently focused on work and financial situations, you have been working hard lately in balancing out issues around your financies and how your work is going. I feel that you have been very committed, and due to this, you feel like you deserve to be noticed and deserved to be given credit. It looks as though, you have been having little niggling doubts though about where you are going, career wise, and wether there is something better for you. Taking a step back and having a look at all the pros and cons could help.
Queen of Wands - You have a lot of opportunity to broaden your knowledge, and actually take action in doing so. Taking a grasp on situations, instead of watching them go by. I feel things around you at the moment need your full attention, and you need to act on them to be able to gain knowledge and experience. This could be anything from travelling to work to family. Your advantage is that you are very mature in what you do, and you like to be confident that you will succeed. If you have been thinking about trying something new, i would say go for it!
Eight of Pentacles - Again, this card shows me hard work on your part, putting a lot of effort into home and work life. You seem to be very much more the intellectual type of person, and business minded, and this is a field that you feel most satisfied with when you succeed in something.
Don't over-work yourself though, remember to think about yourself too.
King of Pentacles - Here, it seems like you would like to have a great career and you crave stability, this could be inidicating something like your own business, and this is a goal you would like to aim towards. This seems to be your next step, and you seem very clever and knowing what steps to take in order to get to where you would like to be.
Being overly confident can sometimes have draw-backs, incase we are let down in some way, so keep a level head about your future. But do use your knowledge to the best of your ability.
Six of Wands - Support is what you need! To reach your goals, you will need a lot of support, and this will make it all worth while. Trying to depend on yourself can lead to disappointment, but accepting support will give you a bigger advantage and a much bigger gratifying feeling when you do things correctly.
This to me also signifies staying ahead of the game and giving yourself as much credit as you can, when going for your goals.

2. Spleen chakra - sexuality, emotions, survival of the species, nurturing.
3. Solar plexus chakra - Ego projection, how you use or express vital energies.
4. Heart chakra - Universal love, healing, compassion, understanding.
5. Throat chakra - Speech, self expression, communication.
6. Third-eye chakra - Visions, fantasies, dreams, psychic ability, visulation of thoughts.
7. Crown chakra - Cosmic connection, higher aspirations, desire for truth & knowledge.

C. Method used for reading : PM
D. If a signifer or other method was used : astrological symbolism from cards.
E. What the querent thought of the reading : I think she really liked this reading. She went through points and a lot of them were spot on. I am quite pleased with the feedback i got.
F. Was the reading easy for you? what do you feel you need to work on? : This reading seemed more easier for me, and i think it was due to the positions in the spread. The cards came across more clearer to read and fitted in quite well. I guess, it would benefit me to learn more ways in which to see the cards - i think i can do a good job at this, but there is always room for improvement.

The reading for MoonDust -

Seven of Wands - This card shows me that you can ground yourself quite well, you have an ability of being able to stand up for yourself and defeat obstacles. Sometimes this may come across as a weakness to you, it may seem like you attract problems, but it's your strong point. This is something you could take benefit from, you are able to work under pressure and stand firm in what you believe. You also come across as strong minded here, you don't let people persuade you into something you don't want to do.
Two of Wands - You often like to get away from things, and you like solitude. Your way of keeping sane is by taking time out for yourself, and yourself alone! Maybe you do already, or you would like to travel, this seems to be some sort of goal for you, and something you feel may complete you as a person, to see new things. Nurturing yourself is what you are good at, you don't seem to forget to look after yourself also.
Six of Pentacles - You use your energies in a balanced way, you are committed to the things you do. You can also work well in groups, and i feel this is how you get maximum results when working on a project, family matter etc, financial issue etc... Use this to your ability, as i feel people appreciate your input.
Ace of Swords - Coming out of your shell will help others. Aces are about new beginnings and a fresh start, and here, it shows a fresh start in social and activities. Maybe you have been hiding away in the past at some point, hiding your hidden talents for fear of humiliation - but now is the time to open up and let yourself be who you want to be, people will appreciate you so much more, and you can offer so much more to others.
Queen of Swords - Again, here shows me that you are strong minded and sometimes you can be stubborn, but you do this in order to get your point across. You like to express yourself as much as you can, which tells me that you are good with communication with others. I feel, sometimes you may come across as being too harsh, or speaking your mind too much, but this is simply the way you deal with communication and socialising. I feel sometimes you can try too hard, and so things you try and put across don't come across to others as clear and they may get the wrong end of the stick - try to take a calmer approach in some situations.
The Hermit - You are very good at being able to tune into your inner/higher self, and this is best done when you are alone and you can concentrate on things. I feel, you have been soul searching a lot recently, and this is to aid yourself. You have abilities to see things in a way that others can't, and this should be brought out more. Maybe this is the hidden ability you have been hiding away, and would benefit you if you opened up and let others see. Focus on your thoughts and feelings.
Seven of Swords - You do not like betrayal, this is like a pet peeve for you, people who betray and are unfaithful - and you could hold a grudge forever over someone who does this. You feel as though you are a genuine and honest person, and in reality, these traits can be hard to come by.
You are sensible in your actions though, and if anything upsets you, you know to walk away. Even if you feel anrgy or bitter against a person or situation, letting it go is the best thing to do. You will learn a lot from people in your life, and i feel you are good at recognising a good soul to a bad one. Steer clear of negative situations.

Reading 3.

A. Who the reading was for : 1111
B. What spread you used : Horseshoe spread -
1......................................7
......2.........................6......
............3.............5............
...................4....................

1. Past - Important events, issues or attitude that have given rise to current situations.
2. Present - The prevailing circumstances around the querent.
3. Hopes & Fears - The querents hopes, fears and expectations.
4. Obstacles - Current obstacles, problems and conflicts the querent must deal with.
5. Enviroment - Attitudes & actions of other people around the querent.
6. Future - Future events and fresh influences about to come into play.
7. Outcome - Eventual outcome of events shown by other cards.

C. Method used for reading : PM
D. If a signifer or other method was used : astrological symbolism from cards.
E. What the querent thought of the reading : 1111 could relate this reading to a particular situation. She did say, it was a lot for her to take in and she is still processing everything i had said - i also felt this about this reading, it seemed more complex than most readings i do. But, she seemed pleased and i think she just needs a little bit more time to put it all together.
F. Was the reading easy for you? what do you feel you need to work on? : The results of the position of the cards was very interesting to me in this reading. In positions 1 and 7 was Pentacles, in positions 2 and 6 were Cups, in positions 3 and 5 were major arcana and position 4 was a court card. I felt the court card to be a signifer that crept into the reading, yet i still tried to read for it in the position it was in. Again, i got two court cards in this spread and so i found those a little tricky to read, but i tryed to really go with my intuition.

The reading for 1111 -

Three of Pentacles - This card is in a position of an important event or situation that has given rise to current situations. Now this card is showing me success, being in the limelight and being at a point of satisfaction within your life and with your self. I feel this is most likely to have something to do with finances/work related. This was important to you, as it still plays a part in your life today, positive or negative. You seem to have had a very positive attitude and outlook on everything around you at one point, yet i feel that not everything has been rosey as you expected, and this is why it may still play a part in your life - as a view you can see, and that you wish you was back there or would like to be there again, satisfied with yourself and proud of yourself.
Two of Cups - I feel you have just come together with a partner recently, this could be that you've met someone new, or an existing relationship has started to blossom, however, you have niggling doubts about this. It is showing me to be some sort of union between two opposites, and although you are going along with this, you are shown to have doubts. In order to have a balanced relationship, this needs to be worked on. If you have doubts, you need to focus on what exactly it is you have doubts about and act on it.
The High Priestess - You seem to be quite good with gut feelings and instincts and you can ususally predict how things will turn out, and i think lately this is what has been worrying you. Although this is a good thing, to you, it is also bad, especially when you have a gut feeling that something will go against you. Keeping a clear mind and perspective on things though, will keep things in order - you may have a tendency to let thoughts and feelings go hay-wire, and this needs to be kept under control. Expecting too much from yourself may be a draw-back at this point in your life, let yourself do as much as you can, but don't push yourself to try and cover up flaws.
Queen of Wands - Again, i feel this is strongly connected with The High Priestess, you have a lot of knowledge and you are strong minded, but you can expect too much from yourself at times, setting goals that you feel you MUST reach. This isn't so. Letting yourself be the person you are, is enough, and this card is showing me that your true self is a lot greater than the person you feel you have to be.
There may be a lot going on around you at the moment, but you have never given up, this is because you are actually quite good at dealing with problems, and putting things into perspective.
The Star - I feel here, that you have been feeling like people around you are taking too much from you, leaving you drained. And you feel you constantly have to re-load your energy levels in order to keep up. You think you should be the giver ALL the time. Yet, demanding a bit of respect and teaching a lesson about give and take will work wonders.
You are a kind and sensitive person, and your down fall is letting people take too much from you, as you just want to be kind and giving. Give yourself a bit of pampering for a change, and let other people do things for you.
Eight of Cups - Here, i feel as though you will come to a turning point at some time in your life. I feel, you have already started to think like this. You need something different, something where you can focus on yourself and take care of your own feelings and wishes. And most importantly to re-gain your energy. This could be anything from changing friends to moving house... but don't put pressure on yourself to change something, it will come to you naturally. Take some time out to recognise the issues surrounding you, so you can see more clearly how to over-come these issues, and to help yourself start fresh.
King of Pentacles - I think, things have taken a strain on you recently. You were satisifed with the way things were, and then things have just seemed to go down hill for you, re-gaining your composure will help you a lot. From the cards i seen that a lot of energy has been drawn from you, you feel you are not meeting your own standards yet others keep taking from you also.
Here in the King of Pentacles, it shows a powerful man who is in control and can handle difficult situations, usually associated with work or finances, in this case, i feel it is linked with hard work you are putting yourself through.
Court cards can either indicate yourself or someone you know or even someone about to enter your life. Let this strong sense come into your life, as i feel it will be a great guide and be able to point you in the right direction, that is if you let it.

Reading 4

A. Who the reading was for : Garden of Eden
B. What spread you used : Spread of the Elements -
.....N.....
W..Q...E
.....S.....

1. Card Q: Querent
2. East: Intellectual or Mental Life
3. South: Sensual and/or Instinctual Life
4. West: Emotional Life
5. North: Intuitive and/or Spiritual Life

C. Method used for reading : PM
D. If a signifer or other method was used : astrological symbolism from cards.
E. What the querent thought of the reading : The querent went through each card, and could relate to each one and my interpretation. She said it was spot-on, and i am pleased with the results.
F. Was the reading easy for you? what do you feel you need to work on? : I think these cards fit together pretty well. It involved elements of spirituality and the querent's school/work life - and i think this is what has been the most predominent factors in the querent's life from the cards.
I found i was able to read through the cards smoothly, and they fit together nicely.

The reading for Garden of Eden -

Knight of Wands - You are currently going through a stage in your life of finding yourself, you are soul searching and finding out the real you. This is a part of growing up and becoming an adult, as we begin to understand who we really are. Your need for exploration will take you further in your life - i feel, you already have certain plans for your future that you would love to persue, but take one thing at a time, and go at a pace that is comfortable for you.
Making a go of things around about now, may be a good move for you. Remember, things don't just come to us, we have to go to them, and the need to get up and go is what you want at this point in your life. Don't hesitate when you have an ideal opporunity to do something.
The Chariot - You are currently learning and exploring a great deal, maybe you are at the end of your schooling and are looking more into career prospects and what is available for you. Taking the leash and being in control will help you tremendously. Don't expect others to work out things for you, as you have a very interesting mind which i feel can be put to very good use.
You are already a smart person, and aiming higher will only improve things.
Eight of Pentacles - You try and put 100% effort into almost everything you do, and sometimes this effort isn't appreciated enough. Pushing yourself too far though may tire you out, only do what you feel comfortable with and don't think you need to reach someones standards.
Maybe someone is pushing you to do more than you can handle, or pushing you into something you don't want to go into. Think about the Chariot card here - you need to be the one in control of your own life, and you know what is best for you.
Queen of Wands - From this card here, i am getting the feeling that you are the smart one out of the household, people will usually come to you for advice on sums or spelling, for example. You can take advantage of this - and make sure you don't let this ability slip away, keep it up by learning new things and expanding your knowledge.
You can be quite confident at times, and confident in your ability. You may feel like you still have a long way to go, but i feel you've had a pretty good start!
Five of Cups - Your spiritual life is something you are exploring more of lately. This is what may have been confusing you in the past. It feels as though you have been trying to get away from something - you had been disappointed after thinking the path you was on was honest and genuine. And since then, you have felt like you've need to get away from that and find something you are more comfortable with - which may be what the Knight of Wands is signifying the most here.

Reading 5.

A. Who the reading was for : MoonDust's partner
B. What spread you used : One i created myself - it's a past, present and future spread but with two extra cards -
.....1......2.....
...3....4.....5..

1. Querent
2. Situations surrounding the querent
3. Past influences
4. Present influences
5. Future influences

C. Method used for reading : PM
D. If a signifer or other method was used : N/A
E. What the querent thought of the reading : In MoonDust's words exactly : "I'm convinced you have a gift! Great job on the reading. You got him down pat. As I read it to him I kept hearing "yeah" "that's true" etc etc."
F. Was the reading easy for you? what do you feel you need to work on? : This is the first time that i've got the Emperor and the Empress in the same reading, and they showed up next to each other. What i also found interesting, is the Lovers showed up on the next line inbetween the Emperor and the Empress. Obviously, i was excited, but a little apprehensive, incase i didn't put them all together correctly - but what ever the feedback, it will help me learn from it. The other two cards seemed to be more focused on working around things - the best way to get the best results from situations.
I think i'm happy with the reading, i'm nervous in seeing how accurate it was. I hope i did this lay-out justice!

The reading for MoonDust's partner -

The Emperor - You are in an authoritive position right now, and this is the attitude that suits you most. You like to be the ruler, and take charge, and take care of your family. I feel lately, you have been more protective than usual, this may be due to a certain situation that makes you feel you need to take care of others around you more so.
I feel you never like to be out of work, you love to be able to provide and you come across as 'old-fashioned', preferring the man to work, and the woman to stay at home with the family.
The Empress - Now, this card represents situations surrounding you, and it has come up next to The Emperor. This is a powerful combination and to me it shows a close bond being formed between you and your partner, and possibly resulting in something more i.e pregnancy, birth, marriage, proposal, own home together etc...
Your partner is like a variant to you, you both work well together, and feel a very close bond with each other - you may believe that you are both soul mates.
This relationship is blossoming in one way or the other, make the most of it, and try to keep the relationship with that close bond.
Princess of Pentacles - You have had to have a reality check in the recent past, due to not being so careful with money and material possessions, maybe they didn't mean much to you before - but with the future plans coming up, you've had to change your act, becoming more responsible. Like i say, i feel you have always felt the need to work - but maybe in the past, you wasn't so careful with your earnings. Focusing on future plans though has made you re-evaluate your actions.
The Lovers - Again, here is the close bond you share with your partner, and it has come up inbetween the Emperor and the Empress. This is present situations - so the big change that i feel coming up, may not be visable yet, but may show itself anytime now.
I get the feeling here, that you've been through something together and you've been able to stay strong and come out of the situation stronger, i believe this is what has made you feel that the relationship is meant to be.
You are also coming across here as the most dominant one again, the one to do the most important things, but your partner is also a strong character, so be sure to let her have her opinions and independance still.
Four of Swords - Team work is what comes to my mind looking at this card. This could signify that future events may need some thorough thought and planning, and most importantly, co-operation! Planning out what needs to be done and then acting on it, will bring the best out in situations. Instead of trying to over-rule things and jumping straight into something.
This may feel odd to you, having to take a step down and letting others have their say, but it'll be worthwhile.
I feel this cards predominant message is "work together and co-operate".

Quick questions:
1) Are we allowed to use self-designed spreads?
2) Are we allowed to find guinea pigs on other forums than Mystic Wicks?

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I was out of town until last night.

Okay, to answer your questions..... yes, you can use self designed spreads. And... yes, you can use people from other forums. The idea is to get experience with long distance reading, so I suppose it doesn't matter where you get the people from. :)

First Reading of 5 for Class
a. Reading for Nabooru
b. Made up a spread:
1. General 2. How she feels for him. 3. How he feels for her. 4. Their future together.
c. Sent via PM
d. No signifier or other method.
e. Please see her coments and the reading below, I quoted directly from her original PM, no editing, with her permission of course. :)
f. Not a bad reading overall. Nabooru did make a few helpful comments at the end about the Majors and the Pentacles that I had not really noticed / paid attention to, so I think that comment will help me to remember to focus on ALL the cards in the future as a whole, instead of just individually.

Used Revelations Tarot.

First of all, thank you! And you can post it in the CoT.

I've tried to cover this as thoroughly as I can... I'm still slightly frustrated by something that happened today involving him. Not getting into that right now, though, my best friend's trying to help me with that, I think.

General right now: 8 of Pentacles

My first thought with this is that this guy is someone you have met either in a school or workplace setting, or that someone you know from work or school introduced you. This is the beginning of your acquaintance so everything is just a bit unsure right now. You are in the process of learning about each other. Everything is still being tested and felt out to see if there is really an interest in pursuing a relationship.
This is semi-on. I did meet him at a school program, the band. We've known each other for about a year, but we did meet around this time last year. Everything's always seemed sort of unsure with me and him, though. You know, him in regards to me and me in regards to him. I, er, am not sure that things are still being 'tested and felt' out for a relationship, though, as I overheard him today saying something about liking another girl. So, the best thing we've got going right now is friendship, I guess.

How she feels about him: Fool reversed

Well, this is sort of funny, actually. I see that this is the type of guy that you can totally lose your head over. He seems to be so much your type that you’ve gone head over heels already. It’s a scary feeling though and you’re probably not trusting it because of experiences in the past. Caution is always a good thing. Try to get your feet back under you and don’t make any hasty decisions.
Yeah, he's definitely my type. I've completely lost it over this guy as of late and I've liked him since I met him at the end of last July. And, no, I've never trusted this feeling at all because of the past and things that have happened since then. In regards to being cautious, I had been because I realized that I didn't really trust the feeling. Unfortunately, I think caution knocked me off my feet and has put me in a bit of stagnation, which I guess could be part of the whole Fool reversed thing, nah?

How he feels about her: 4 of Pentacles

I get the feeling from this card that he is 1. career / school / goal oriented. 2. possessive. If a relationship forms he will be even more possessive than he is already. I get the feeling that he is probably already jealous of your time spent with others and when you are with him, even if you’re out with other people and not really on a date, he is very monopolizing of you and wants to be your center of attention. Sometimes this can be a nice thing, to be wanted so completely, but you have to judge how serious of a thing that is. Is it suffocating, or is it ok?
I really don't know how goal-oriented he is, but I'm not really sure that he's possessive. He had wanted to be the center of my attention at one point, but I'm not really sure that possessive is the way to describe it. Maybe slightly, at best, but I've never seen him to be the possessive type. Of course, this is just through my eyes and I could be totally wrong about that.

Their future together: Moon reversed

A little murky here. A few things pop out at me. This is the card of the addictive personality. This reinforces my thoughts from the Fool card. This guy’s type is right up your usual alley, but perhaps your usual alley is the problem. Are you often attracted to guys that turn out to be not the right kind of guy? You may also want to watch for signs of addiction in him, it may not be drugs or alcohol, but we all have our different addictions. Pay close attention to your instincts. The Moon is also the card of the psychic, so any messages you receive will be important ones when deciding about this relationship.
I'm often attracted to guys I can't have a relationship with because they just don't see me that way or they like someone else, not because they're not the right kind of guy. But, I still end up wrong in the end about them, anyway. Now, addiction, that makes perfect sense to me if he were the way you described for the 4 of Pentacles.

Though, if you take messages literally and apply it to the past, a message from a friend about this other girl liking him makes perfect sense... and now she's the one he claims to like. I knew something like this would happen and my best friend thought I was way off by thinking that.

Overall, I think this was a very interseting and helpful reading, though I'm still not sure about the 4 of Pentacles and I haven't met him recently. And both majors reversed, wow. I think this may be pointing to the fact that this matter has been rather stagnant. (Though, er, that's just what I get from it.) The other two are Pentacles, too, which is interesting because I've had Pentacles come up more and more lately in readings I've done for myself, while a few months ago, it was very unlikely to see any Pentacle card at all in a reading.

Again, thank you. This was actually a rather good way to de-stress.

f. I feel much better about this reading. I think I rushed the first one a bit because I was doing it at work. :) This one went fairly smoothly and instead of focusing on the individual cards, I took Nabooru's gentle reminder and focused on the reading as a whole.

Wow, I am really blown away at how you hit everything on the head. You were dead on, about how I feel, and the problems that I have physically. I actually went to go have my thyroid checked out and did a full battery blood test about a month ago. They said that my health was above average. And that the thyroid was fine. But I have a hard time believeing that myself.

I found that your reading was accurate, you deffinatly did a wonderful job of your interpretation of the cards. * I really don't like when people use the meaning's out of the book, instead of trying to fit In the actual meaning of the card to what's relavent in the persn's life* And You did that! You told me in your own words and your feeling's about the cards, instead of what a book said.

I would enjoy having more readings from you!! You are really good *huggles*

Hi Lisa,
I have to say, you really blew me away with the accuracy of this reading. I am genuinely a happy person for the most part, but since my hubby has been in Iraq, my insecurities run away with me and I am constantly worrying if he still loves me..lol..we have a great marriage, but we do have some rocky times, especially before I got put on meds (for depression)...he has stuck by me thru everything, as I have for him, but the distance and worry for where he is right now does tend to get to me every once in awhile. You touched on everything going on right now. It was an amazing reading, and I thank for putting alot in perspective for me. Good luck with the class (although you don't need it) :loveduv:

f. I feel that while this was not a "good" reading, in that it seemed to be not on the positive side, that it was an accurate reading, which is more important. This is one where I had very little to go on (which is the way I like it). The original question was "At the end of it all, will Alan and I still be together?" That was it.

We discussed it a bit afterwards as well and she said she doesn't mind me posting the entire reading here, so that is what I have done. I thought it was interesting and wanted to share it. :)

General now: 3 of Swords
Obstacle 1: Temperance Rx
Obstacle 2: Hierophant Rx
Advice 1: 10 of Cups
Advice 2: 7 Swords Rx
Future together: Judgement Rx

Right now things seem to be a bit on the rocky side. You might be experiencing a feeling of loss. I get the sense that you are both feeling the loss and experiencing it together. This is a tough time for both of you. Things are not as they should be, they are out of balance. The focus in your relationship is not where it needs to be. There is perhaps too much focus on the self and not enough on the whole. The solution to this is to redirect your attention to the whole “family” or relationship so that the individual hurts seem lessened. After all, what are they compared to the big picture?

The give and take in your relationship is not an equal sharing. Again, this is making things out of balance and hard to deal with. There is a sense that someone is getting more than they are giving. They don’t seem to be particularly bothered by that fact. Someone is taking advantage of having the upper hand. Work needs to be done to even things out and bring your relationship more in line with the traditional idea that it is a partnership and not a monopoly.

I think the Judgement card suggests that this will be a difficult task. It may be time to allow the transformation of this relationship and to let it go. Growth only happens with change, death and rebirth. It might be time to take a break and grow separately to see if you can then grow together. Take a step back and look at it from a more objective view, again, Big Picture. Ask yourself, “Where will I be in 5 years?” The answer might give you some much needed perspective.

Oh this is not an unhappy reading. :) Maybe if I give you a bit more information you may understand where I am coming from.
My partner Alan is in jail. Will be for quite a while. This is why it seems to be so unequal. There is not much that he can do and so yeah, it pretty much seems all one sided at the moment. But I have promised to stand by him. and I will. I love him too much not to.
The loss we are feeling is the loss of 'what could be' in one mind we feel we should not go on together due to circumstances and in another we both feel such a connection together that to part would be wrong.

This is a great reading :) Very to the point and quite precise. Especially since I didn't give you much information other than the basic question.
You should never apologise if a reading is not a 'happy' one. People should be prepared to take what is given, whether it is a happy reading or all gloom and doom :)
All in all I think you did well. From one card reader to another, you did well with the information offered.

e. Prizm felt that the reading totally baffled her. It seems as though it listed everything she had already been doing, not everything she still needed to do. It just summed up everything instead of offering advice.
f. I'm not sure why the cards chose to tell me this, except that maybe she's already doing all she can? LOL I promised I'd do a 2nd reading (hopefully tomorrow morning) to help clarify things a bit. Sometimes this happens to my readings and I'm not sure why. I will be sure to post the results of the follow up reading when we both have a chance to look it over. :)

Report back to me:
a. who the reading was for
b. what spread you used
c. the method used for the reading (IM, PM, email, phone or in person)
d. if a signifier or other method (astrology, numerology, etc.) was used to help the reading (you do not have to tell me the specifics).
e. what the querrant thought of the reading (did they enjoy it? was it accurate? was it helpful?)
f. was the reading easy for you? What do you feel you need to work on?

Reading 1:
a) The reading was for Romana (http://heroescommunity.com/member.php3?action=viewprofile&UserName=Romana).

b) Spread used was "Relationship Transformation Spread" by James Ricklef, described in Tarot: Get the Whole Story: Use, Create, and Interpret Tarot Spreads (I made a run to a used bookstore and picked up some new Tarot books. :reading: ). The Relationship Transformation seemed most appropriate based on the querant's problem. Usually a love spread, in this case we applied it to family. It's a five card spread in the shape of a cross. The first card is the bottom of the cross, "What are your problematic patterns in this relationship?" The second is to the left, "What are your fears in it?" The third is the center, "How do you block love in it?" The fourth is to the right, "What do you need to let go of in order to make this relationship work?" The fifth is the top of the cross, "How can you heal this relationship?" The book provides illustration and two sample readings for fictional characters.

c) The method used was the Heroes Community instant messaging system. Not recommended. Every message comes up in a new window, there's no log, and you can't see your messages after you send them (and I kept forgetting to copy/paste my replies before hitting "send"). But other IM systems weren't practical for her. So it goes.

d) Nope, no signifier or anything used. I did use the Art Nouveau deck, and she was happy with that.

e) The querant did seem to like the reading, and she found quite a bit of accuracy in it. She seemed to relate to most of the stuff I said and added some interpretations of her own. For at least one, it happened to be another view of the card which I hadn't thought of but which is traditional (she's not familiar with Tarot), so that was promising. The two final cards, both Major Arcana, seemed to have the most effect.

f) The reading was of moderate difficulty for me. The irritating IM format was a hurdle. However, the querant was friendly and open-minded, definately engaged with the reading. Because I've been struggling with reversals, particularly with the Art Nouveau deck, I decided to try omitting them for this reading. For the "fear" and "obstacles" positions, however, the reading turned up cards with positive, harmonious meanings. That threw me quite a bit, although I managed to figure out some meaning. The querant corrected my floundering. ;) The results left me wondering about reversals until the next reading reassured me that the Tarot can give negative commentary even without using flipped cards. :D I am still in the air about using reversals in general. I decided not to use them inthe next reading, either, though.

Reading 2:
a) This reading was for Lord_Woock (http://heroescommunity.com/member.php3?action=viewprofile&UserName=Lord_Woock).

b) The querant did not have a particular question, so I did a general life reading using the Celtic Cross. I thought I was following Robin Wood's varient, but when I re-checked the LWB mid-reading, it turned out to be different. My pattern was Question, Cross, Recent Past (left), Just Ahead )right), Far Past (bottom), Likely Outcome (top); Self, Enviroment/Others, Hope/Fears, Outcome. It was kinda redundant, but the spread was the least of the problems in this reading.

c) Done via MSN instant messaging service. Much easier than pop-up style IMs. :)

d) No signifier.

e) The querant was confused. He was floundering to relate the cards interpretations to his life. I was seeing patterns, but they didn't seem to connect to the querant. The overall message of the reading was struggle, conflict, and problems. The end was pretty optimistic, but it was a sludge to get there. My impression from the querant was a hope that the end was accurate but that the middle would prove off-base. The past was basically inaccurate.

f) Blech. I don't know what went wrong with this reading. This was the second reading in a row, but it was relatively uninterrupted (unlike the first). As mentioned, I wasn't using reversals. There were patterns showing up, but I was having trouble communicating them to the querant, and they weren't particularly easy to accept. From the first card, I wondered if I shouldn't just redo the spread (or is that cheating?). My intuition was off. It was basically an unpleasant reading. Lesson learned immediately: you can't bully intuition into cooperation. Lessons learned upon reflection: pending. ;) My communication skills need work, too.

Reading 3:
a) The reading was for a_rebirthing_flight (http://heroescommunity.com/member.php3?action=viewprofile&UserName=a_rebirthing_flight).

b) The querant had a "Should I...?" question, so I used another of James Ricklef's spreads. This one is the Decision spread. It's somewhat small, only three cards in a line. However, it looked appropriate for the question. The first card is the "Pros" of the proposition, the middle cards is "Other considerations," and the last card is "Cons."

c) Method used was e-mail. While this is nice for its lack of distractions and pressure, it lacks the feedback which can help keep the reading on-track. Fortunately, there wasn't as much opportunity for such a short reading to go wrong. :p And, with this question, it was more advice-geared than predictive or retroactive info.

d) Again, no signifier used. I keep thinking about it, particularly for these long distance readings, but I don't know the people well enough to pick one for them, and they're not familiar enough with Tarot to pick one for themselves.

e) Querant's response was brief but seemed pleased. He seemed to think the advice tipped a certain way. That wasn't my intention -- I was going for more of a "here is more information" approach -- but if he thought the con-card outweighed the pro...well, that's what these things are for. :D

f) This one was somewhat easier, possibly because there were fewer cards, possibly because I didn't feel overly strained to match information to anything. The suits of the pro and con cards were surprisingly appropriate; interpreting the individual cards were more of a struggle. The pro card was not "happy" and the con card was. Based on the cards themselves, I'm not surprised that the querant came to the conclusion he did. I just hope it's the right one for him. :ggrief:

The next two readings will be face-to-face, I think.

Reading 4:
a) This reading was for my brother.

b) I used yet another spread out of my Ricklef book. This time it was a 5-card timeline called the "Extended Temporal" spread. The querant did not have a particular question but wanted a reading that would "say something about the future." Because of my own doubts about the predictive ability of Tarot, I didn't want anything too involved but wanted something to satisfy the querant. So I did a general life reading using this spread. Its positions are "Far Past," "Recent Past," "Present," "Immediate Future," and "Probable Outcome." They're just arranged in a line, nothing fancy.

c) Conducted in person at the dining room table. It's much easier to pick up the querant's energies and reactions in person, not to mention I know this individual better than internet people. :p Also, the querant could look at the cards himself. Cons included pressure, books everywhere making inexpertice more obvious, and a misbehaving dog who interrupted proceedings a few times.

d) No signifier again. The querant selected the deck ("the one with the red Death," by which he meant Robin Wood :)). This is the first reading done for this class with a deck other than Art Nouveau. Querant let me shuffle the cards.

e) While the querant seemed to enjoy the reading, he did not find its two past references very accurate. His input for interpretations was somewhat limited -- he noted that the Robin Wood Hierophant resembles the Pope -- and I don't think he had much in mind going in, so there wasn't anything in particular to look for. He didn't find the Present card very applicable, either. He was more interested in the two future cards, but I had to point out that the cards are a progression. If he doesn't recognize the past, what is the future growing out of?

f) Another hardish reading. I have laid an accurate reading for this particular querant before. However, it didn't work this time, and I wonder if the first time was a fluke. Once again, my intuition felt blocked. The good part is, I know it's not a problem with the Art Nouveau deck. Robin Wood is my first deck, and if I can't see anything in that one, I can't see anything at all. :twitch: The bad part is that reading in general is hard and switching decks will not fix it. Is it possible that querants can block energy? Some seem more cooperative than others. Or is it possible that my doubts can damage reading results so nothing makes sense?

Oh, and I did use reversals for this reading. My Robin Wood deck was set up for it anyway. Obviously, it didn't do much to improve accuracy, but I don't think it damaged accuracy either. I briefly considered reading all cards as right-side up, but the querant objected. The Devil had come up reversed, and he liked it better upside down. :wtf: :crylaugh:

Reading 5:
a) This reading was for my other brother.

b) I used a horoscope spread -- 12 cards in a circle and 1 in the middle. The querant had no particular question, so a general reading seemed most appropriate, and this one is pretty common. My resource was Tarot: Plain and Simple by Anthony Louis (?), although I'd also compiled some information on the astrological "houses" from the Internet. I have absolutely no knowledge of astrology outside of the random stuff one picks up in other occult studies. This proved somewhat problematic -- "house" meanings are considerably more vague than the standard Tarot position meaning.

c) The reading was done in person on the dining room table. The dog managed to leave us alone this time.

d) Obviously, there was an astrology connection, although I didn't use any personal astrological data on the querant. There was also a signifier of sorts -- a single card in the middle to tie the reading together. This was flipped off the deck randomly, just like all the other cards. It turned out to be a theme card, which helped. The querant had no preference as to deck, so I used Robin Wood again. Querant was eating pizza at the time, so I did not have him shuffle my cards. :p

e) I've practiced on this querant before with unimpressive results. This time, some cards really hit home. Most were semi-accurate, and there were two duds. Overall, he considered it better than the other readings. It did drag on a bit long, though. He was fidgety near the end.

f) As mentioned, I know nothing about astrology houses and had to collect research to manage this reading. One of the dud cards was in the Eighth House, which my book described as "sex, death, taxes." Both of the houses dealing with spirituality -- eighth and twelfth -- caused confusion. Both cards in question were reversed, and one of them was a court card. On the other hand, the relationship and career positions were easy to read. One card basically stated the obvious, and two others were uncannily accurate. It was a mixed bag, overall. The theme card tied it together nicely (what I understood, anyway.) With regard to the spirituality-themed cards: Either I lack enough knowledge to interpret Eighth and Twelfth house, or I'm too shy in relating difficult messages, especially with the most personal part of someone's life. Or both. I don't want to offend the querant. I suspect that a few more readings using this spread will clear up what the exact obstacle is; that will help me work it out. :)

The Assignment:
Points will be docked for those who do not read or follow instructions.

1. Find 5 MW members to do readings for. Do not use your groups members! Use a different spread for each reading.

Reading 1:
a) For Evendusk
b) I used a 5 card spread that I typically call the life direction spread but I altered it a bit because Evendusk requested a reading that focused on career direction. The spread looked basically like this:
1----------2-----------3
------4----------5

1) Your current career direction
2) The lesson you're learning
3) What you're moving toward
4) Your long-term objective
5) What will help you attain your objective

c) I used PM’s to get the readings to the people they were about.
d) I am not really comfortable with using a signifier so I chose not to use one.
e) Even dusk felt the reading was fairly negative (I must admit a lot of the cards I drew gave off a negative vibe) but overall quite helpful and accurate.
f) I enjoy giving readings and I like this spread a lot for general readings. It wasn’t very difficult and I felt I was very detailed and through. I think one thing I should work on (I found myself doing this in most of the readings) is to refrain from being “fluffy”. I tend to not want to be the bearer of bad news so I try to say what I feel in an optimistic way.

Reading 2:
a) For Whisper Arro
b) I used a Horseshoe spread that I read this way:
Card 1. The Past.
Card 2. The Immediate Present.
Card 3. The Immediate Future.
Card 4. Something occupying your mind.
Card 5. The attitudes of others.
Card 6. An Obstacle.
Card 7. The Final Outcome.
c) PM
d) No signifier
e) Whisper Arro was very complementary about my reading. He said he really enjoyed it and that he learned a lot of things he wasn’t aware of about himself before.
f) I was very proud of this reading in particular. I feel it may be one of my best I’ve ever done. I think the only thing to work on in this reading was to have a bit more confidence… I think I was a bit afraid that it wouldn’t be right so I may have over thought each card… and paid too much attention the smallest details and not enough attention to the bigger picture.

Reading 3:
a) For Kaliel
b) I used a 12 card spread in which each card symbolized a month.
c) PM
d) No signifier
e) Kaliel gave me some of the most insightful feedback and helped me learn quite a bit. I can’t thank her enough for all the pointers she gave me. She felt my reading was bit scattered though and that it wasn’t the best of spreads to use in a general reading.
f) I agree completely with Kaliel. I was most nervous about this reading because I’ve been taking Kaliel Psychic Abilities class and know she is most gifted when it comes to any form of mediumship. I had never used a spread like this one and I felt it was completely scattered and all over the map. The good things about it was that I learned a lot from Kaliel’s feedback.

Reading 4:
a) For PatriciaJ
b) I used a modified version of the Celtic cross for Love and Romance. I read it like this:
Signifier Card. You,
Card 1. forces working on You
Card 2. distant past
Card 3. recent past
Card 4. near future
Card 5. distant future
Card 6. You (how you’re effected by the last 5 cards)
Card 7. Influences
Card 8. hopes and fears
Card 9. outcome.
c) PM
d) I used a signifier card for this reading. It was one of the Major Arcana cards.
e) Patriciaj said she really enjoyed the reading and that it helped her see a lot of things she didn’t know about herself.
f) I was really rushed for time on this reading. I felt that I did well and that it was accurate. However I felt it would have been better to spend more time on each card and be more detailed.

Reading 5:
a) For Flar’s Freyja
b) I used a spread that I call the Should I/Shouldn’t I spread:

1 - 2 - 3 ......... 4 - 5 - 6
----7---- .......... ----8----
--------------9-------------------

1-3 What happens if I do
4-6 What happens if I don't
7 Outcome if I do
8 Outcome if I don't
9 What I need to know to make the choice
c) PM
d) No signifier
e) Flar’s Freyja reading was my most accurate I think. I was given permission to share Flar’s Freyja’s comments and so I would like to do so…

Hi, and thanks so much! First, know that I am an old witch and do not criticize readings and interpretations unless you're the 800 number "Psychic Friends...." To me, the purpose of a reading is for insight and even readings that don't seem to make sense to the querent 99% of the time are accurate and the things come to pass from weeks to years later. The reader is just the messenger.

Cards 1-3: Flar's "best friend" (#1) who mooched off us for 18 months - he's a chiropractor and made no move to get his own place until I put my foot down - thought I was moving out and he'd get to mooch off Flar's other very close friend (#2), who owns the house. He was over here nearly every day before Flar was cold trying to find out how quick I'd be moving out - and got an earful from Flar's mom. Instead, Friend #2 offered the house to me at a very reasnable offer and I will be paying rent. He (#2) also told me that #1 is "taking it very hard and has become very religious." I believe he is the jealous one and may be spreading rumours because of my faith, I can't be sure, but he doesn't know enough about it to say much. If I was any good as a witch I may have healed Flar, no? This is what happens if I stay in this house. I also have some other issues with this man and there is a darkness about him even though he's "religious."

Cards 4-6: Possibly, life is a little easier financially if I move back to my old house, but it becomes more complicated because it's too small and my son has been living on his own there for 2 years now. He has agreed to pay more rent but is sooooo bad with money. He wouldn't stab me in the back, he'd just be irresponsible, and I am worried about that. He's probably the one riding the dolphin - his jet-ski!

The last 3 cards make sense - and are pointing to either choice being okay, but I'm confused as to which is which. Even though I'll be doling out more for expenses if I stay here - it's a long distance and extra for bills, although #2 has made a very reasonable offer.....this house has the room and energy I need to make something out of my creative work.

I've made a tentative decision to stay - the donation from MW made that possible - and the decision is not irreversible. I can back out if it doesn't work. I do have to separate from this house symbolzing Flar's energy and our life together, but that will only come through the grieving process. I also have a feeling of unfinished business with #1 and need to keep my Taurean temper in check - and do it in a way that I don't "lose my cool." But there are things that need to be said so that I can have peace.

I was hoping for more positive news! but as above, you seem to be on the money, especially about #1.

You done good! Feel free to post any of this for your class.

Blessings,
Flar's Freyja

e) I think this reading was very easy to do and just fell into place on it’s own. Each card seemed to make so much sense to me immediately. I was glad that it was so accurate and very grateful for Flar’s wonderful comments. This was one of my favorite readings. I think one thing I could have improved upon to make it better would be to take more time on it… spend more time and energy on it. I think had I spent maybe 10 more minutes on it than I did, it could’ve been by far my best reading ever.

WHEW!!! That took me awhile!!!!!!! Thanks for this class Amythest. I've learned so much!

a) Reading was for mexicomagic
b) A career spread:
1) What is going on in your job right now
2) What you need to focus on
3) Hidden factors
4) Advice
5) Near future
c) PM
d) No other method
e) She thought it was pretty accurate & made sense to her. She felt that the reading had given her something to think about, and that maybe change was an option after all. She was very pleased!
f) Yer I felt this particular reading was quite easy. Sometimes this happens & I just run with it. I enjoyed doing it & am even more happy that it made sense for her.

Reading 2
a) Reading was for a friend from another Holistic forum – Frances
b) Horseshoe spread:
1) Present Position
2) Present expectations
3) What is unexpected
4) Immediate future
5) Long term future
c) E-mail
d) Symbolism
e) She was pleased with the outcome & felt I was particularly accurate with both the present position in her life & her expectations. The cards also gave her an alternative view to something, which she has also taken on board.
f) The more I know somebody the more apprehensive I become about reading for them, as I ask myself, am I really using my intuition or is it because I know about their situation. In this case I did know about her situation, but wasn’t sure of her true personality as, although we chat a lot, we’ve never met. So I was especially glad that I was right in this case, and hopefully the reading will have given her some hope for the future!

Reading 3
a) My brother
b) My own spread for a career as I’d already done one & couldn’t find another one that suited the situation.
Card 1 Where am I at Present within my career?
Card 2 Strengths
Card 3 Weaknesses
Card 4 What I need to focus on?
Card 5 Where I need to go from here?
c) In person
d) Symbolism
e) A bit unsure. Felt that the cards related to him, in some respects but was unsure of the whole reading in general. Gave him something to think about though.
f) This was a difficult reading, firstly because I made the spread up, which I have never done before. It was also late (nearly midnight) and so was quite tired. What threw me the most was the card 2 of swords, which appeared in the strengths position. To me this is a card of decisions/conflict. The need perhaps to confront something. To open up and see what’s really happening in order to move forward….not sure how that could be interpreted as a strength, unless one could say he was good at confrontation, but this can hardly be classed as a good thing!! Over all, not too sure about this one. Has made me think maybe I need more time to create & practice my own spreads on myself, before I attempt on others! The fact that I have to do them all different is definitely helping me learn, as I do tend to stick to the ones I know.

Reading 4
a) My friend Elaine
b) A spread called The Key, taken from the Osho Zen tarot book.

2)The Yin card, your female (passive) aspect
3)The yang card, your male (active)aspect

6)Insight into the heart
7)Insight into the being
8)Consciousness (understanding)

c) In person
d) Symbolism
e) She felt it was a wonderful reading. She was very pleased & felt that the position & the cards represented her exactly. She even went into interpreting the cards herself & shes never read tarot before. (Could be a tarot reader in the making lol) She kinda knew the lesson which has come from this reading anyway, but doing it has reassured her of her feelings, and what she needs to do.
f) Was abit pressurized for some reason. I think I was afraid of letting my friend down & so put pressure on myself (Am still new at reading in person) but after the reading I mentioned this & she said that it was all in my own perception & that she was perfectly happy with anything I did. I tend to forget that I'm still learning. The cards seem to complement each other & made sense, so it was a relatively easy reading, though didn't seem to enjoy it as much as others, due to putting pressure on myself. Will have to learn abit more confidence for the next time. I think time can also be an issue sometimes, as I seem to take a long time with readings (An hour for this one) and we ran out of time at the end (School run), so might also be better next time to do it when I know I have more time, which probably added to the pressure factor!!

Reading 5
a) Iris from MW
b) An outlook spread I found from Aeclectic website.
------6
---4----5
1----2----3

Card 1 - How the querent feels going into the event?
Card 2 - How the querent feels during the event?
Card 3 - How the querent feels after the event?
Card 4 - Higher Power (advice)
Card 5 - Obstacles to look out for
Card 6 - Outcome?

c) PM
d) Symbolism
e) Iris was very happy with the reading. She was particularly happy with the first card (The Star) as this is the card she uses to represent herself in readings. She now feels more positive about her event & will let me know how things turn out when she gets back!
f) I liked this spread. Don't know if it was just the position of the cards, but it came easy this time. It all made sense & was a very positive reading, which am sure will put the querent's mind at rest. As the spread is mainly focused on the future, feedback might not be as relevant right now!

Reading 1

I did this reading for my friend Dani and it was done over AIM.

I used the Celtic Cross Spread from my LWB

1.The Question
2.The Influence
3.The Background/Past
4.Recent Past
5.The Present
6.Near Future
7.Attitude towards subject
8.Other opinions
9.Detached View
10.Outcome

I didn’t use a signifier or astrology or anything like that

The reading was fairly easy but it took a while because I’m still not familiar with all the meanings yet and I had to do some looking up. I had a little trouble with the meanings of some of the cards as I wasn’t sure how to apply them to the reading. Also I didn’t know the question she was asking so I was pretty much working on intuition but I suppose that kept me bias free. I think I need to work on grasping the meaning straight off better but I know that this will come with practice.

Reading:

1. The moon - illusion and decieving yourself. emotional and mental turmoil. may have some trials coming up but they can be gotten through.

2. The star - light at the end of the tunnel, hope and peace of mind. so.... a good influence. someone who loves you and gives you hope.

3. Four of Earth (pentacles) - holding on to what you've got and not sharing. being tight and possesive.

4. Four of water (cups) - over indulgence and stagnation. the need for courage.

5. Tower - sudden change and up-heavel. chao's and disruption.

6. Ace of fire (wands) - new energy and passion. the beginning of a new project and renewed energy.

7. Five of Water (cups) - regect and mulling over the past. disappointment in someone, a relationship or yourself.

8. Five of Earth (pentacles) - worry about finances and hard times ahead. predicts bad health, bad luck, and loss of money.

9. Two of Earth (pentacles) - keeping balance and juggling your life.

10. Five of Earth (pentacles) - property. gain in money, inheritance and good luck.

After much struggle I still haven't got proper feedback but form little bits and pieces she's said I gather that she thought the reading was quite accurate especially card 7 which she said

this one I found sooooo accurate - you wudn't believe the amount of regrets I have - especially the one with spankie - with whom my question was about actually)
but some of it she found confusing because i didn't really have a question to apply the cards to.

Reading 2

This reading was for: Saleheim

The reading was done over PM.

I used the ‘In the mood for love’ spread which I found on Aeclectic tarot but I did alter it slightly.

Card one: Openness to love in the present. Are you ready for love?
Card two: Hopes and desires, what you are truly looking for.
Card three: Your attitude.
Card four: What is holding you back, outside influences, obstacles
Card five: Your true potential for love

The following cards refer to the future:

Card six: What to look for emotionally in someone (personality traits)
Card seven: What to look for physically in someone (what they'll look like)
Card eight: Outcome, answer

....1...............2
3..........5............4
...........................
............9...........
.....6...............7...
.............8.............

No signifier or otherwise was used.

Here is their response to the reading:

Your reading was spot on. It really is how I feel it myself. Some background info. I always thought of myself as ugly and unlovable. I literally thought that love was not meant for me and tried to shut it out. Recently I met someone over the internet, don't know if love is possible (or if it's love I'm feeling or just friendship) but gradually these suppressed feelings came back to life again. Now I am in a stage that love is something I am still very careful about but I no longer think of myself as unlovable. I am however very careful and try to keep things in control but somehow it really does feel like changes are happening and I have no other choice but go along with them. I try to think of the Ace of Cups as an image when I feel that way, life flows and so should I. It helps to keep such an image. The way I look at the spread is that I should dare more and try to loosen up a little. That is very much the stage I'm in now.

Your reading is a very positive one and it feels very right for me. As I said, you are spot on.

And here is the reading:

Card One: 3 of Earth (Pentacles, Coins) - You have been putting a lot of effort into things when it comes to love. Maybe you've been trying to get someone's attention or to get someone interested in you. And your hard work is finally going to pay off. I think this shows that you are ready for love or at least a relationship with someone.

Card Two: The Devil reversed - You are in control your desires but sometimes it's not good to be too restrained all the time. It's ok to let go and give in to temptation and be a little wild sometimes.

Card Three: 3 of Air (Swords) - This card tells of pain and heartbreak, things that were thought to be true have turned out completely false. You may have been hurt before and it has now made you wary of getting into another relationship for fear of getting hurt again. It also indicates that now is the time for things to come out into the open, no more wondering and worrying.

Card Four: 8 of Fire (Wands) - Really, nothing is holding you back. You aren’t letting things or people getting in the way of doing what you want. Things are happening fast and nothing is going to slow you down.

Card Five: Father of Air (King of Swords) - The potential for love is there but sometimes you keep your distance and this isn’t always a good thing. The possibilities are endless and you need to unlock the potential that you do have for love. I’m not sure if this will mean anything to you but a little affirmation for this card that was in my little white book was this: ‘I will become one with the object of my curiosity’.

Card Six: Fate (Wheel of Fortune) - This card shows a stroke of luck, something good is coming your way. Maybe it’s someone who you suddenly ‘click’ with. Maybe it’s someone who you really like for their personality. It also signifies change for the better, so maybe this person is someone completely new who you’ve never met before and is different from everyone else you already know. A breath of fresh air, as the saying goes.

Card Seven: 7 of Air (Swords) - This seems to indicate to me someone seemingly unobtainable or someone mysterious. Someone who you aren’t sure of at first but over time things become clearer.

Card Eight: Father of Fire (King of Wands) - This tells me to get what you want you have to be assertive. You have to go out and find someone instead of sitting waiting for someone to find you. That first step may be the beginning of something special. Either that or the person you do meet is a born leader who doesn’t shy from responsibility, but beware as they can get jealous and controlling.

In some ways this reading was harder because I really had to think about what the cards could mean but in other ways it was much easier because the meanings came almost straight away. You can see that in the amount I’ve written for each card.

Reading 3

This reading was for i_am_serenity16

It was done over PM.

No signifier or other method to help me.

The spread I chose is the 'The Incredible, Expandable Love Spread'. It was designed by Rhiannon on Aeclectic tarot and it sounded perfect for Serenity. How it works is that you lay down five cards in a row for each love interest, so in her case two rows. So row one corresponds to guy no. 1 and row two to guy no. 2. In each row the five cards stand for this:

(Reading from left to Right)

Card #1 = General Situation between you and your object of desire.
Card #2 = How he/she feels about you.
Card #3 = How you feel about him/her.
Card #4 = Obstacles to a relationship with this person.
Card #5 = Outcome/Advice (answer to "Is this person for me?")

And here is the reading:

Row one (guy one)

Card one: 9 of Water(cups) - The general situation between you two is very good, you get on well and you don't seem to be having any problems. Things are going well and the relationship seems complete.

Card two: 10 of Earth (pentacles) - He feels that if something did happen between you it would last and be strong, or he would like to have a long, lasting relationship with you.

Card three: 10 of Fire (wands) - You feel a lot for him but things are spiralling out of control. You are trying to control your feelings but it is costing you a lot of energy.

Card four: Judgment - You may be judging yourself to harshly based on your past mistakes. You need to know that these are behind you and a chance at something new is possible. The past is the past and you need to accept it and forgive yourself before you can move on.

Card five: Ace of Water (cups) - Things point to the possibility of new love. You get a little twinge every time you look at him and he might just feel the same way. Things look positive and it looks like something could happen.

Row two (guy two)

Card one: 5 of Air (swords) - Things don't look too good between you. You may be having lots of arguments, things can be a little unpredictable and you have a lot of clashes of opinions.

Card two: Death - He feels that you are different and a change from all the people he knows. He feels that a relationship with you would be different from ones he has had before.

Card three: Creator(magician) - You like this guy, he's intelligent but you think he's a bit of a charmer. He has a way with words and you aren't sure if you like that but you do like him.

Card four: 4 of Fire (wands) - Things are pretty much stable and solid between you and not much can really rock the boat but be careful it doesn't be too stable for long otherwise things may get stagnant. A little change is good sometimes.

Card five: 3 of Fire (wands) - This hints that things could progress between you, it may grow into something more. You have been putting effort into making things happen and it could just pay off.

Response:

WOW!!! That was so accurate it was scary!!!!!!! Guy 1 is my b/f and guy 2 is a very old friend. My relationship with guy one is exactly as you described, it's very real, long lasting and we really care about each other. The other guy I've known since we were 8 and it's been so difficult between us because we are VERY different. He's better looking than my b/f and very tempting (he's so good at just looking into my eyes and saying something and I'd believe it {he could tell me the sky was pink and I'd believe him}. I had a crush on guy 2 for like 4 years and really always wanted a relationship with him. He wasn't interested until just recently but I have a b/f and I felt like he was trying to get me to choose between the two guys.

This reading wasn't that difficult but I think I need to look deeper into the meanings of the cards and not worry too much about whether it's accurate or not and just write what my intuition is telling me to.

Reading 4

This reading was for my friend Jaz.

It was done over AIM

No signifiers etc were used to help with the reading.

I used a simple 5 card spread.

1.Past self
2.Recent past self
3.Present self
4.Near future self
5.Future self

Reading:

1. Son of Fire (knight of wands) - You were popular, a leader and liked being the centre of attention, but you could be a bit bossy sometimes. You could be a bit wild as well.

2. 7 of Air (swords) - This is the thief card. You were sneaky and more away from the centre of attention.

3. The Moon - This is a time of emotional and mental trial, being secretive and pulling the wool over people’s eyes.

4. Mother of Earth(Queen of coins) - You'll become tasteful and practical and down- to-earth. You’ll like being outdoors more and will like beautiful things.

5. 6 of water (cups) - You’ll be a more balanced person and you’ll reunite with someone from your past.

Response:

I was pleased with my reading it was very accurate but it involved no pool tables and gorgeous men which vexed me greatly.

She didn’t seem to like her future selves and said she was going to prove me wrong, lol!

I didn’t have a lot of time to do this reading as Jaz had packing to do for her holiday so it was very rushed but it turned out ok and I think my meanings were short and to the point. If I had more time I thin I could have done a much better job of it, I would have probably chosen a different spread as well.

Reading 5

This reading was for Aconite adn it was done over PM.

I used the Horseshoe Spread

1 The Past: Important events, issues or attitudes that have given rise to the current situation
2 The Present: The prevailing circumstances around the
questioner
3 Hopes and Fears: The questioner's hopes, fears and expectations about the question or situation
4 Obstacles: Current obstacles, problems and conflicts that the questioner must deal with
5 Environment: The attitudes and actions of other people around the questioner
6 The Future: Future events and fresh influences about to come into play
7 The Outcome: The eventual outcome of events shown by the other cards

No signifiers were used.

And these are the cards are pulled:

1. 2 of Water (cups) - You two get on very well and there is a connection between you. You know each other very well and you care for her a lot.

2. 9 of Earth (pentacles) - At the moment things are going well for you, you have retreated from the world but in a good way. You are spending time to look after yourself which is a good thing.

3. 8 of Air (swords) - You're afraid of speaking up about the situation you fear that if you do people won't be happy about it, so you’d rather keep quiet. The longer you keep your mouth shut the worse the situation will get, you need to say what you really feel.

4: Death - Change is about to come and this change may put a strain on relationships. You need to work hard to sort through ay problems you may encounter.

5: 10 of Air (swords) - The environment around you is quite bad and things are going to get worse before they can get better, but you will get through this rough patch stronger than you were before.

6: The Empress - In the future in time things will grow and new ideas and projects will form. You will nurture and care for each other and be strong women.

7: 5 of Water (cups) -There will be low points as well as high but try not to dwell too much on the bad things. This can blind you to all the good things there are. If you remember that what's done is done and concentrate on what good is happening in the here and now things will be alright.

This reading wasn't too bad, in this one I felt that I was a little more familiar with the meanings and I didn't have to look up the meanings for a couple of the cards! I am quite proud of that. Although I still have trouble with the interpretation it is getting better.

Phew, all done! That took a while to do the readings and write it all up. Much longer than I expected!

Hey everyone..... This is just a reminder that your final is due in just under 22 hours (by 12 noon MST tomorrow).

If you haven't gotten your assignment in by then, or informed me that you'll be late with it, then you will not graduate.

There's still a lot of people who haven't gotten this in yet, and I'm a little concerned.....

2. Do 5 readings for people you know In Real Life (IRL). Use a different spread for each reading. Answer the same questions as above. You do not have to post the readings!

I enjoyed this assignment. I chose to do my readings in person since I have given many readings in Pm on Mystic Wicks and very few in person. I also managed to do my first telephone reading for this assignment...which I was happy about!

First Reading

A. Travis

B. The Happy Birthday Spread

Card 7: Sun Sign Card
Card 6: The Next Step
Card 5: Birthday Wish
Card 4: Polarity Card
Card 3: Challenges
Card 2: Strengths
Card 1: Ruling Planet Card

C. In Person

D. Astrology

E. He liked the reading and said that he found some things that he needed to work on. He got some insight as to why he looked at some things a certain way and how he could use that information to work on positive changes.

F. This reading was fairly easy. Because three of the cards are determined by the Zodiac sign..it is a good starting point for the Querrant. It was not a stressful..perhaps because it was easy to see themselves in those three cards. I was able to keep a flow going...there was a couple times when I needed to look a little closer at the card and its position to make sure I was giving an appropriate response.

Second Reading

A. Lucas

B. Mystic Pyramid Spread

1. Past
2. Present
3. Near Future
4.Whats really on your mind
5.How others react
6. Obstacles or challenges
7.Likely outcome

C. In Person

D. Suit Associations were used in this reading simply because of the fact that this reading had a significant number of the same suit turn up in the reading.

E. He said he liked the reading and that many of the cards reflected the current attitude he had..He was also able to see where past reactions had lead him to where he was now.

F. I did not have any significant problems with this reading. I was happy to pick up on the suit associations and that I believed helped with the reading by adding another dimension to the reading...in the past I think I would have focused on the cards individually and where there position was...but, With all that I have learned with this course..I believe it has allowed me to expand upon my readings and look beyond the initial meaning and placement of the cards and that made for a much richer reading for the Querrant.

Third Reading

A. Michael

B. The Alchemical Spread

1. The Self
2. Desires
3. Dreams
4. Pursuits. What we actively try to achieve
5. Attatchments Pursuits that hold us back from achieving our dreams.
6. Qualities
7. Sorrows
8. Self-image
9. Souls urge
10. Earth
11. Air
12. Fire
13. Water

C. In Person

D. This spread included numerology and Elemental Associations

E. He liked the reading and was a very active participant in the reading. He said he could relate to the cards that came up and was eager to expound on the meanings as it meant to him.

F. This reading was easy and very enjoyable. I had not used this spread before and so I was worried that I may have problems with interperting the cards in a way that would make sense. But, The Querrant took such an active and excited attitude that the reading seemed to come alive for him...He was able to see ways that it related to his life that I felt like I was just along for the ride!

Reading four

A. Pat

B. The Keltic Cross

1. The querent
2. influences
3. message from higher self
4. Foundation of question
5. The near future
6. The far future
7. The querents fears
8. The querents enviornment
9. Hopes
10. The Final outcome

C. In Person

D. numerology

E. He was happy with the reading..He admitted that he was surprised by how accurate it was.

F. This reading was a bit difficult because it was filled with lots of deep emotions. It was dark in the sense that this person had gone through some very tough times and I was very aware of the pain that was brought to the service for him. This reading gave me a chance to experience what it is like to give a reading that is not all about happiness..and a chance to really help the querrant work through some tough issues and feel better about them and himself.

Fifth Reading

A. Teresa

B. The Horse Shoe spread

1.Past Conditions
2.Present situation
3.Future outlook
4.Best approach to the situation
5.attitudes of others
6.challenges
7. The final outcome

C. Telephone

D. Suit associations, Signifier

E. She was happy with the reading. She said that she could not believe how it captured all the emotions she was feeling over a recent situation.

F. This reading was very spontaneous and so it was a chance to put together a reading off the cuff and without alot of preparation. It was also a chance to be intuitive...This is an area that I would like to be able to blend a bit better with the actual meanings of the cards. I find I am usually one or the other in a reading.

I would like to mention something that happened in a reading that was not used in the assignment but it is a reaction that I have never come across. I gave a reading for My Sister and Brother-inlaw before a family vacation. They both had separate readings but, both wanted to know how the weeks leading up to the vacation were going to go...Well some really odd things kept coming up in the cards and I found it very difficult because none of these things seemed to relate to either one of them...it was the two worst readings I have ever given and I found nothing really redeeming to say. Well, for the two weeks leading up to their vacation ..my Sister called almost every other day with the most bizzare things that were occuring...and needless to say that the weeks leading up to their vacation were the most stressful they had ever had. It left myself and my sister very uneasy and she asked me if the reading had somehow caused these things to happen. Now, I don't believe this to be true..But, I have never experienced anything like this in a reading before.

I was just wondering if I could get some feedback on this...perhaps..

Blessings,

Niamh

NiamhHi Niamh! I just thought I'd give you my $0.02 on this. Isn't it funny how people assume that the cards are CAUSING the problem rather than REFLECTING or REVEALING it? :bigblue: Sometimes weird things happen. I think your cards just predicted a state of confusion, they certainly didn't cause it. Looking back on the reading and the situation, do the cards make any more sense now?

Well, for the two weeks leading up to their vacation ..my Sister called almost every other day with the most bizzare things that were occuring...and needless to say that the weeks leading up to their vacation were the most stressful they had ever had. It left myself and my sister very uneasy and she asked me if the reading had somehow caused these things to happen. Now, I don't believe this to be true..But, I have never experienced anything like this in a reading before.

I was just wondering if I could get some feedback on this...perhaps..

I agee exactly with what Lisa said.... people shift the blame so they're not responsible for their own lives. It's one of the reasons I'm careful not to allow people to use tarot as a crutch. There's no way the cards caused the events to happen, but they were a predictor....that's what tarot is all about. :) I've personally never had anyone say that the tarot caused something to happen, though...so that's an interesting attitude to take.

Oh, and you did a great job. :) I'm sending you a PM right now.

Yikes! Guinea Pig #5 has just informed me that he won't be available until tomorrow evening. :( So it appears that my assignment will be completed late. Sorry about the last-minute notice...

That's no problem Khaelo.... I'll pm you your graduation banner when I get back from vacation. :)

Hi Niamh!

Lisa :)

Thanks Lisa,

Yes...the cards make complete sense now...everything came about...I think thats why she got so freaked...Its just the first time someone has ever accused the cards making something happen to me...I'm probably more sensitive too because it was my sister...but I have noticed the subject of Tarot is a bit Taboo with her now...

Blessings,

Niamh

Thanks Amethyst,

I just think that the reading was so close and the odds of all these things happening within 2 weeks of their vacation was the weird thing...I do agree with you that she was just looking to place the blame somewhere..I felt a bit guilty for awhile until my hubby told me to snap out of it..lol

Thanks for all your time and effort that you placed in this course. I appreciate the fact that you shared your knowledge.

Have a wonderful vacation!

Blessings,

Niamh

...and on a totally random note, I found a way to use signifiers without losing the card from the deck -- using the court cards from another deck! The Robin Wood court has a lot of personality, so they're a perfect compliment to Universal Waite readings. :nyah: It's been working quite well.
