  • Repost from Theology and Philosophy because they thought it'd be better to post here.

Merry Meet! I'm finally back after a long hiatus and hoping to be able to be much more active here than I have been capable of being in the past. I am much older now and have had some serious ups and downs in my life, but things have finally seemed to settle a bit and I feel much more balanced as of late.

Ok, so on to the topic that I thought was fitting for this forum. Has anyone seen the news on the Satanic ritual that was held at the Oklahoma City civic center? Apparently it was a big deal for some "devout" Christians in the area. Although it went off without any major problems, I believe that the presence of protesters and the closed mindedness of some of their comments demonstrates that there is still some hatred and disdain between these two groups. Check it out in the news. Just search "Satanist Ritual in Oklahoma" on Google. There's a little information on it. Some of it is sketchy, but one can get the general idea of what went on. Some links even have videos. This is one I found that's a bit easier to understand than the rest. http://www.koco.com/r/25472108/detail.html. I believe it's listed on the CNN website as well.

I don't know much about Satanism. I've read a little on it, and I have to say that I disagreed with most of what I read. I don't think that Satanism is for me from what I understand of it, but I would never harass Satanists or prevent them from practicing their beliefs. Like all religions they have a right to practice what they feel is right for them. Just because I don't agree or conform doesn't mean that I have to hate or harass. So, I was hoping to open up a discussion on the topic and see if anyone had any ideas as to how to bring two religions that are naturally enemies to peace and acceptance. The base teachings of Christianity and the beliefs of most Christians present Satan as an evil being and a bitter enemy of humanity and of their God. Satan is seen as an adversary and tempter at the very least, a powerful being whose very goal in life is to bring out the flaws in "God's" creation, mankind. Can there ever be any semblance of understanding between these two religions? Can they ever coexist peacefully? It is hard for Christianity to coexist with many religions, but I believe that Satanism and Christianity are two of the hardest.

The factual story from what I gather is that there was never really a documented fall from heaven and that "hell" doesn't really exist. The only Biblical evidence of a "fall" from heaven speaks of "Lucifer" which means "Morning Star". It goes on to state that "Lucifer" fell from heaven and a third of the stars went with him. However, some research I have done on this subject says that this was a poetic rendition for a very bright star. Also, this "Lucifer" if he was an angel, is not the same angel or entity as "Satan". Satan and Lucifer are two separate entities. There is nothing that refers to the fall of Satan. Many of the readings I have seen on the subject present Satan as sort of a prosecuting attorney in heaven. His job is to tempt human beings and to "try their faith" in order for them to learn and grow. Therefore, it was Satan that tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden.

I am not quite sure if I have this right or not, so please, if there are any resident Satanists who read this, please do not be offended. Also, please feel free to correct me, I am interested in learning more about your religion for the sake of knowledge and an open mind. From what I understand of Satanism, they believe Satan to be some sort of prince. Their beliefs revolve around self fulfillment through whatever means necessary. This is where I began to disagree. I no longer have access, to the "Satanic Bible" that I was reading for research. It belonged to my ex and I'm not sure if he still has it. I live in a very small and highly Christian town, so it is not available at the public library here either.

I have a few questions that I would like to ask of all the resident Satanists here at Mysticwicks. Could someone please explain to me exactly what a "blasphemy ritual" is? Also, why do you consider yourselves the "left hand path"? I am very curious and wish to understand Satanism. I am an open minded person and I will not harass or degrade ANYONE for their beliefs. I will debate and discuss them, however. I love discussing beliefs. So please, anyone, enlighten me so that I may learn and grow.

    Merry Part and Blessed Be!

Note: As I said, this is a repost. I think that perhaps my lack of understanding of Satanism is a big problem. Someone said that the people from this story were Levayan Satanists. What is a Levayan Satanist? I have so many questions. I need to do some research

Apparently this post was a bad idea after all. It got barely any response in Theology and Philosophy and it is getting no response here. Perhaps once I've finished some research on Satanism I won't sound quite so silly.

I will dig out a link for you that you might find interesting.

The Ophites worshiped the serpent because they believed that it was not Satan who tempted Eve but Christ himself or Sophia. They were an ancient order in Europe

        ok, I found it,

"Naassenians," the most ancient of the Ophites were from about the 1st century. Hyppolytus mentions this in the "Philosophoumena"

It was a Gnostic Sect and their teachings were taken out of the bible because many people thought Hyppolytus was "worthless".

The Ophites saw the serpent as the bringer of wisdom.

The Gnostics, as well as the Nazarenes, allegorizing on the personification, said that the First and Second man loved the beauty of Sophia, (Sephira) the first woman, and thus the Father and the Son fecundated the heavenly "Woman" and, from primal darkness procreated the visible light (Sephira is the Invisible, or Spiritual Light), "whom they called the ANOINTED CHRISTUM, or King Messiah."****** This Christus is the Adam of Dust before his fall, with the spirit of the Adonai, his Father, and Shekinah Adonai, his mother, upon him; for Adam Primus is Adon, Adonai, or Adonis. The primal existence manifests itself by its wisdom, and produces the Intelligible LOGOS (all visible creation). This wisdom was venerated by the Ophites under the form of a serpent. So far we see that the first and second life are the two Adams, or the first and the second man. In the former lies Eva, or the yet unborn spiritual Eve, and she is within Adam Primus, for she is a part of himself, who is androgyne. The Eva of dust, she who will be called in

I was walking around last night and accidentally found the gates to hell. Being the curious type I walked right in.

It wasn't a bad place at all and I was getting confused. Where was the fire and brimstone? Nobody was screaming. In fact the streams were clear and cool, the trees and grass were green and there were flowers all over the place.

Finally I saw someone and I walked over to talk to him. He was a nice looking and pleasant guy with a quick smile. He welcomed me and asked if he could help me.

I told him that I had found the gates to hell, and this wasn't what I had expected at all. He laughed heavily and told me that was a joke he started a couple of thousand years ago.

Amazed, I just looked at him. He laughed some more and told me that immortality got boring sometimes and they thought up ways to amuse themselves.

So I told him all about religion, all the deaths it has caused and what we had been taught about hell. He was distressed with all of this and said he would have to figure out a way to let all the people know it had just been a joke.

Then I asked him if he was Satan. He looked confused at first, but then said, "Stan, dammit! Stan! I told him to proof read everything!"
Being Immortal is so time consuming.

Here is a link to Diane Vera article who is actuality a theistic Satanist and covers the topic pretty well

                    Theistic Satanism:

That is the Christian point of view but it is not every ones – Satan was a wold long before it was a name – it is the Hebrew word for Adversary = so any thing adversarial to christian mythology an idea or personal presentation the more “satanic” further more the more fundamentalist a christian is the more literal the person will apply this idealism –

I am not saying any thing bad about christian I am just sharing what they believe - while reminding the reader that christian beliefs come in varies and degree just like every other spiritual path

This remains to be seen it takes two groups to quarrel and two to create a peaceful truce – there will always be some individuals in both groups that refuse to relent. Most Satanist do not really care one way or the other but many fly under the religious radar because nothing in their belief system obligates then to evangelize and christian influence remain very strong even in pagan groups. This is also why your question have yet to be answered – You either have a small to non-existent Satanist membership Should any members identify with this term most likely they prefer to remain silent due to the hassle of coming out and speaking openly.

Little Black Coven - Why I am not a reverse Christian This is how I see Satan personally which is how I could be put into this category Technically my path is more like a "first cousin"

There is no one perception fits all when it comes to Satan – The variates of Satanist are under realized by most - Only a very small but often troubled youthful sub-set of those claiming the title of Satanist actually buy into the Biblical concept of Satan.

                    FAQ theistic Satanism varieties

LaVey Satanist – often referred to modern Stalinist as basically atheist Satan to them is not an actual being but a philosophy that represents free thinking , personal responsibility, and the ability for an individual to reach the level of being a deity in and of them selves - For more and factual information see the horse's mouth -Church of Satan home

The modern Satanist I have spoken to are perfectly capable of speaking for themselves

Theistic satanist or traditional satanist believe Satan is a spiritual entity with a will of his/her own – They do not acknowledge the christian concept of Satan however their individual perception vary Many see him as a demonized pre-christian deity – others see him as the “good guy” messenger of Sophia {wisdom} who came to set human free by offering them the freedom to choose - truth be known several types of gnostic also believe this Howsoever are a variety of theistic Satanist whose view are best communicated by the groups themselves

Any one who would be offended by a few question of curiosity should stay off the computer.

Technically I am a Demonolatress or practice a Khemetic demonolatry the roots of my practice are the Hermetica {thrice great Hermes} so I identify my self in communities as hermetic because more people are familiar with this practice and are less likely to make inaccurate judgments regarding my spiritual practice. As you can see if the subject comes up I do not shy away from it. I am not ashamed I simply prefer if people get to know me before coming to conclusions so I do not advertise.

                    Broadly and simplified

                    Right handed path

belief in some form of deity with the goal of following the will of said higher power , belief in the supernatural whose energies influence individuals lives., belief in the concept of a universal right and wrong

                    Left handed path

believe that the individual can become like a god via spiritual enlightenment, that spiritual energies original from within the individual , the goal is advancement of the spiritual self { as opposed top the egotistic self} self directed self responsible , not subject to the will of a external divine being, but some do work in partnership with spiritual begins , sees thing like karma as more along the lines of cause and effect as opposed to a supernatural force'

I believe in spiritual beings but my definition of deity s the "All" my spiritual path is considered to be a left handed path I am not subjected to any ones will but my own.

I am not really worried about harassment or being degraded although I would prefer to avoid both I tend to ignore mean people because they are not worth my time and energy . . .

I am capable of holding my own in a civilized debate although I am unsure if this would be the section for that - may have to do that in another section if that is what you are seeking
