Thanks for the advice SAHM!!!! I'm going to look into getting the book and I've decided that I probably will take the intro to sewing class at the craft show. It runs about 4 weeks. By that time Winter will be settling in and I can start my new hobby. :D

Wyrd - It just bites that someone would steal another's designs like that and thier pages.

LdyStarlite - Good luck! I'm just in the middle of the last part to finish my first project! Its taken me over a year because I had to put it on hold for about a year, the baby. I have a couple of suggestions for you if you don't mind. The first is the book "You're first Quilting Book Ever - or it should be" I think that is the name of it. It is by Carol Doak. I've read that one and Quilting for Dummies and the Doak book is by far the most superior. It has everything you need to know to get started, even how to piece by hand so you don't need the machine! I haven't bought it yet but because of lack of funds but I'm definitely getting it. The other suggesttion is http://www.quiltuniversity.com/index.htm . If you like taking internet classes. They have one thats "starting from scratch" it will even go over what type of machine to buy and I think you will have a small project done at the end of the class. There is only one lesson per week, I believe, so you have time to finish and a message board if you have any questions. This particular class is run by the lady who owns the site and she is very good. There is a Celtic Applique class on there that I want to take but I probably won't until the next time it is offered. I hope you like quilting. I'm so thrilled I'll finish my project soon!

Thanks for the links, Xois and SAHM!

SAHM, I actually had the second site in my favourites and I took a look at it again. The one EQ4 project she lists is linked directly to the webcon.net.au site!! As well, the .pdf's are all very similar except the name cited: one site says "Michelle" and the other site says "Laren." Looks like the latter went through a bit of work to crib the other's patterns. *sigh*

    ... nice designs though. :D :D

Well, I went to my Intro Quilting class today. Thank the Gods we weren't being graded!!!!!!! I did terrible. Everyone finished their piece but me. I had trouble with the sewing part, which can prove to be an obstacle since that's what quilting is all about.

I did like the concept, and I started to get the hang of the sewing machine but by that time it was getting late and class had to end. I'm thinking I MAY try and enroll in another class, it goes on for a few weeks over at the H.S. but I'm not sure about it yet.

I really liked the templates on the other postings. I'd like to try a few, but I think I better try and master a simple "9 block" piece first.

Thanks! I've printed off some of the patterns & can't wait to try them out. I love hand quilting but I'm really, really bad at finishing them! I've got tons of blocks done & just have to put them together. I also have a few quilts that I have to finish the quilting...someday.

Someone is not being very honest. I guess its just the way of the web. I don't see why they couldn't come up with thier own patterns and designs. I don't think its that hard, especially when Paganism is filled with such imagery. My only problem is choosing colors so my daughter helps with that. I'm in the midst of finishing my first project. I'll post pics here when I'm done.

Do you have this link? Its a treasure trove of quilt blocks!
