Registrations: EXTENDED and OPEN for the month
Since the issue still isn’t resolved (sorry, guys), I am going to compromise and open registrations for 2 weeks out of the month.
DECEMBER 1st to DECEMBER 14th 2012
Hopefully the amount of spammers won’t be as horrifying as they have been!
Those that are lurking and want to have an account, this would be the time to make one!
EDIT:
I have extended the deadline. Registrations will remain open. For now. If/When they will close (if things start getting out of hand again) I will give at least 3 days warning before the closure.

Seriously, though. I have had to deal with nearly 300 spammers so far and it’s only been a few days. So annoying.
This is why I can only handle it being open for 2 weeks at a time. Pretty soon, the daily draw for new accounts will be in the hundreds…and all spammers.

I’m hoping to have a more permanent solution soon. It’s out of my hands, though.
in the mean time, since some stuff I changed around in the CP, there are less spammers and registrants at the moment so I can probably extend registration a bit longer. I’ll edit the post accordingly.

Yeah, I was getting 500+ a day at times, if not more. I tried banning IPs and known spam email hosts. Didn’t help. It got so out of hand, I couldn’t deal with it anymore. Mol (the owner and main Admin) said he will add the needed Plug-in. I’m hoping it’ll occur really soon. As I said in another thread, I tried to add it, but encountered issues. Things are going surprisingly well at the moment, so i’m willing to leave them open.
