  • Knife Hands - WIP

    Finished painting:

    A portrait of my son...the karate kid.

    Step 1: Palette choosing and initial block in. Im using regular old round brushes at this point. Nothing fancy. Well, the background I used some custom brushes, but at this point the background is the least of our worries.

        Ahhhh... a little Trey-dee-doo action! He's going to kick Thor to next Wednesday.

          Interesting hands. Do his hands really look like that? They're quite distinctive.

              Step 2: Cleaning up my roughs and adding some volume. As you can see my son has some pasty skin so I am trying to add some color without loosing the *real* likeness.

                  Awesome !!!!!!!

                  I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
                  I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
                  so I love you because I know no other way
                  than this:
                  so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
                  so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

                  Pablo Neruda

                  Disclaimer: If you're looking for a debate, please look elsewhere. I'm not judging anyone personally, I'm simply stating my opinion. Some people seem to enjoy conflict...I don't. Please save your arguements for someone who does.

                    Thanks, everyone!!

                    More work.

                    Step 3: A lot of cleanup. Especially trying to get the form of his left hand. *phew* Hands are something else. So much light and shadow.

                      Neat I seem to remember comments about mol's hands with some of his early sketches - must be a hereditary trait. Beautiful son, you two
