  • A Place to Share My Art

    Hi guys!

I've mentioned in a couple places around MW that I got a 6x8 Wacom Intuos 3 graphics tablet yesterday. I have wanted one of these for sooo long! I've been using Photoshop for ages and now with the Tablet it's just.. awesome. The possibilities. I can finally atleast attempt to record some of the things in my head.

I'm a painter really, but the style I paint in isn't ideal for describing my mental images.

This is the first work I've put a considerable amount of time and effort into. Only the third I've tried with the tablet.

It's titled "Anemone" and that little guy's name is Farin.

Just a figment of my imagination.....

Completely drawn and shaded by hand in Photoshop CS. Go the TABLET!

I'll post more as I finish them

              Bala...... *eyes glaze over*. Possible.

I figure she'll start talking to me when I give her a home.

I've had a few suggestions of a dark, haunted/forbidden forest. With vines.. and eyes peering out.. and old, twisted trees..

I'm really torn between a lot of these ideas.
I'll have to sleep on it I think

                Progress so far.
                Went with the forest.
Have to put some thought into making it more interesting though

What about the name "Coilte" pronounced kweel-te.Its gaelic for forest.
A corpse is a corpse, of course, of course, and no-one can talk to a corpse, of course. That is, of course, unless the corpse is the famous Mr. Dead!

Coilte... hmm.. maybe she can have a second name. I've kinda got stuck on Bala.

I use Photoshop CS and my Tablet.

I don't draw them on paper first and scan them in like a lot of people. I draw them straight into photoshop. So they're all pretty much free hand.. subject and background.. and original. I get a picture in my head and set out to capture it
I google for references now and then.. like for the unicorn I used bits and pieces of horses and even a deer (the back legs) and then when I have a basic outline with the right anatomy I play with it until it looks like what I "saw".
And then I proceed to use a bazillion layers and the odd filter to color.

                      The background is done last.

I guess I work in a similar way to Meilin Wong. Who is my role model and about two years ago left me thinking "now that.. is something.. I WANT TO DO!". I never had a Tablet until now though.

This is what I'm working on now.

Open for suggestions on dragon color and background ideas.

I looooove the way the lapis came out. I actually can't believe I managed to draw a stone that looks like.. well.. a stone.

wow, thats so good! I'm supposed to be getting a tablet soon, my dad said he would get me one for my birthday, told me he was ordering it online, but last time he promised to do that, he forgot, and that product is no longer being made, so who knows whats going to happen this time? I don't think I'll even be close to that good though, you are super talented! Great work!
