  • Appalachian/ Hoodoo??

I practice some personal melding of appalachian witchcraft, hoodoo, and shamanism. I grew up with appalachian magic, though most old practitioners never would admit what they do is witchcraft. I took a recent interest in hoodoo which is in itself in these mountains mixed and mashed with appalachian magic in such away that it may be hard to distinguish and in my opinion usually not so. I am interested in talking with other practioners, sharing thoughts and traditions. I am sure their are older threads but why not start a new fresh one. Whats your past? Whats your connection? What do you do? Lets sit a spell and visit!

Better site for you, trust me. It deals with non-wiccan related witchcraft and witchcraft that hasn't been watered down or made light and fluffy.

I just finished my first book on the subject. I was born, raised and still live in WV. I don't have a particular practice but I am getting started. That is a great site but no reason we can't talk about that here as well.

When I first began exploring my appalachian folk magic roots I looked into my own family at first I thought there was nothing but you would be surpised at how much appears mundane but has magical origins. Noy to mention some of tthe things that are done instinctually magical but many would either not recognize it or deny it. Dig through your memories you might be surprised by how much of a practice you come from.
