  • Tarot compared to Ouija Board..(bad experiences w/tarot?)

They are both types of divination but all the "bad" experiences seem to occur with the spirit board. What about tarot? Your opening yourself to the cards just like you are to the tarot.. just in a different type of way. Any bad experiences? Do you use protection like those suggested with using the Ouija? I'd love to know of you thoughts on this!

Well, I for one see both as an equal form of divination, but have had one hell of a bad experience with Ouija.
For my 11th birthday (7 years ago), my parents decided to give me a board...a very nice one too. But whether coincidence or spiritual unrest is to blame, the minute I touched that board, a year of my family's life went to shite.
While working with it (protection having already been taken), I became dizzy, and passed out.
We assumed it was from the candles , then later that evening, my brother passed out for no apparent reason while walking down the hallway.
Now the rest are totaly normal events in the course of ones life...but this all happened within a year, starting a few weeks after getting the board.

My brother accidentaly broke my moms knee while running into her room and jumping on her bed. (now...hes not the smartest boy by any means..but he was 13 at the time..and never EVER played little games like that)...he still doesnt know what happened..and doesnt talk about it much.
After my mom got back from the hospital, things were quiet for another month, until my father came home without eyebrows and a burnt face. Hes a firefighter, and is expected to get hurt on the job..but was a captain at the time, and knew what he was doing. He said it was the damndest thing, the fire burnt right through his helmet's face shield.
We desmissed it as a occupational hazzard. haha
Then weeks later, my brother suddenly got an ulcer...at 13 years old!..but, nature is fickle..and we dismissed that as life.
The rest of the year went well...(besides the healing of ulcers and growing back of facial hair ) And then on my birthday of the next year...I had a soccer game. My close freind was on the opposing team, and we were having a great game. Then, I got the ball, and as happens in soccer, I was triped (by my freind) and snapped both bones in my arm as I fell...he also fell on top of me, crushing the bones completely, and causing worse damage...we were on grass.

I was in the hospital for my birthday, almost lost that arm to compartment syndrome..I had 3 surgeries within the week i was there...the first of which nearly killed me because they found out I was allergic to anesthesia (spelling?)...I have a massive scar and 57 stitches now...haha...but such is life...we dismissed it.

Now...we have since given away the Ouija board to an aunt who was aware of the horrible year,, but still willing to take it...3 months later, it was on our front porch...she wont talk about why she brought it back. hahah

SO, thats my Oujia experience...a little "Twilight Zone"ish...but strange no?

I kind of see tarot as asking Fate to give you a hint. Ouija's actually asking any stray spirit to speak to you.

I haven't had any bad tarot experiences, per se, just...negative readings.

I see the tarot as a way of communicating with my higher self and with God, whereas I see the Quija board as a way to communicate with nonphysical entities (not God or gods, just spirits that are closer to the human realm). I've never tried using a Ouija board - I'm kind of leery of it, after hearing about so many people's bad experiences

"This is what I believe: That I am I. That my soul is a dark forest. That my known self will never be more than a little clearing in the forest. That gods, strange gods, will come forth from the forest into the clearing of my known self, and then go back. That I must have the courage to let them come and go. That I will never let mankind put anything over me, but that I will try always to recognize and submit to the gods in me and the gods in other men and women."

I think of Ouija as communicating with spirits, I think of tarot as tapping into your subconcious and the "collective counciousness". As such, these are 2 very different things.

I have not had any bad experiences with either, though. I don't use a Ouija anymore, but that is because I just prefer tarot and find it to be more reliable and more accesible. To me, Ouija is more for entertainment purposes than for divination or self-exploration.

I tend to agree with LisaT4P.
However, I can share a bad card experience. I did a few card readings in the haunted house my mom once lived in and the spirits got angry and kept us up banging every night until I removed my cards. I think they (the spirits) believed my cards were evil because they never bothered us to much outside of that experience.

I've never had a "bad" experience with tarot cards. I agree with what was said that reading tarot cards is a way of connecting with your higher self, or your guides. The Ouija does present a much greater "risk" of attracting a stray spirit or entity, and possibly not a particularly nice one. Once the door has been opened and the spirit invited in....well, it may not be a particularly pleasant experience. I suppose if you tried using tarot cards to communicate with nonspecified spirits the way a Ouija board is often used, you could have similar experiences with them as a Ouija board.
The two things that make life worthwhile are love and joy. If you find one, the other is sure to follow.

That's how I see it. And I've had a bad experience with a Ouija board in my mom's old house, which was haunted. I wouldn't touch one now if you paid me!

                    tarotholic..checking in

                    Hi,

I'm addicted to Tarot (buying more than reading) and I see it as Divination and advise. Ouiji, I take with a Large grain of salt, because it is communicating with a spirit that may or may not know or want to give you the truth.

The Key thing with the Ouiji board is to do a protective circle around you (Both people using it) and to ask that one of your guides talk for the spirits that wish to communicate. That has worked best for me.

                    Bright Blessings,

                    CJ

I hope you guys don't get upset with me when I ask this question, but I always thought that ouija boards were game boards for entertainment. Was I wrong?

I hear my friends talking about those things sometimes, and actually, one of my best friends was raised in a very, very, religious house, and her mother would scream if she ever saw a ouija board in the house.

I played with a ouija board for the first time when I was about 12/13 at a friend's slumber party...nothing happened there.

2nd time was last year during the blackout (August, I live in the Greater Toronto area) and I was about 16 at the time, and I didn't really have much to do, and my mom found her old ouija board she had for years, and we played with it. Again, nothing happened. Wasn't the ouija board a creation from that game company "parker brothers" or something.

I'm so confused, lol, I didn't know it was real. I always thought it was a magnet that made the letters move and stuff. Shows how much I know! :P
