My friend is pagan and is actually teaching me more about the religion. But recently, she has had a little problem from the past come back. There is a ghost, male, always cloaked, who sits the the foot of her bed about..every other night. This has been going on for aboout two months. The same ghost had visited her for a long time when she was younger then disapeared but recently returned.
In the last week or so, my friend has gone to some of her other, adult friends, who know a lot about paganism and the paranormal. This last time she went, the woman tired to read into what had been happening and this is what was pointed out: 1. the ghost means no harm (though there was one incedent where it scratched my freind) 2. He is interested in watching her grow up 3. He is upset about something and that is what my freind need to find out 4. the word "Alanon" came up. We have been trying to find out what this word means. We considered many things but online research only brings up a group named Alanon ( a alcohol rehibilitation group) which we dont think is right. The only other thing we could come up with was spliting the word into two parts. "ALA" and "Non" Through some reaserch we know that Ala is a goddess of life and death. She is a creator of earth and gives life and brings death. The "NON" part we thought meant stop, like "no" or "none". Meaning that she is to either stop life or death of something. We are not sure though. We thought the whole word might be a name of someone or something. If anyone knows or has advice on where to look for this name, It would be much appreciated. |

Okay this may not be what you want to hear, but it is my opinion nonethless so take it for what its worth.
1. Just because one is pagan doesn't mean they know anything about the paranormal. Studying the paranormal teaches one about the paranormal, not belonging to any religion which isn't abrahamic in origin. I've come across many pagans who know absolutely nothing about the paranormal and many Christians who know a great deal about it. The paranormal is not religion specific. 2. What methods did your friend and her other friends use to figure out all this information about said entity? What makes you certain that they're not pulling your chain for laughs or that they actually know what they're talking about? 3. If your friend or any of her friends an alcholic? Al-Anon is Alcholics Anonymous. Just saying.

That is good advise and while I do not know her friend personally, I know she is reliable. I believe she is a psychic and know she has helped my freind many times. For a while during high school, my freind lived with a teacher who was pagan, practiced magic, and knew her way around the paranormal. This person who told us this was a freind of that teacher freind and they had been practicing for many years. So Im pritty sure the reliability isn't much of an issue. She is very experianced and had given advise and help to my freind many times.
And yes, we did consider the possibility. The thing is, the person who was an alcoholic is still alive and we know that for a fact. So, we arnt sure. I'm just wondering if anyone knows any other persons or things that relate to the name, so we have more to search on. But thanks for the suggestion. |

My eyes. They bleed.
It's more likely than not, if your friend is experiencing paranormal, it has nothing to do with paganism. The entity is, likely, not referring to a goddess, much less pagan itself. It could be, but I'd lean towards no. Your friend simply stating "Something sits at my bed," isn't very convincing. I think the issue should be examined more closely. Also, do some research and familiarize yourself with things...family history, etc. I also want to stress what Sacred said: Quote:

I couldn't agree more...there are pagans whose personal path leads them into matters paranormal but the paranormal is NOT a part of paganism. Rather than seeking out someone who is pagan, one should seek out a clairvoyant or clairaudient or some such experienced person who consistently makes contact with the spirit realm as it pertains to THIS situation. That person will be able to find out DIRECTLY who this spirit is and what their intention may be. And by all means, do not assume that this is an ill-intended spirit/entity because if it were, they would not have continued along so peacably all these years!

Well one could try to contact it through invocation or meditation.
And if you really want it gone I'd say Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram. |

A spirit can refer to the living. In other words, it speaking of "alanon", which is obviously Al-Anon, could easily be speaking of a living person, not *itself*. When it comes to "the paranormal" or anything similar, you don't just take others' words for the matter. Unless we're talking about your "BFF" of ten years telling you that suddenly, this weird thing is happening... you can't be absolutely certain you're not getting taken for a ride. And just as everyone else has said... "paranormal" things do not necessarily have to have anything whatsoever to do with religious things. Quote:
So pagans don't pray?

I am being totally serious when I point out that there is only one possible meaningful anagram for "alanon", and that is "no anal".
It's up to you to discover whether that is significant. (Actually I just ran a different program that takes names into account, and "No Lana" and "No Alan" also came up . Also, if you or she knows "a Nolan", that might be something too.)

Hmm, perhaps you could spend the night(s) with her and see if you can see anything. Maybe set up a video camera. Try sleeping in different places to see if he shows up. This "cloaked figure" could be a shadow or shape in the dark playing tricks on her sleepy mind. Perhaps the two of you could cleanse the room/house ritually to try to get this ghoul to go away.
Random side note: Alanon, it makes me vaguely think of "All alone".

One simple suggestion, assuming like others have said, that your friend isn't pulling your leg.
Try simply talking to it? Perhaps using a good tape recorder. The entity might not be aware you can see it, or it might not be aware at all, for that matter. Some "ghosts" might not be more then strong physic imprints. In any case, unless you they are afraid of it for some reason, just talk to it. Might work....might not *shrug*, what have they got to lose?
