Dreamed of Which Pantheon

I was part of the Old Norse people. We wore red, gray and white. Boisterous men were riding short stocky horses and racing around barrels in a competition. People were all wound up in it, screaming and being bawdy. Some bystanders got trampled and no one really cared. They were really into that boring 'riding the horse like a crazed animal game.' I mean over and over it went on.

I looked over at the Greeks. They were dressed in fine white tunics. They were gentle and floaty beings talking of art and music. They looked clean. I knew I wasn't born into that family but I felt more like them.

I have been reading up on the Norse Gods because of Anglo-Saxon roots but I can not relate to toes being stuck in skies and people being born out of Giant's armpits. I tried. But the Greek Pantheon and the Celtic Pantheon seem open to me. Like they want me to get to know them and I am drawn to them as well. Then I drew a rune for the energies betweeen me and each pantheon I've been studying; Norse, Celtic, Greek and Roman. Needless to say Celtic and Greek came up joy, success...and Norse and Roman came up bad decision; bad judjement.

So you guys were right. My ancestry (which were probably a mix of Celtic and Norse to say the least) does not necessarily denote what spiritual path, (Pantheon) I need to work with now.

Thanks you all. Keeping it real.

I'm Irish and German. I follow an African path. Genetics just don't matter when on a spiritual path. You have to go the way you're called. Glad you're finding what you need.

something to bear in mind - your dream sounds like the stereotypical images of the people you mention. the Norse were just as artisitc and creative as you saw the greeks and the greeks could be as equally bawdy and bloodthirsty as you saw the norse to be.

i suggest you look deeper ito the cultures youve mentioned and explore them in more depth than the simple basic intros that seem to have ingrained into your mind.

i think that will give you a better feel for the cultures and a better indication that a single rune drawn from a bag - perhaps you could draw 2 runes? you might still get 'bad decision' but with the added info that' bad decision as you dont undertsnad these people yet'

good luck

I think you need to keep in mind also that very few of us can trace our lineage back very far, and by very far I am speaking in terms of at least 30+ generations. Who knows what heritage we could still be carrying with us and we may in fact have cultural ties to the pantheons we have such an intimate connection to without realizing it, and it is realized through our intimate connection.

Regardless of the fact, I do not think genetics and faith necessarily be interwoven. We may have other signs that point to a cultural link of some sort. For example, as far as I know I have mostly irish, scottish, english and welsh ancestry. However, my birth name (first name only) is greek and I am a hellenist. In some manner or another the greek gods have always been apart of my life. They were the first I learned of, were fascinated by, and whether I knew it or not they've always been just right around the corner with varying degrees of closeness over the years. It's not that they weren't always there I believe, just that I am not omnipotent as they and cannot always see the obvious. My senses are simply not that keen, as no one's is I would imagine. The point is, I think if you look into the matter enough you'll find interesting ways that link you to the pantheon beyond your intimate connection. My name is a rather unique one and more than a coincidence I believe given the story of how I received it.

Such intimate connections may also speak to past lives. Perhaps my most influencial past lives revolved around the greek pantheon or within Greece and the surrounding areas. They may prove to be a constant force throughout many of my lives because my spirit has forged such a deep rooted bond with them over the course of my many lives and therefore it could be said that I have greek heritage, just not in this life genetically speaking.

Some things may be a long shot and unable to ever be proven, but the overall point is to pay close attention as you never know what you may find, whether theory or fact and not to let it worry you too much because in this life or any you cannot trace a genetic link back to the land in which your pantheon thrived.
