FEBRUARY 29 – MARCH 6

There is definitely a shift in cosmic energies this week that is palpable. Next week on Tuesday March 8th, there is a New Moon Total Solar Eclipse in Pisces. Conventional wisdom says we should start to pay attention to the signs at least a week before. So…start paying attention!
On Saturday this week, Mercury, the planet of communication is creative and imaginative, although somewhat adrift, as it starts a journey through the mystical, emotional, and intuitive ocean of Pisces during the next 2 ½ weeks. Get used to it. We are heading into a month of significant Piscean energy where knowing how to navigate emotional terrain is important. Knowing how to find wisdom in our experiences and answers from the intuitive side of our nature will entertain and keep us afloat.
Speaking of intuition. I always do a card spread for myself on New Year’s Day for the New Year. This year I assembled multiple decks of Tarot and Oracle cards with great expectation. I pulled at least 9 cards from different decks but knew the reading was not complete. However, I felt strongly the card I needed was not among my collection of decks, so I completed the reading, knowing there was one more card to come.
Not too long afterwards in a conversation with my friend and colleague, Anita Ahuja, she mentioned a deck of oracle cards she loves; and I knew my missing card was in her deck! Anita pulled a card for me and it was perfect. Of course I had to have the deck for myself (Kuan Yin Oracle by Alana Fairchild), but only recently was able to get my hands on it.
All this is leading up to this. I chose a card from the deck this week for a message for this article and was delighted to see the synchronicity with the astrological energy. The gist is this, when we look at things from a metaphysical or spiritual perspective we realize all things can serve us. Every relationship and event can serve beautifully as our earth curriculum and lead us to more clarity, empathy, love, and peace.
There is some dicey energy this week; isn’t there always! LOL! But when we can look at our shadow or see ourselves from a different perspective we can approach it all with a sense of humor and acceptance. What I was reminded of in the Kuan Yin card for this week is the usefulness of looking at what we admire and what we dislike in others. Chances are we admire traits we believe we are not capable of, and likewise dislike in others what we certainly don’t see in ourselves. Guess what? These qualities and traits are most probably very much within us, but buried so deeply we are unaware of them.
Our lives are lightened and strengthened when we can see ourselves more clearly. Our relationships with others are gifts; not only for the obvious blessings, but for the way they reflect our shadows and hidden talents and strengths. If we are willing to look at others and consider the possibility they reflect us, we can reclaim these ‘missing’ pieces of ourselves and find a way to integrate them into our consciousness with love and acceptance. Well it’s worth a shot.
Until next week, let go and wear loose clothes.

MONDAY
FEBRUARY 29
MOON in SCORPIO / SAGITTARIUS
Moon Void of Course 11:55 am (PST) – 3:56 pm
February 29th could be seen as a bonus day, however, since we don’t have eight days this week, I’m not sure we can fully experience the idea of an extra day! In fact as we close in on the New Moon Total Solar Eclipse a week from tomorrow (March 8th) our week starts off on a rather fuzzy note. The cosmos is drawing us into the spell of Pisces, and we are better off listening to our intuition rather than trying to make things make sense.
The emotional energy is a bit intense today with the Moon in Scorpio hooking up with Mars. Even though Venus is moving towards an alignment with Saturn – connecting our desires with our strategies – my gut says there could be a few shake ups or surprises today. Schedules may not go as planned The Moon’s entry into optimistic Sagittarius in late afternoon reminds us to stay hopeful and open to adventure. Keep things simple and allow for flexibility and all will turn out well.
Daily Muse: In character, in manner, in style, in all things, the supreme excellence is simplicity. (Henry Wadsworth Longfellow)

TUESDAY
MARCH 1
MOON in SAGITTARIUS
Emotional energy may feel a bit bogged down today as the Moon in fiery and zealous Sagittarius is at odds with both the Sun in mystical Pisces and with Pisces’ planetary ruler Neptune. Needless to say, Fire (Sagittarius) and Water (Pisces) have a hard time finding common ground without forever changing one another. In fact that may be a key concept to keep in mind today. No matter how fervently we believe something, we need to allow space for those who don’t share our opinions or passions. And, is it really our job to change their minds? Probably not!
We don’t have to look far to realize this kind of intolerance is the root of many of our personal, community, and global problems. We can take this as a welcome opportunity to look at where we can become fanatics. What ideas or issues do we insist on being right about, even at the expense of our relationships? Challenge yourself today to find more patience and humility by allowing others to be right, or wrong (LOL!) without having to judge or insist on your version of truth.
Daily Muse: There is perhaps no phenomenon which contains so much destructive feeling as moral indignation, which permits envy or hate to be acted out under the guise of virtue. (Erich Fromm)

WEDNESDAY
MARCH 2
MOON in SAGITTARIUS

Moon Void of Course 6:55 pm (PST) – 2:01 am Thursday morning
We are feeling fired up and a bit contrary today. The Moon in enthusiastic Sagittarius is resisting all efforts by the planets in forgiving Pisces and grounded and humble Virgo, to cool its jets. We might find it difficult to cooperate with others if we believe they are not on the same page with us. We can move beyond petty differences if we raise our sights and consider the bigger context. If are part of a team – business or personal – that seems to be getting sidetracked today, remember the overall goal and this will help keep things on target.
A welcome connection between Venus and Uranus brings our attention to unexpected pleasures or solutions. Something may seem unorthodox, but prove to be exactly the answer we are seeking or the refreshment to our spirit. Step outside your comfort zone to experience the unfamiliar; in most cases you will be very glad you did!
Daily Muse: A person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs. It’s jolted by every pebble on the road. (Henry Ward Beecher)

THURSDAY
MARCH 3
MOON in SAGITTARIUS/CAPRICORN

Moon enters Capricorn 2:01 am (PST)
Calling all zombies – snap out of it! Venus (our values), Jupiter (expansion) and Uranus (awakening) are aligning in a unique, dynamic, and yes, maybe uncomfortable way, over the next day or two. When Venus and Jupiter disagree we can make some poor and unfortunate choices. Like children refusing limits, we interpret the signals for more structure as a personal challenge. Instead of taking a step back and heeding the warning, we go full throttle ahead. Sometimes we win, but mostly we don’t. There really is such a thing as diminishing returns and the unfortunate consequences of excess. There is nothing to be afraid of here, simply a call to wake up and smell the coffee especially when it comes to finances.
The Moon in wary and conservative Capricorn seems to agree, advising caution and level-headed thinking. We work hard for our money and should work equally hard to invest, protect, and spend it wisely. There is no reason to over-react. This is just a wakeup call to be conscious of behaviors that ultimately limit our enjoyment and satisfaction. Innovative Uranus can suggest new ways of looking at all aspects of our lives. Be creative!
Daily Muse: If money is your hope for independence, then you will never have it. The only real security that a man can have in this world is a reserve of knowledge, experience, and ability. (Henry Ford)

FRIDAY
MARCH 4
MOON in CAPRICORN

It’s nose to the grindstone today with the Moon in hard-working Capricorn aligning with both the Sun and Pluto. It’s easy to identify our priorities and go after them. It’s probably best to stick with the tried and true rather than attempting to do something in a new or novel way. The Moon’s square with Uranus could mean a shortcut turns into a detour that leads away from our goal.
Late tonight Mercury the messenger tangles with Mars. Although this can be a bright, intellectual, and chatty energy, our thoughts, words, and communications can easily turn caustic and hurtful. If you want to write a scathing review about a product that disappointed, this is definitely the time! Mars energizes all of our communications but can easily throw us off our game. If you are concerned about having an emotional blow-up with a loved one, be forewarned and plan accordingly. This can be a time to effectively clear the air, but it can also be energy hard to handle in the heat of a moment.
Daily Muse: Tact is the knack of making a point without making an enemy. (Isaac Newton)

SATURDAY
MARCH 5
MOON in CAPRICORN/AQUARIUS
Moon Void of Course 8:05 am (PST) – 8:22 am
Mercury enters Pisces 2:24 am (PST)
Mars enters Sagittarius 6:30 pm (PST)

It’s a day of shifting energies with two planets changing signs. Mercury, the planet of communication is imaginative, although somewhat adrift, as it swims through the mystical, emotional, and intuitive ocean of Pisces during the next 2 ½ weeks. Get used to it. We are heading into a month of significant Piscean energy where knowing how to navigate emotional terrain is important. Knowing how to find wisdom in our experiences and answers from the intuitive side of our nature will entertain and keep us afloat.
Mars leaves deep-feeling and mysterious Scorpio today for the fire and enthusiasm of Sagittarius. However it’s a short trip. I can’t help feeling Mars is more than aware of the impending retrograde pattern on its agenda for April 17th. Instead of charging ahead, we are moving forward with a look back over our shoulder.
The cosmic shifts are not finished until late tonight when the Sun fights with Saturn. This conflict between the emotional wisdom of Pisces (Sun) and the adventurous spirit of Sagittarius (Saturn) can put an unusual spin on the difference between imagination and reality. Both Pisces and Sagittarius are adaptable and idealistic. However, Pisces turns inward for inspiration whereas Sagittarius goes in search of it. We need both, but tonight and probably spilling into tomorrow, it’s easier to see limits instead of possibilities. Know your inner truth and don’t become distracted by what others think you can or cannot accomplish or do.
Daily Muse: The youth gets together his materials to build a bridge to the moon, or, perchance, a palace or temple on the earth, and, at length, the middle-aged man concludes to build a woodshed with them. (Henry David Thoreau)

SUNDAY
MARCH 6
MOON in AQUARIUS

Accepting limitations with grace comes easy today as the Sun fresh off its conflict with Saturn, finds solace and renewal in an alliance with Pluto. This is a very useful frame of mind as a challenge between Jupiter and Uranus comes to a head. Jupiter’s natural tendency to expand can prove risky when paired with the rebellion of Uranus. The picture I have in my head is of a balloon inflating. Will we know when enough is enough? Will we stop filling it before it explodes?
No matter what you face today, remember you are probably not seeing the whole picture, especially when it comes to things that feel difficult or challenging. Only time will reveal all we need to know. What at first seems like a problem holds a silver lining and blessing. Don’t be quick to judge anything or anyone. There is a sense of destiny at work here; and I’m totally confident we will ultimately be very pleased with the result when all is said and done.
Daily Muse: Don’t wish me happiness – I don’t expect to be happy, it’s gotten beyond that, somehow. Wish me courage and strength and a sense of humor – I will need them all. (Anne Morrow Lindbergh)
